If there is anything to be had for us in terms of playoffs or automatic, then our run in is fantastic.

I had a dream about a month ago, that we sent pompey down at fratton park and the demons from our last visit were exorcised.

Can probably get to 14 home games next season, so will be getting my first ST. :D It wont make much sense financially, but it's well worth it knowing I've got a seat reserved next to my mate every match and not having to queue/book everything before a game. Will no doubt need it to have ANY hope of getting a ticket to krap nottarf.

How likely is it that our first game will be televised?

There are no premiership games that weekend making us much more in the spotlight. In addition to Sky, the Beeb have started to have live games from the Championship. If they are broadcasting one that weekend, I would be anmazed if we were not on either them or on Sky.

Norwich/Ispwich and Cardiff/Swansea seemed to get live TV coverage last season between BBC and SKY, so our own derby is bound to be televised if one or both is doing well.

I would say our derby will be the hottest property....more so than the forest v county as we and pompey dont play each other that much

Shame we don't meet the skates earlier.

Give the old bill more time to prep!

They'll get a fair bit of practice and preparation from 5 out of our first 6 home games.

Gutted to be missing the Leeds game but looking good for a date with Sky again like the last 2 openers. That would be 3 on the bounce watching from some hot foreign bar - drew the first against Millwall, lost last year, so due a nice winning start!

For pompey away i guess that will be through a ballot. There are 8 away games before those tiks will probably be on sale, so how many do you think i would need to go to to be able to get a tik?

Not many. Four, maybe five at a push. We'll get 2000 odd though, some people won't fancy it just because it's Pompey and they might think it's not worth the hassle. I'm pretty sure the last two visits made General Sale anyway.

How sure are you? My decision on a season ticket is purely based on whether on not I'll be able to get a ticket to Pompey away without one..

You shouldn't be going anyway, that is a boys day out. Don't be so selfish and deny a decent lad a ticket, stay at home with a a box of chocolates and a Dirty Dancing DVD FFS.

Pompey away criteria IMO:

Over 18

Under 60

Male

No replica shirts

By train only

insure a very hostile arrival at fratton and giving it big time...bout time we gave it back to them

Unfortunately (or fortunately in 2005) no-one would get in before halftime. The OB have had a bad habit of delaying trains on recent visits, particularly the ones including "over 18/under60/male/etc/etc". We had some right 'sorts' on ours last time and that did ensure we arrived very late and were escorted through near deserted streets (apart from the odd [very odd] couple of local weirdos hanging out of windows).

I will not be taking police advice for the away trip to the pikey's this time. The first premier trip we got in the ground 25 minutes after kick-off and the last one we missed 10 minutes. I'm going to make my own arrangements for the train this time (probably Eastleigh to Fratton).

Looking at that fixture list reminds me we are now playing with the bigger boys.

We are going to have to do some serious work pre season both on the training pitch and off the pitch.

We were attrocious on occasions last season and were torn a new hole by what some might class as lowly clubs.

We were nieve and lacklustre at times but got away with it having a impressive sqaud for league one.We will get punished in the NPC.

This coming season will be no cake walk....we must be prepared.

Mid table obsurity will do me right now,and one place above the Skates.

I remember this all too well, I presume you recall seeing the old duffer hanging out of the first-floor window of his abode before the game, chucking coins at us? Highly comical.

again, very much this. Plus the 18-59 year old, non replica shirt wearing males cannot be complete mugs so not many posting on here qualify.

F**k that, I'm taking my nipper. They should be exposed to the pure hatred as early as possible and a visit to that dog hole makes them understand how lucky they are.

Would quite like to go to Fratton, but financial and geographical circumstances (as in I am a student at university) have meant I have been to naff all away games, and on that basis I wouldn't want to get a ticket in case someone more deserving missed out.

One day maybe, one day.

This is a complete rewrite of what happened last season. Not even in the home defeats to Rochdale and Brentford were we "torn a new hole".

Indeed, the only team that beat us comprehensively was Huddersfield up at their place, we were awful, they were good and beat us easily.

For a fair few games we did not perform for exceptionally long spells during a match, how many times did people report back that for long periods our play was not good.

Infact, copius times people were saying that it was not the performance that matters but the result...well that tells me their were times we did not perform well.I saw it for my self on many occasions. It was becoming a standing joke that were were only capable of playing for one half of a match...usually the second half.Play like that this season and teams will be out of sight before we can get near them in the second period.

We were lucky we were playing teams of a lesser capability than us,this season however we will be stronlgy matched in every department.

Therefore we will be punished.

You're right, we should have dominated every game from the first kick and won 10-0 every week.

I think you know full well that is not what i am saying.

You are in denial fella. You know i have a valid point.

Far from it, when the team played well i said they did, when they played badly i said they did. Just find my comments after getting back from Wallsall away as evidence of this. In most of our wins we were comfortable if not spectacular when we got the first goal, especially at home. Where we struggled a bit was when we didn't get an early goal and could steamroller a side, ended up with us humping it long and hopeful (see Brentford home, Wallsall away) but towards the end of the season Nige seemed to have got the team playing with more patience, belief and guile 13 wins out of 14 speaks for itself. The only game i can remember us coming remotely close to "being torn a new one" was Huddersfield where they did batter us for an hour and were the much better side.

Of course we do, but saying we were regularly "torn a new one" when we weren't at all is utter sh*te and a rewriting of history.

It was the strength of our sqaud that got us through last season, not our playing style, this season we will need both in abundance.
