Saint_clark Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Awful weren't they. Think I heard 3 renditions of Play up P*mpey before they were 4-1 up.
Jimmy_D Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Main reason being we were awesome. Every time they tried Play Up we immediately responded with Pay Up Every time they did that godawful tune you hear at amusments, we responded with the same tune with **** off on the end, like we've been doing against most league one teams this season. They didn't have anything else, and were only heard when we were 4-1 down and we couldn't be arsed to drown them out any more... crap support really, absolutely shocking for the biggest game of their season. Still, this could be a good strategy for keeping opposition fans quiet... taking their own songs and using them against them. If it works against Pompey, supposedly the best fans in the land, in the one game of the year where you'd think they'd be up for supporting their team, it can work against anyone, just need to do our research and find out what songs they use against each team so we can work out a good response. docker-p Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Considering they had 4k, their support was pathetic. A handfull of play ups and that was it.
brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Agree, one of the worst bunch of supporters I have seen, having 4,000 fans and I still couldnt hear them, and I was in the Kingsland block 36.. pathetic
Amesbury Saint Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Main reason being we were awesome. Every time they tried Play Up we immediately responded with Pay Up . Saints Warrior Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Thats the one positive point I took from the game. Skates and thier so called `blue army` were probally the worst set of away support in term of actual backing for the team during the game I have seen for years. They had 2 songs and only got going when they scrored. To have no faith in thier team and stand like concrete statues is just a poor showing. adrian lord Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 I was concerned that singing pay would sound too much like play up but it worked a treat Yea it completely shut them up! Was that the best atmosphere we've ever seen at St Mary's - if not it must be in the top 3? The noise after we equalised was incredible follwed by literally 27000 people singing "who are ya?"and "you're not singing anymore" back at the Skates. Joesaint Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 To be honeys even at 4-1 down our crowd were so good it made my day. I mean no matter what the score was we could be singing 'your going down' and 'pay up pompy' it was so so funny. I always thought we would get beaten BUT thought our players put all their effort. I went to really have a laugh at poopy's demise. They seem to be getting out of everything at the moment but due to there league position and 'fan base' I feel they really do have no hope. TheSaint75 Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 very very poor support but that was to be expected from them, they never made much noise at SMS before and only got going a bit when winning. Sh1t club sh1t fans
Saint_Jonny Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 they didnt liven up til it was 4-1, and to be fair to them, sat in block 3 it was deafening. But it took alot to get them excited! Loved yesterday, the saints fans were amazing.
St Chalet Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Had to laugh at O'Hara being interviewed, he was saying listen to those [Pompey] fans as they were sing "We're going to Wembley" That was the Saints fans you moron! Their support was pathetic and they had no answer, "Bring on the Taxman" at 4-1 down, loved it.

Um Bongo Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 They were a gormless bunch. As soon as we responded with any song, they just looked around and didn't know what to do. A bit disspointing really, I was expecting more from them, and more banter. It was all one way! I guess that's what being in the premier league does to you. Griffo Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 I didn't think they were that bad. The banter was good too. Tbf, their fire drill song was reasonably funny.
Mao Cap Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Think we're exaggerating a bit, but first half they were poor - their support would have been OK if it was a normal game but it was very mediocre for a derby. They got loud as f*ck after the goals started going in, but that's hardly a big achievement is it? I like to think we made so much noise that any attempts by them to get a song going were drowned out, as happened at Fratton in '04 and '05, but unlike us on those days they actually had a roof! And loved the booing and abuse dished out to skate players whenever they took a throw-in or corner; it is of course futile to expect that kind of old-fashioned intensity every game, but if we could replicate even a small part of yesterday's atmos for your average league game we'd very rarely lose at home. Blinding atmosphere, it hurts being beaten by those scumbags but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Not only did a song by their fans have words in and not be about hitting shkammaz wiv bricks, it was rather witty. Surely an unprecedented event? niceandfriendly Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Yeah very disappointed with the Skates fans "effort" yesterday, didn't hear a peep from them until they scored their 3rd. Pathetic really, as usual. You even watch their home games now and it's dreadful, probably due to the fat that oinly 15,000 fans attend at FP. When will this false impression by the media that they have great fans end??

COMEONYOUREDS Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Ah ok thanks. I was a long way away in block 11. still, it was a bloody good atmosphere, without a doubt the loudest I've ever experienced at SMS. Proud to be a saint today. Skates can enjoy their 5 mins in the sun, I'm sure we will get plenty of chances to humiliate them in the future, if they don't get liquidated that is! I then phoned a few who were a couple of minutes behind to grab the chance. All i got back from the freak was a glare. I would hate a tosser like that to be associated with my club i mean he had blue and white clown shoes on as well as his normal get up.What a ****.
