Can't help yourself can you, Adkins gets a new contract due to excellent work and you say it's going to go t!ts up. Not if but when, you're a useless excuse for a fan

It will make a change if we start the new season with the same manager that we ended the previous one with. I hope that Adkins is here for many years to come, that this is the dawn of a new age of stability and upwards progress. We'll just have to wait and see.

Just a pity he was such an uninspiring choice and couldn't get the players to play for him.

Just onemore time for those hard of hearing,or just plain thick, players initially and on occasions seemed unable to put into practice what was being instructed to them, and what was being preached in the media by Adkins.

What he was telling us and the media about the style he wanted to adopt was very rarely seen on the pitch.

Mother Theresa should have got this squad promoted, especially when inheriting such a strong squad at that.

Very well executed by Adkins, but the fawning over him of late has been nauseating, the real work begins from now.

Let's just hope he sees out the contract and continues to have success, but it won't come as easy as it did this past season.

Pleased about that, Adkins seems a really decent man and it appears that the players like and respect him.

My only reservation is wether he would be good enough if and when we get back to the Premiership.

Only time will tell, I for one hope he is cos i have no problem with him driving this bus for many years to come.

Ok, maybe that was the fans going into rumour overdrive. Are you on twitter? Was mental on there last night. Michael Owen was signing apparently.

To be fair it is a little sad of people to sit in front of twitter all night on a Friday night! Jordan sublet said there would be big news this morning(there was no over the top post from him). Adkins has signed a new contract which is big news in my eyes as it means a summer of stability management wise. He totally deserves it too

Great news. NA has proved that he has what it takes to bring success.

Locking him in to a long term contract makes perfect sense; for too long we have had a revolving door policy and that has been a major contributing factor to our instability.

Short term contracts and high pressure to get results do not create a stable foundation on which to build.

With the right financial backing I see no reason why the 'vision' for Premier league football (and more) should not be achievable under NA.

Well done Nicola.

Highly doubt it. Yes promotion was the minimum required and expected by most but its a number of factors which contribute to achieving the aim. There are plenty of examples where having the best squad/team doesn't equate to winning.

In league one with a substantially stronger squad and resources than our rivals.

Let's see how he does on a slightly more even playing field in the forthcoming season before claming him to be the messiah.

Feet on the ground people,please.

Great news. Shows how much faith NC has in NA for him to offer him such a long contract back in January. Some want to focus on the negative and say how it will cost a fortune if it goes wrong... More importantly is that if we start flying high in the Championship with the sort of football I watched Scunny produce under NA, then he is going to be a very sought after Manager and this long contract will have us in a prime position to keep hold of our man.

Good news indeed.

I see Mr 'I don't like Adkins' has spoken, you're such a joy to read on here.......NOT!

It has nothing to do with supposedly not liking Adkins at all,FFS.

Just because i don't pee my pants over everything he says/does.

However if his run of bringing in some modicum of success continues into next season i may well become a tad moist.

For Lard, who may not of read the article...

Since his arrival, Adkins has transformed the team on the pitch, taking a club that was languishing near the foot of the table, and producing a side capable of attacking, free flowing football with the resilience and patience required to beat teams that raise their game when playing Southampton.

The side lost just once at St. Mary's in the league following his appointment, with the spirit created in the team reflected by the fantastic continued support of the fans that have backed them so well home and away this season, which culminated in last weekend's 3-1 win over Walsall in front of over 31,000 supporters.

You need to get on the bus. We all get little puffy on's and everything when there is a new interview with NA on Saints Player. Do you still only get your w*nk sock out for the AP interviews?

Yeah I'm not arguing that it's not a good thing, it is, I rate Adkins, but people over speculated as to what the big news would be. I came home from football to the rumours that we were signing Michael Owen FFS! I guess if people build themselves up to expect 'news' like that then they would be disappointed. FWIW I also think a lot of people would have liked to have heard news about season ticket prices. I personally thought it was going to be about that new Director of European Recruitment.
