Soccer Saturday build up thread

Nineteen Canteen

Nineteen Canteen:

I do want to discuss what is happening at Sky and would start another thread but the last time i did that I made Pancake a bit cross unintentionally and so I'm keeping this thread going to discuss MLT's contract at Sky and nothing more. Is it over for him at Sky. just suspended or absent due to more mundane reasons? Whatever it doesn't look good.

The usual contradictory individual. What happened, Nineteen? Does a few hours sleep completely erase your brain's memory function? ;)

No decided to get this thread going before Pancake woke up. Think it deserves a separate thread away from the whole book and Pinnacle discussions. Who said anything about sleep? Been up all night waiting on your reply, I thought your question was urgent.

Good luck to Tony Cottee, today sitting in (or replacing?) for the missing Matt Le Tissier. Has Sky kicked him into touch? Where is the gazelle like Shipperley when you need him?

Very curious indeed even with my alleged OCD.

So you have a problem with Matt, but not Tony-sells-tickets-to-spurs-hooligans-in-the-Leicester-end-causing-a-mass-riot-at-a-cup-final Cottee, who was charged by the FA and suspended from all forms of football and football management.

Double standards methinks.

Love it :)

Not kicked into touch just off sick, caught a dose ****ing your mum.

What a witty response. Very clever, well done.

Also didn't know that about Tony Cottee...

I didnt know that about Cottee...tut tut.

Indeed.

There is quite a bit of news surrounding this

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/football/693627.stm

"What should have been a pleasant day out for many fans instead involved fear, intimidation and violence. Those found guilty today deliberately gave their tickets to Spurs fans or distributed them carelessly that they ended up in opposition hands."

"One of Impey's tickets found its way into the hands of a Tottenham fan who was pictured attacking a female Leicester supporter, Ruth Lelacheur, at the 1999 Wembley final."

NC obviously doesn't have a problem with this as he is actively supporting one of the perpetrators. I happen to think that whilst a bit of irregular betting is out of order, there is no way I could support those whose irresponsible actions led to the attacking of a woman at football.

Dramatic last sentance JB, Cottee didn't actually attack the woman

Yes, it was a bit strong, so I've edited that statement. But at the end of the day his irresponsible actions led to innocent people being hurt. Tickets were DELIBERATELY given to Spurs fans for the Leicester end. On that basis, Matt is welcome back at Sky as far as I am concerned, at the expense of NC's much acclaimed Cottee.

How far do you go with peoples irresponsible actions, its like the conspiracy charge, it doesn't matter at what point you got off the bus, you were on it !

Agreed. But someone who is banned from all forms of football shouldn't really be given top billing by the Media on a football show. But whilst there are those who are willing to support such people, it is something we will just have to accept I suppose.

Agree, however, i'm sure those who hold TC in high regard, through his football, would suggest its no great shakes as we on a lesser scale believe the same of MLT but there will be many out there suggesting neither should retain/offered any position with the media.

True, but you can't castigate MLT and at the same time welcome TC with open arms. You either have both (if you want to turn a blind eye) or neither. I was merely highlighting 19C's double standards.

Numpty Cowboy................cannot be a Saints fan...........this Diversive poster attacks anything and anyone who is held in esteem, by the majority of Saints fans....whilst defending his alter ego Lowelife, who was the biggest single cause of our demise into Div 1.

How this fool manages to continue this cr*p on here is beyond me....maybe this is this 'free speech' I keep hearing about!!

Even with your editing of one the posts, it still does not detract from the fact that your attack on NC is complete arse.

So what you're saying is it is ok for some SWF not to know about Cottee's issues but you expect NC to know all about it? Has it crossed your mind that NC was not aware of what Cottee did, like many others on the forum? Maybe when he hears of this he will say that Cottee shouldn't be on Sky either? Maybe he feels more disappointment about being let down by a Saints player (hero) than someone who has nothing to do with us?

If any double standards need highlighting, it is yours. Where you accept that people haven't heard of Cottee's naughtiness, as long as they aren't called Nineteen Canteen.

The only reason sundance feels let down by le tiss is because he like the majority dislikes lowelife, shame you have to fight his corner while he dyes his hair ,sleeps rough ,and has sex with strangers for a few days.

But these other people aren't making a big deal out of Matt not being on TV and then lording TC as if it is some great thing.

To be fair I didn't know anything about TC either. I just saw another pop at Matt and thought enough is enough. I simply googled Tony Cottee+Scandal and it didn't take very long and I didn't have to dig very far. Perhaps if NC had done the same, he wouldn't have made an arse of himself.

Anyway, as it happens, Matt (innocent or guilty) always flies the flag for Saints on soccer saturday and a club long forgotton by the media (thanks to you know who) gets some decent coverage. If he is removed, I don't see this as a positive thing for Saints.

Hi Johnny, I wasn't aware of Cottee's antics but thanks for the insight. For the record i was just quoting the line up on the Sky Website and wasn't bigging Cottee up anymore than the dour Alan McNally. I can only quote what I see, perhaps next week it will be Paul Walsh so start digging. ;)

The double standards appear to by Sky's not mine if MLT has been dropped from the show.

The bang was indeed out of order.

Its *****s like this that "encourage" long term posters to not bother renewing their subscription to this forum.

Whilst I welcome and indeed enjoy reading different peoples views of things I bloody hate posters like this who seem to gain a perverse pleasure out of being negative????

WTF is happening to this forum?

******s.

Perspective here please lads, Matt (allegedly) placed a bet on the timing of the first thrown in, yes throw in, hardly match fixing is it????

JB, I remember the photo's of the cup final well, the contorted face of the Spurs fan attacking the poor woman lives on......what a hard man!!!!
