Saints All-Stars Match - Game Off

£20 seems a bit pricey. I reckon you will get about 15k. If they had done it £10 a ticket you'd get 30k in.

I will go still and all money goes to club but just think they have got the pricing wrong.

Hope to be proved wrong

+1.

PEDANT ALERT !!!

£20 x 15,000 = £300,000

£10 x 30,000 = £300,000

Its about the cash at the end of the day, not the atmos.

I do get your point though

guess it will sell well if new owners are in place and exciting if not don't think it will be great crowd?

Depends who else plays.

What did Celtic get, Claus testimonial, MLT played - big club with their fans and WGS effect?

As the money is not going into the club account and supporters will get their money back if the match is cancelled does that mean if a new buyer is announced in the next week the game will have no reason to go ahead and therefore be cancelled ?

guess if relatively rich backers buy the club they can't really justify starting with a charity fund raising game!

They can start with pre-season with our new manager and all the star new signings!

yeh, i reckon so......afterall this match is about raising money to keep the club afloat, if we have new owners then it's their responsibility to do that, not ours.

would be good to see all the oldies again ......but i would MUCH rather we have a new owner instead......:)

But think of the pie sales if you get >30k in!!!! Greater footfall means greater merchandise/other sales.

That bit at the bottom about a refund if the game is cancelled is REALLY scary. In other words, if the club folds before then is how I read that.

What odds on Craig David being one of the celebs?

more stewards unless they are giving their time for free' date=' so pie sales countered by wages[/quote']

I think the stewards have been asked to do this game for free - according to a bloke I work with who is a steward

I am more worried that the game cannot go ahead becuase we have run out of money and wont be able to use the stadium.

Worry not LB, Matt would not commit to the match unless he knew it would definitely happen. Read between the lines if you must, but the match will sell out if all goes to plan.

I doubt they will now run out of money as the gate has been underwritten by a businessman.

That was in fact the original plan, so the club will get the money if needed. With the band aid coming 10 days latter that will keep us going.

£20 does seem bit steep but if its to save the club i'll happily pay it. Think it might have been Matty worth waiting until the Prem season has finished so he could have asked players like Beatts,Bridge,Davies and Crouch if they'd play. Suspect it'll just end up being the usual testimonial playing dross though.

I must admit I'm a bit confused about the whole Save our saints thing. Surely, the whole point os administration is that the club/business are protected from creditors until either;

1. The club is sold as a going concern

2. It folds

All bidders due diligence will be based on the accounts they have seen, so the money raised should make no difference to their bid for the club.

So what will the money raised be used for? If it is used to pay off creditors, then all we will be doing is improving the balance sheet for any consortium who may buy us out. A freebie in effect.

I would like to know where my money is going before I donate to any SOS fund

Hi Lee

Just under 500 sold so far, but it has only been on sale for a few days.

We have just opened the Itchen Stand first. If/When this sells out, then The Kingsland Stand will be open.

The others will follow should demand be there for tickets. There is a lot going to be going on during the day, and once these details get confirmed and published, I am sure sales will increase nicely

Best wishes

David

Received the above email from David Luker earlier.

It's going into a protected account. If the club is sold before, I believe the money will go to Saints in the community/nominated charity.

Otherwise the money will be owed to the underwriter who has guaranteed the club.

I really think the club have got this all wrong. They saw the buzz around the David Hughes testimonal and wanted to recreate it. Unfortunately, part of the reason the hughes testimonial worked was that it had been the first match of that kind for a while. Secondly, it was only £5. It appears many on here are happy with the £20 admission for this game, but, i think the average joe / average saints fan will find that expensive. I honestly think that if it had been priced at £10 (£5 concessions) then we would have had more than double the interest, and more people means more food sales.

Finally, the advertising has been very poor surroundng the game. Which players specificially will be there? There has been no specific names mentioned other than MLT. In fact the latest article (http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11753) only goes to tell us who is NOT there (Andrew Surman), which in itself seemed a bizarre comment. Also, why tell us that there will not be much running around. Again, this puts a bit of a negative slant on the match. It's like saying - pay £20 and get to watch some men stand on a pitch, not much movement - a bit like what often happens before a game when ex-players are guests - except this time for 90 minutes!! Finally the way the above article goes on about us fans having to prove we're fantastic. We don't have to bl**dy prove that - we've proven that in the past. The reason nearly anyone will go to this game is because they think it will be fun, not because the need to prove to themselves they are a 'great fan'.

It almost like saying 'don't go and you're not a good enough Saints fan' - anyone who knows anything about psychology knows that when faced with an attacking comment like that, the majority of people do not back down and do as you say, but will instead just try to justify their ambivilance about not going to challenge the suggestion that they are not a good enough saints fan. This challenging will essentially involve thinking of reasons why they shouldnt go to the game. If the reporting about the game focused on how great an occasion it will be, and gave us more insight into who is going then maybe it would appeal, and people would start thinking about reasons why they DO want to go to the game. This is basic psychology, and although i have little experience in advertising, i would probably say basic advertising too. Rant over!

Few interesting points.

Someone paid £400,000 so that we would survive past the Burnley game.

Soccer AM team are getting involved with the match.

Trying to get Robbie Williams to play (random).

Le Tiss, Lundekvam, Paul Jones, Gordon Watson all confirmed to be playing.
