Semi. Stay or Go?

Personally, I feel that aside from him bottling out of a few challenges each game, he brings some great overlapping play down the right. With Murty looking ever more likely to retire at the end of the season, I think we should sign Semi up for an extra year then spend the rest of Summer seeing if we can find someone else.

If nothing else, Semi would make a great player to have as backup.

He can go I would prefer lloyd James easily over him. I lost count on how many times he got done and how many times he bottled out of challenges or just stood off his man. Made me angry.

Also got to say it and I am sure I will get slated for it but I think rlambert needs a rest he looks knackered out there. I know people will be saying that he needs to play on Tuesday night but I would stick him on th bench and let papa and Lee have a bloddy good go and maybe bring lambert on later.

I'd sign him on a one-year deal.

If he signs for another season, he won't be able to rest on his laurels as his long-term future will still be uncertain, so he'll have to be at his best to earn a longer contract at St. Mary's.

With regards to today's display, admittedly he wasn't great, but he didn't do anything wrong as such. As others have said, his pace is a real asset and he does provide a good option down the right with his overlapping runs.

I thought he had a very good first half, broke up many attacks and got stuck in well, but an absent second.

I would sign him up as cover at least. HCDAJFU at this level.

Colin

No offence mate, but I think the Coventry air has go to you!

He didn't have a very good second half either!

He was duplicating his Monday performance.......................Couldn't be Arsed!!!

I've seen him play once or twice, nothing special. Feel a tad sorry for Lloyd James, as it is his position that's been taken, but six months for Semi was a good stop gap. Murty is glue IMO, which is a shame, so a new RB for next season would be required. If we want to go up - that right back should be the best in the division.

What really, really annoyed me was in the 2nd half, an excellent ball from Puncheon inside the CAFC fullback puts semi in and he totally bottled out going in hard for the ball by the goal line to get it across.

I'll forgive the occasional mishap but not bottling out of 50/50 balls.

Up here in East Anglia all the Narch lot said he's got all the ability of Forest Gump. He can run but that's it. I can see what they mean now.

We need to find someone better before we offload him but sooner rather than later.

He infuriates me. he just doesn't look remotely interested in being a footballer. He must be a dream to play against - he just follows you around without making any attempt to actually prevent doing what your trying to do.

Numerous times he wound me up yesterday but most noteably when Puncheon played a great ball into the channel for him to chase (by the corner half 2nd half) he was clear favourite to get there but as soon as a defender made a decent effort he back off let the defender get in front and then made absolutely no attempt to challenge for the ball at all! He just let it roll out of a play for a Charlton goal kick!

I'm amazed that he is keeping Lloyd James out of the side!!

In fairness to Forrest Gump he was also very good at table tennis. So not the one trick pony you're suggesting.

I thought he was gash today.

Bottled out of challenges and had woeful positional sense.

Not one to be kept IMHO.

He was abysmal in the last 10 minutes, barely moved after his bottling the 50/50 and everything went on around him - Fonte did almost all of his work down the right - could have been knackered but if so, GET OFF.

I like the looks of the Tranmere right back, think his name is Bakayogo or somthing like that. Gave our defence a few problems I seem to remember.

I too thought Zoumana Bakayogo looked useful. However, he could be another injury prone player. Wiki had him as a left back although I thought he played RB. Interestingly, it mentioned Leeds & Saints were looking at him before he signed with Tranmere. I realise Wiki isn't the most reliable source. He's French & came from Paris Saint Germain, then played for Millwall, Brighton on loan before signing to Tranmere.

Bradley Orr is a decent RB. Bristol City player, formerly of Newcastle & Burnley. Good Championship experience.

Grétar Steinsson would be great right back but pretty unachievable unless Bolton got relegated. Icelandic international. I think if Bolton did drop, he'd wanna move to keep in the top flight but you never know?! It would up the WAG status of the club. It's a good barometer of a club's success, the quality of the WAGs. Lol We already have Fonte's Cassie stepping up after Licka selfishly took his missus with him upon departing the club. Steinsson's missus was Miss Iceland so would be a welcome addition in my books...

Was Fitz Hall a right sided player? Think he's more centre half. Jordan Fairclough could be one for the future. Think he's pacey enough and only 18. Currently at Forest, product of their youth academy. Michael Hart of Preston could be a shout too. Leigh Bromby has lots of experience and a monster through. Formerly at Watford, Sheff Wed & Utd. and now at Leeds.

We do need an established RB as a priority. I'd keep Semi as competition as he does have good games at this level but I clearly saw the bottling incident, right under our noses and knew he would. Irritating. I didn't think he had as bad a game as many purported. Puncheon holds onto the ball too long imho. He should have squared that ball for Antonio I think it was, acres of space. Frustrating in recent games, despite what he creates! We need good cover for the times Puncheon gives the ball away.

I thought both of Tranmere's full backs looked very useful. I was told both were loans or at least not permanent signings by a couple of Tranmere fans. Murty will be retiring, but we should have no problem finding a decent RB for this league.
