SW11_Saint Posted 26 April, 2009 Share Posted 26 April, 2009 (edited) Okay, assuming we get new owners in with ambition, heart and business acumen (all of which excluse Lowe, Wilde etc.), who would you like as our new manager?? I'd be reasonably happy with someone like Dowie, who I think could do a job, but the one that stands out to me is Paul Ince. He has experience at that level, will have a point to prove and is the sort of character who could actually lead us back up through the divisions. This all presupposes that Wotte goes - which imo is a MUST if we are to move forward. He has to take a large share of blame for this year (although appointing him and JP in the first place was just plain stupid), and we need to cut all ties with Lowe's failed experiment. Onwards and upwards with Incey say I... Edited 26 April, 2009 by SW11_Saint

Ewell Posted 26 April, 2009 Share Posted 26 April, 2009 I think blaming Wotte is very harsh, Whilst I would prefer a new man like Ince especially I feel that too many people are giving Wotte a hard time. I do not think he has done too bad all things considered. Had he have been in charge from day 1 then although I feel we would be low in the table I do not think we would have gone down. Wotte gets my thanks for his efforts but the squad he inherited let him down far too often.

Dowie , Ince ??? you're in cloud cuckoo land It will most likely be Rupert Lowe + a Trained Lap Dog ..... ie NO CHANGE I think you'll find we're in 'League One', not 'Division 1'. Well, we will be. At the bottom of it. Which is why I prefaced my question with "assuming we get new owners with ambition..." - if we do, why the hell shouldn't we go for someone like Ince? He's not working, and we're a big enough club to fulfil his ambitions, and prove a point. If we end up with Lowe again, you're right, we will end up with a trained Lap Dog (Wotte). But then if we end up with Lowe again, I will never attend another Saints game, and I suspect many thousands will feel the same way.

You seem to suggest he only arrived when JP left... he's been here all season, and has been involved in the whole flawed strategy. derry Posted 27 April, 2009 Share Posted 27 April, 2009 I have been given a name by a non connected source, a business man who half owns a massive business, is a vip at all the big sporting events, has hired SMS for a customers kickabout, hired Upton Park last year for £18,000 for the same thing, hired the oval for cricket last summer. I digress, but the name is a household football name, not Souness. It is just something he had been told and when we were talking about bidders he said he thought this guy was buying it and named his backers, an enormous financial firm. If this is true then it would be fantastic. As my son and his daughter are going to give us both another grandchild in a couple of weeks time you will have to forgive me for naming neither. This is not cryptic ITK crap, if it doesn't come off it's one of those things. However of all the people except for the usual billionaires this would be MY no1 pick.
