Not going tomorrow, should I feel guilty?

Tomorrow will be the first game I've not gone to in about 2 years where I have had no barriers to going. I'm married with 2 kids, my wife works every other weekend and I'm usually very busy, I've managed about 7 games this season home and away, but tomorrow I have nothing stopping me going, we've no plans, I have money and time to go, but I just can't be arsed to waste good money on something that will wreck my day... should I feel bad about not going?

Mate, if I hadn't already bought a ST, there is NO WAY I would be going and wasting money on that crap. AS it is I will be letting Rupert and co know my feelings for the full 90 mins. Why feel guilty about standing up for something you believe in (or don't as the case may be)

I was at the Madstad when we won 2-1 and to my recollection thats our last decent performance on a day when Reading barely turned up... I think tomorrow they will be out for revenge and we will be on the end of a drubbing...

I feel the same way and I've got a season ticket. The choice between going out in the freezing cold watching a load of cack or staying at home in front of the fire with a nice roast leg of lamb lunch.

Not a hard one this time.

Oh, and before I'm called all sorts of names, I went to my first Saints match 48 years ago at the age of 6, I've had a season ticket since I was 14 and for a twenty years or so when I could afford it and I didn't have too many family commitments, I went to every match, home and away, including Europe and pre-season friendlies.

These days however, there is something fundamentally wrong with the club I have loved for so long.

The game will wreck your day whether you go or not. I'm an ST holder but I miss midweek games as I work in Ireland. This year it really hasn't bothered me that I've missed games.

Not in the slightest.

I think you should be directed to a large empty room, holding a large glass of Scotch in one hand and a loaded revolver in the other. When you enter the room, just close the door behind you and do the decent thing.

Now then, didn't shooting the f*ck out of that picture of a train make you feel better? I hope so, because watching us play at the moment isn't likely to. The Scotch might though. I'll be going tomorrow, though I have to wonder why; the last thing you should be doing is feeling bad because you're not.

In normal circumstances a fan should do all they can to support their club , but these are not normal circumstances and to be frank it doesn't even feel like it's our club anymore . When Rupert's gone we can all unite behind 'The New Saints' and start again - but until that happy day no Saints fan should feel the least sense of guilt for refusing to put anymore hard earned money into Rupert Lowe's pockets .

Baj, stay home in the warm and play with your (sorry, the kids) DS Lite. I'm staying home and trying to get my Zen mp3 player to work (bloody thing keeps freezing, is it the cold weather or crap software). I really don't want to sit in the cold and be as depressed as I was at the Nottm Forest game.

Happy New Year to all Saints fans.

virtually the same as me , my biggest motivation these days is my elder son who is 20 still wants to go

Not sure if I'm in the minority here, but I find it easier watching Saints lose in the flesh than listening to it on the radio?

At least when I see it with my own eyes I haven't got the false hope that's usually built-up by the commentator on Solent.

Not going today though.

Aye, can't stand listening to us lose on the radio. Felt sorry for my family after the Burnley game.

Quite looking forward to today, meeting at the pub in under an hour and no work tomorrow. Reading have brought a decent amount of fans so it could be a decent-ish atmosphere.

baj,it is sometimes a difficult thing to support the saints but it is something i was born to do,like my kids i didnt have a choice,my dad was saints mad and he passed this on to me (bastard:-)).it is very difficult at the momnt, especially when the kids are not witnessing any wins or even a goal but i have to keep going in the hope that the good times wil return.

you have to do what you think is right, nobody will blame you for not going but im sure the temptation will be too strong to resist.

I'm not going Baj. I think you should feel proud of yourself for not supporting Southampton Leisure Holdings FC and do as I am... saving my money for the eventual return of Southampton FC. Hope it's not too long in coming.

I will only now attend games where protests require support. Man Utd will see me singing for a change as I sense that will be the biggest protest against Lowe and the plc he stands for in recent years.

no offence but think its ridiculous to feel proud about not going. Not saying should feel guilty as its not a responsibility but a hobby/passion and the enjoyment priorities may change.

Sunny day, had good morning with kids, people round tonight but looking forward to game on sunny afternoon (although have warned guests that maybe bit grumpy to start with after a defeat!)

Can't say as excited as in the past though

I am not going to today's game against Reading. I have a streaming cold and cough and do not fancy a four hour round trip. The club already has my money for this game due to ST and I wouldn't be cheering very loudly due to sore throat. I don't feel guilty as I will be subscribing to Saints TV for the first time to listen to the game on line. So sorry to the team but I am not up to it. Get stuck in and chalk up the second home win of the season.

And if there are any anti-lowe chants from the Northam will some one else please shout extra loud to cover my absence. Thanks.

I'm a ST holder and just can't be bothered to see us get a drubbing today, I really feel I'm falling out of love with this club, although hopefully it's just a trial separation!

Lets hope your not filing for a full club divorce after todays display :D

And this just about sums everything up for many Saints supporters,as sad as it may be.

We have seen our once great club bought to it's knees, and there seems little that we can do about it ? Staying away is an individuals right, whether it is in protest or just "can't be asked".No one should feel guilty about making that decision, perhaps if enough people did it the powers that be might sit up and take notice (though I doubt it with this shower in charge).
