Lol at getting to see the Southend programme.

As I recall, a couple of people did manage to get hold of the Southend programme and couldn't see anything untoward. I wonder if they will be comparing it to the version that goes up online. Maybe the whole thing was a scam to build up interest in this new venture.

Just signed up for the trial and it is just like reading an ebook. I dont usually buy programmes because they are 1) too expensive and 2) have to carry it around and then it gets creased etc

I am very tempted to sign up. For £29 it is a very good idea.

Decent idea this, especially for the people who are unable to get to the matches as regularly they like.

There are always requests on here after games for people after a programme.

Doesn't really affect me as i often buy the programmes at the ground, but i can see this being a very popular service overall.

....but it's not working yet. Lots of errors coming up.

Saints Player is alright, It's good if you don't get to go to the majority of the games because there is commentary for every game, and also extended highlights of the games. But that's about it really. Plus they have highlights on BBC anyway. I dunno about iPhone ?! Maybe in a wifi area, but this is just a guess ?!

Anyone know when it will be available on-line? i.e Friday nights or sat morning of the game? Might seem a silly a silly question but having a 2 year old son there is no chance the missus will let me sit down on the morning of a game to read a programme before i go out all afternoon to watch the match. however if it will be available on a friday night will get the chance to read once he's in bed, think its a great idea, will really get me geared up for the game.

Programmes are rubbish and only something I used to buy (stopped some time ago) out of habbit and because I like glossy paper. Sod paying to read it on the net when the gist of what you'll read is free elsewhere.

£29 actually if you sign up now. £39 is still cheap for a whole season's programmes which include cup games. Another great idea from the club which will prove to be market leading. Do you expect them to be published on line for free you clown???????????

In my opinion programmes are full of adverts and crap, and are only bought by geeky collectors.

I wont read them either way.

Site keeps crashing! Not a great way to launch, can't read a whole page as the zoom doesn't work properly, and no option to download as a PDF.

I would have subscribed at £29, but I don't think the site is ready to go yet, perhaps some UAT needs to be done! Then a re-launch.

Tried in Chrome and IE8

Not working for me, few teething problems. To be fair, it will be the first programme I will have read in about 3 seasons when I do read it. Not expecting myself to pay for the season, but then I have done stranger things.

Anyone know why it's not working/what the problem is?

I'm really considering this, it would be great to be able to mail a copy to my work address, it would keep me occupied all week, but is there really that much more than I can get online?

Surely it just needs one person to subscribe, then they can just upload it, post link on here - sorted.

I think copyright law's would prevent blantent sharing, but wouldn't prevent me from sending the odd copy to my brother.

This is a great product.

Im London-based and take the train from Clapham Junction to Southampton Central. I'd rather read the programme on my iPhone on the train down than buy a hard copy at SMS at 2.55pm.

Sure, theres not a hell of a lot in it of massive interest - but at £29, it's about the price of a Saturday newspaper. Im signing up (if it works!)

A good idea for some, but not for me. I like to collect the progs and read them before kick-off, (unless my kids read them first, in which case I read them when I get home :x) printing off a pdf for future reference doesn't appeal to me. I guess I have the same feelings about buying music, I'd much rather buy a cd than download from the interweb.

ps. I have programmes from every match I've been to right back to my first match in '78, except 2, those being Southend & MLT testimonial where I arrived too late & they'd sold out. If anyone has a spare copy of the latter I'm willing to be separated from my cold, hard cash for it.

Checked out the Southend programme online. The last page, with the teams, is missing - perhaps it contained something controversial which caused the programe to be pulled in May?

It's not very user-friendly. The two-page view means that the text is too small to read and having two columns on most pages means constant use of the mouse when zoom viewing. Also, white text on dark backgrounds is not very printer-friendly.

However, that may all be because it is just a copy of the old physical programme. I expect that all these problems will be resolved for the new online programmes.

In the interests of balance given the thread about the press photographer ban, I think it's only fair to say that I think this is a good idea. It gives fans an alternative option, which I think is decent value compared to buying the printed version.

Plus, I'm sure it won't just be 'geeky collectors' who think the same. Alpine, maybe next time you're at a game, you might care to have a look at the diversity of all those who are reading a programme, and decide just how geeky they are? Maybe go up and ask one or two of them just how geeky they are how many they have stored at home...?!
