Blue few quiet again

Main reason being we were awesome.

Every time they tried Play Up we immediately responded with Pay Up

Every time they did that godawful tune you hear at amusments, we responded with the same tune with **** off on the end, like we've been doing against most league one teams this season.

They didn't have anything else, and were only heard when we were 4-1 down and we couldn't be arsed to drown them out any more... crap support really, absolutely shocking for the biggest game of their season.

Still, this could be a good strategy for keeping opposition fans quiet... taking their own songs and using them against them.

If it works against Pompey, supposedly the best fans in the land, in the one game of the year where you'd think they'd be up for supporting their team, it can work against anyone, just need to do our research and find out what songs they use against each team so we can work out a good response.

Thats the one positive point I took from the game. Skates and thier so called `blue army` were probally the worst set of away support in term of actual backing for the team during the game I have seen for years.

They had 2 songs and only got going when they scrored. To have no faith in thier team and stand like concrete statues is just a poor showing.

I was concerned that singing pay would sound too much like play up but it worked a treat

Yea it completely shut them up!

Was that the best atmosphere we've ever seen at St Mary's - if not it must be in the top 3?

The noise after we equalised was incredible follwed by literally 27000 people singing "who are ya?"and "you're not singing anymore" back at the Skates.

To be honeys even at 4-1 down our crowd were so good it made my day. I mean no matter what the score was we could be singing 'your going down' and 'pay up pompy' it was so so funny.

I always thought we would get beaten BUT thought our players put all their effort.

I went to really have a laugh at poopy's demise. They seem to be getting out of everything at the moment but due to there league position and 'fan base' I feel they really do have no hope.

Had to laugh at O'Hara being interviewed, he was saying listen to those [Pompey] fans as they were sing "We're going to Wembley"

That was the Saints fans you moron!

Their support was pathetic and they had no answer, "Bring on the Taxman" at 4-1 down, loved it.

no..pompey fans started singing it at the end

They were a gormless bunch. As soon as we responded with any song, they just looked around and didn't know what to do. A bit disspointing really, I was expecting more from them, and more banter. It was all one way!

I guess that's what being in the premier league does to you.

Think we're exaggerating a bit, but first half they were poor - their support would have been OK if it was a normal game but it was very mediocre for a derby. They got loud as f*ck after the goals started going in, but that's hardly a big achievement is it? I like to think we made so much noise that any attempts by them to get a song going were drowned out, as happened at Fratton in '04 and '05, but unlike us on those days they actually had a roof! And loved the booing and abuse dished out to skate players whenever they took a throw-in or corner; it is of course futile to expect that kind of old-fashioned intensity every game, but if we could replicate even a small part of yesterday's atmos for your average league game we'd very rarely lose at home.

Blinding atmosphere, it hurts being beaten by those scumbags but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

I didn't think they were that bad. The banter was good too. Tbf, their fire drill song was reasonably funny.

I was dead surprised too. Not only did a song by their fans have words in and not be about hitting shkammaz wiv bricks, it was rather witty. Surely an unprecedented event?

Would think their 'Fire drill' song was borrowed from other teams fans who have sung it to them this season!! :D Don't give them credit for wit!

if we are taling about the "...only a poor little a scummer..." song then they have been singing that for years and years.

Yeah very disappointed with the Skates fans "effort" yesterday, didn't hear a peep from them until they scored their 3rd. Pathetic really, as usual. You even watch their home games now and it's dreadful, probably due to the fat that oinly 15,000 fans attend at FP.

When will this false impression by the media that they have great fans end??

Ah ok thanks.

I was a long way away in block 11. :(

still, it was a bloody good atmosphere, without a doubt the loudest I've ever experienced at SMS. Proud to be a saint today. Skates can enjoy their 5 mins in the sun, I'm sure we will get plenty of chances to humiliate them in the future, if they don't get liquidated that is! Maybe we can invite afc poopey for a preseason friendly!?

Pathetic blue few support once again at SMS. Tho' some our fans must be really thick if they don't think joining in with 'play up p*mpey' with 'pay up p*mpey' was gonna do anything other than make them sound louder and give the skate players a lift.

I agree, when we sang fuc off pimpey, pimpey fuc off at previous derbys there was no confusion and it shut them up

What happened to TCWTB?! Sure I saw his clown hat poking out from the crowd before the game but didn't see him in there (or hear him!)

I had the pleasure off meeting the **** in the hat outside the Northam.I took the opportunity to tell the ***** exactly what i thought of him.

I then phoned a few who were a couple of minutes behind to grab the chance.

All i got back from the freak was a glare.

I would hate a tosser like that to be associated with my club i mean he had blue and white clown shoes on as well as his normal get up.What a ****.

I wasnt there but it sounded awesome on tv.

One question though is i was surprised i didnt hear 'wash your mouth out son', we do this song every game and when they actually visit it doesnt happen? Or was it just not audible on tv?

I heard it a couple of times

indeed - I've posted the same observation before. When our fans were singing 'pay up' it didn't sound any different to 'play up'.

A little bit more thought next time please chaps. Thanks

Believe me it was sung many times where i was in block one.

Also there was a lot of "You Skate basta--ds"..."Premiership your havin a laff"...."W******d is a wan-er" and a few more.

Hopefully some of these were heard on tv.

The atmosphere was fantastic, stood all game in Block 35, thats never happened before. Didn't hear the skates much until the 3rd goal, v. poor.

Was a bit surprised we didn't get a decent version of 'Your father is your brother' going, but there were so many good songs it didn't matter.

Ding Dong Ding Dong, Wheres your bell gone? LOL

Not very suitable for TV I would have thought;)

The only singing that they really focused on was you are not singing anymore after the equaliser
