I was on a remote Carribean Island on 21 Nov 2005 just walking along the beach when I heard the unmistakable sound of a radio commentary. I saw an old local woman sat on the stump of a palm tree listening to a premier league match cant remember who it was.I sat with her and listened to the scores coming through in the blazing heat and was chuffed when the commentator mentioned we were 3-0 up at home to Leeds. I thought game over and went for a swim. When I came back to the old woman later to get the final score's expecting a win of 5 or 6 nil I couldn't believe we had lost 4-3. Gutted.

In the shadow of Mount Huscaran in Peru - managed to get a connection on my phone to see we'd beaten Yeovil 2-0 last season.

Most disappointed coming back as I flew back through Miami, managed to see that we were 2-2 against Bristol Rovers as my flight back to London boarded. Thought it must have been at least 15 mins since the final whistle so was gutted when I got back to find out we'd lost.

Straits of Magellan, via short-wave radio on my trusty Pye Cambridge multi-band and the BBC World Service, - which, incidentally the powers that be are considering shutting down. Bloody Philistines are alive and well in Westminister.

Internet information makes this less interesting than it could be. I've logged in via my phone to pick up scores from some fairly remote spots but all depends on your connection and whether is a land-based network or satilite. Picking up commentaries is a different thing though and depends on access to a good bandwith.

If you just think about the radio broadcasts on Solent, I've been suprised at how far across the south, you can pick it up. Already this season, I've been able to listen on 96.1FM on a standard radio or a car radio, in East Sussex, north of Eastbourne and in Dorset, West of Dorchester. That must be something like 160 miles apart and up to 100 miles from Southampton. Quite a coverage for a 'local' station.

Not remote on a global scale, but certainly out in the sticks. 3rd April 1976. On Cader Idris whilst on a A level Geography field trip. Radio reception wasn't good so no-one knew what was going on at Stamford Bridge. When we did pick up a signal Man U v Derby was the commentary on Radio 2. I remember listening to the Grand National. Rag Trade was the winner and then as we got lower down the slopes we picked up the other semi on the radio again. In a break in the play Bryon Butler announced that Saints were still one up at Stamford Bridge. Cue mad celebrations at this news. A little later the commentary cut to Stamford Bridge for the pen. Cue even madder wetter celebrations. There are lot of stream and pools up there. Que Sera Sera - Whatever will be, will be - We're going to Wemberley doesn't often ring around Snowdonia

Middle of the Atlantic or middle of the Pacific are probably the most remote for me. But again using satellite communications it's not that impressive these days as it once might have been.

Occaisionally if I am very bored on watch I might try picking up world service for the results. There was a Kenyan West Brom fan who would be on most weeks giving his views who was always quite entertaining. Not sure if he still turns up though.

1976 sat in my flat in Sydney listening to the Cup Final commentary on short wave, recording it on my reel to reel tape recorder with it's fading and coming back all the time. The goal is 913 feet into the reel.

Listening to a Saints commentary on the salt flats in Bolivia, again on BBC World Service shortwave, cant remember much about the game but it was -25 outside the tent. Amazing the batteries held out in that temperature.

Great result yesterday.

Found out that we had survived 07/08 while on a massive morphine trip. I had broken both legs in a car crash on the thursday prior to the game. I think I might have had ssn on but not really sure. If anyone else knows what its like to be on morphine then they'll know how it completely wipes out your memory. I didn't realise I had hit the van head on until the police came and spoken to me

Got a good reception from Radio Solent sat in the car in Honfleur in Normandy.

You can usually get Solent right along the French coast up to Calais.

Was on my honeymoon about 14 years ago in Cancun when I tried in vain to pick up the world service station on my portable radio.

In the complex I walked about a mile to find a good spot and BINGO......It was under the pool and to the side of the sea, by the minute the tide was coming in and at the final whistle the water had reached my knees.

Had no idea if we won though.

103.8 is strong in South Devon and sometimes can get 96.1. Once listened to Saints Forum om 96.1 while driving in mid Brittany.

Around 1998 I watched AC Milan play Sampdoria in the San Siro. At halftime they showed highlights of Saints away at Liverpool on the big screens..... We won 3-1 ! (David Hurst double I think)

Never thought I'd be able to say ' I've seen Saints win in the San Siro '

But I have .

Watched the goal updates from our 6-0 at Molyneux (and a few others) on my laptop whilst living just outside Phoenix. That's about as far as I can think of distance wise. Listened to the commentary online from our 4-1 at home to Southend on the final day of that season whilst lying in bed as the game kicked off at 7am.

About eleven years ago I was building a school on a plantation in the middle of nowhere in Ecuador. We had no electricity or running water, but did find the world service on the radio just as they went to second half coverage of Saints versus Newcastle. A 4-1 win (I think) made it a great day.

1989, Kuala Lumpur, Saints beat Liverpool 4-0 with youngsters brought in. 2002, Easter Island, Lima, Guayaquil (Saints live beating Liverpool. Riise own goal), Phomn Penh, Ayers Rock, Agra, Goa. Otherwise all over the world and whilst airborne on BBC world service on the a/c HF radio any Saturday etc that Saints were playing.

I've always felt guilty about going to the Antarctic, there we were, high up in the league and going well, Jan 04.

When we got back to mainland Argentina ten days later I logged on in the one internet cafe and discovered we had lost at home to Newcastle (3-0?), the whole thing fell apart from that week and here we are fifty odd league places lower than we were then, all because I went to the Antarctic.

Then again it was my wife's fault we lost at Fratton because she switched the car radio on in Wiltshire.

Makes sense to me.

And the thieving baggage handlers had three Boca juniors shirts out of my luggage.

I watched us get beat at home by the skates in the cup last season on the internet, in a cabin overlooking a huge blue lake in the middle of the Andes mountains on the southern border of Argentina and Chile.

I was depressed for a moment, but then glanced to the other side of the cabin to find my lovely Ecuadorian girlfriend had just woken up and was beckoning me back to bed. Yes, I'm boasting. Unfortunately it's not so great now as we broke up recently and I'm (unsuccessfully) trying to get her back. Hence this slightly drunken forum posting... :-/

(Still, I might never have got with her in the first place if it wasn't for Saints. She's a football fan and "El Tin" Delgado meant we actually had a shared interest of sorts to talk about the first time I was trying to chat her up in a bar. Safe to say she thinks a lot more of him than I do, though!)
