NickG Posted 25 June, 2010 Share Posted 25 June, 2010 SKY Sports are reporting that Nigel Pearson is the man in talks with Hull City. It comes on a day when it emerged the Tigers have been holding discussions with a boss who managed in the Championship last season. Pearson was at the helm in Leicester's promotion from League One and he took the Foxes to the Championship play-offs last season. The Mail spoke to City's head of football operations, Adam Pearson, earlier today, but he refused to comment when asked about his namesake becoming the new Tigers' manager
Glasgow_Saint Posted 25 June, 2010 Share Posted 25 June, 2010 in effort to make saints related.... NP v AP? Think AP. Difficult to compare as NP is a reletively new manager - however NP has done very little wrong in his short managerial career while AP's career has gone backwards. NickG Posted 25 June, 2010 Share Posted 25 June, 2010 (edited) is hard to compare, agree. NP is doing very well, how can you say AP career has gone backwards when he has one of the top jobs in world football! Edited 25 June, 2010 by NickG
Shroppie Posted 25 June, 2010 Author Share Posted 25 June, 2010 (edited) in effort to make saints related.... NP v AP? Think AP. Both good managers. NP v Dutch duo? I don't think so. If he is going to Hull, good luck. Oh, and btw, I admit that starting this thread was out of desperation to find anything Saints-related to talk about, but I should have thought before potentially reviving things that should be forgotten. Shroppie Posted 25 June, 2010 Author Share Posted 25 June, 2010 Would say NP has the passion but AP could be more astute in the transfer market, and possibly tactically, but then there were moments last season .....

Under Weststand Posted 26 June, 2010 Share Posted 26 June, 2010 Strange one this, can't see any real reason that NP would want to go to Hull? Unless he's got an uneasy relationship with Mandric. All the football arguments seem to say stay at Leicester, as they are a bigger club, they have a bigger fan base, they will be expected to be in the mix for promotion/play-off's again next year. While Hull are in financial turmoil, & who knows what will happen up there next season. As for the argument about AP over NP, who knows what NP might have achieved here, that's all water under the bridge. I think they are pretty much on a par & both good managers, hopefully we will be locking horns with NP in the not to distant future.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 26 June, 2010 Share Posted 26 June, 2010 I'm happy with AP as Manager, but feel it was a shame that NP never got a chance to rebuild Saints. Most Saints supporters have a lot of respect for how NP conducted himself at Saints and I feel he was a class act. He's done a really solid job at Leicester, walking League 1 and then reaching play offs, but it can't be easy working for MM. There should be no AP/NP debate, both fitted Saints nicely at the time. The only debate should be between NP/Dutch Duo and whether we got value for money from the cheaper option. By paying a decent Manager a bit more, we could have been pushing for the play offs and avioded administration, there wasn't much difference between Pearson's last team and Holloways Blackpool. krissyboy31 Posted 26 June, 2010 Share Posted 26 June, 2010 Think Pearson and Mandaric have fallen out tbh and it seems that there have been no assurances on playing budget for next season. Hull City are restructuring their finances but they (like the Skates) now have at least 4 seasons of parachute payments to play with and a decent enough squad for the Championship. The fickle Tigers supporters don't seem to be very happy if these comments are anything to go by, though. http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/sport/HULL-CITY-Pearson-looks-set-Tigers/article-2350176-detail/article.html

He has no passion, experience and is an air head when it comes to knowledge about football, my 7 year old daughter would do better then him. Hull need someone who will make us proud and not someone who would make us a laughing stock! See sense Hull before its to late!! pearson you must be joking hes crap, his football style is long ball we need some one with experiance to get and stay in Prem Laughable comments given his record of promotion and progress at Leicester but I wonder how these comments differ from the reaction on Saints Forever/Forum at the time Pearson was first announced to be coming to us. I think Pearson was very lucky not to be wanted by Lowe and Wilde. If he had stayed I doubt whether he would have achieved as much with SFC as he has done at Leicester
Dark Munster Posted 26 June, 2010 Share Posted 26 June, 2010 This is a great move (if true). Before, I wanted Nige to do well, but that was tempered by the fact he was working for Mad Milan. Hopefully MM will find an incompetent replacement (I hear a couple of Dutch jokers are available) and his club can drop like a stone (along with P****y of course). Really hits the mark....there should be no debate comparing AP and NP. When NP was dumped by Lowe I not only agonized about losing such a promising managerial talent but doubted the club would find someone as good in the near future. The fact that we have now a manager of similar background and quality is just one of the great things about supporting SFC in the last year.
