We are through, so I suppose that is all that matters. However we are certainly not playing at all well at present.[ I predicted the game would be really close].I agree with

others on this thread that Luton are better than quite a few division 2 sides, which they

proved with their points total last year[56 without the 30 point deduction.

Thank **** AP was sensible enough to play our best available team

The decision was largely made for him. The fact we are in a period where we have no league game for 11 days made it a no brainer for him to pick his '1st team'.

Had there been a league game in 3 days time I'm sure a few 1st choice players would have been rested, and rightly so.

Pardew just confirmed that we have made 2 bids for players...and we're waiting on that at the moment.

That's very pleasing to hear. Only another 2 to go after that then! ;)

I'm hoping that no new additions will be cup-tied for either the FA Cup or more importantly the JPT.

Posted
I think a new face to freshen things up within the next couple of days is needed.

I think we should give Pardew a bit more time to be honest.

Oh, you meant a new player...? ;)

Posted
course it was, thery were always going for a replay when they saw the gate figures.

No chance! They almost scored at the end... and they had to come back from being 0-1 down! Sorry... they would desperately have wanted to win that.

Posted
no waiting around then...

great to be the "man city" of league 1...

I see Aaron McLean (sp?) of Peterborough was left out today after putting in a transfer request. Could he be one of them?

a banana skin that we would probably have slipped up on in the past. 1-0 is fine, a clean sheet for all those complaining about 3-2 wins. Winning breeds confidence and I for one prefer a real victory to a moral one...

Birmingham have expressed an interest in the press, and it has been reported that a few prem clubs are having a look.

I didn't think he was 'that' good.

Calculated risk by the Skates, they need the money, Cov will get 19/20K for the replay and Skates get 45%

Wouldn't surprise me.

Gosh, an ironic thought has just popped into my head....say we get P*mpey in the next round at home, we could inadvertantly end up helping to keep them afloat by attracting a full house and TV income....I can see the headlines now...."Saints Fans Save Pompey's Bacon".....unless no-one turned up of course....

If we get them at their place - I'm gonna make sure I pizz all over my seat at the end of the game.

No, he is going to the Prem, Birmingham have already offered £3m, doubt he will be tempted to drop down with that sort of money being offered.

to be honest...I think they would beat us at their place..

however, get them at SMS...you never know

Would be good/funny to stand & watch them smash up their own city once again though. Never understood that one...

this time..I could take a defeat by them...would be worth it just to give them some shyt about their situation

At least I'd have a roof over my head next time ffs.

I'm sure that their African players will be missing next round too - so you never know.

Well done on the win however being as we're not going to win this cup I hope we can get a big gun away in the next round and bow out with our heads held high.

Arsenal or Spurs away would do me just fine.

That is pathetic, really...very...pathetic

and worrying for the future of football. There is no way the the number of professional clubs that play in England (not to mention Scotland and Wales) can cope with the financial mess that the Premier league (and other clubs like Real Madrid) has created...

Posted
their ANC players were missing today already.

So they were...all except the goal-scorer Prince Boeteng - who was overlooked by his country now that he plays for an English minnow club. ;)

Just back. I think we were fortunate not to get taken to a replay. We just didn't seem to compete in the second half. I thought Wayne Thomas had a great game (well, mpst of it, he was very poor for the first ten minutes). Kelvyn kept us in it with a couple of great saves but was reluctant to release the ball early when we had players forward. Both Lambert's free kicks were superb and he deserved the goal. Schneiderlin was excellent. Many oher players just didn't seem to be at the top of their game. Still we won and that's all that matters, I suppose.

It was interesting to see a game from the other side of the pitch as I eneded up in the Kingsland today. Bloody cold though as the sun doesn't get to that side.

Just back from the game and "stutter" is an apt verb choice, that's for sure. Lambert's freekick was class, as was the earlier one that he didn't quite get lucky with. Antonio was out of sorts and both James and Schneiderlin played some poor balls. Patterson (sp?) had a good spell when he came on though.

The biggest moan has to go to the proportion in the Northam who were more interested in goading the large Luton support and trying to have a scrap with them after, than watching the on pitch action.

We do seem to be stumbling somewhat of late; too many games where I've come away thinking that we won despite not playing very well. No matter how good the team you can't keep doing that.

I've always thought that on our really decent run of wins we were playing a little above ourselves, and that we were still a way from the finished article. The first team is good for this level, no doubt, but I still think that Leeds and Norwich have that little bit more than us. But then I think those two will be the ones that gets automatic promotion, so I guess that's the standard we need to aspire to, and we're not all that far away from it.

At the moment we don't seem to have enough goals in us from all over the pitch; Lallana has dried up a little of late and others aren't chipping in, so it falls on Lambert's shoulders. Also, I'm never all that confident looking at a central defensive partnership of Perry and Thomas, and James just isn't a right back.

But I've got faith in Pardew to do what is required, he knows better than any of us how far we have yet to go to be proper promotion favourites. The players he brought in at very short notice were just what we needed and in the main have all been good signings. You'd hope that with more time to balance up what we need we'll see some good signings in the next few days/weeks.

Posted
Do you mean right back!? ;)

Well who have we got as cover for Harding?

I mean James can PLAY right back and his attacking play is enough to get him by and will improve and we have Murty too free-ing James to play on the wing or in the middle.

I really don't think we should be counting on Murty long term. He's started about 1/5 th of the League matches this season. No doubt an excellent bloke but the injuries are too constant.

Rubbish game. Rubbish atmosphere as well. Rubbish cold.

And I got told off for diving under the netting to get the ball back. No-one else was going to ****ing get it.

Who was the Blue Square side more so in the 2nd half, my MOM is Chris Perry just got on with it in a quiet fashion made a couple of important tackles in the 2nd half. When was the last time our so called goal machine scored from open play? sorry he reminds me of a certain stricker playing for Reading. Our stewards let Luton fans get away with trying to incite violence even ejected one Saints fan who dared complain about it.

Nope not in the FA Cup, 45% each and 10% to the FA (or something like that)

That's a pity. There was me hoping that they had a Minibus, fuel and 15 McDonalds to fork out for while making no money (and hopefully an early Cup exit) out of it all.

21 goals so far this season, that's all you need to know.

Not a very good performance really. Think we have not been playing as good of late. But we are still picking up results and that is a good thing. Credit to Luton i thought they were very bright and positive, especially in the 2nd half. If i was not biased i would say they were unlucky not to get a draw. They had a good go and if it was Saints team from 4 months ago they would of thrashed us.

But a win is a win. I think we really do need a couple of proven players to come into the club iin the window. A very good CB and a winger to replace Antonio. Who i felt was shocking today.

I would love to get the Skates at St Mary's in the next round. That would fire the players up and i think would be the icing on the cake if we beat them!
