I think in all honesty he is autistic I'm the same and I don't like changes to my environment I get massively overwhelmed. If he is I relate wholeheartedly.

Amazing he ever moved over 100 miles from Exeter to Southampton in the first place really.

I got absolutely roasted on here when I said that in the summer. It's a invasion of privacy apparently to even mention it.

I didn't see that, as I said exactly the same thing and wasn't roasted by any means.

I've definitely thought neurodiversity when I've seen TD in the past. No idea if that's the case. And yes, to an extent it's nobody's business. But I think it's ok to think about this, especially if the thoughts are about how it might affect someone, and what support might help. I haven't seen anyone just saying it for saying's sake.

It's because I said I knew someone who confirmed what he had. I didn't say it was a negative thing.

It can just be social anxiety and hypersensitivity

He's struggling to settle, it seems. Certainly in terms of playing regularly.

It was a real shame that his first longish run of games came in that awful season, which because it was a PL season immediately increased his value and got clubs interested. At a time when we were open to cashing in.

Finding his feet this year with us would have been much better for everyone.

No, and I don't think it should be, but it is clearly something that he suffers with and it impacts him. I don't think what you said is controversial at all.

Cheers. You do wonder how much leaving was his idea in the summer. Almost impossible to turn down 40 million but I do feel for the lad if hisncondition is holding him back and preventing him from performing, particularly because there isn't really any going back. Football can be quite brutal at times.

So, as I said in the Summer he was all set to stay and then "something" happened, and he was off. I don't know why, but my mate said that he was told he wasn't moving, until ever so quickly he wanted out ASAP. It was literally overnight. Same with Fernandes by the way.

Wonder if Dragan wanted the cash.

Why would both players want to stay and then independently be desperate to leave?

No doubt, their agents got in their ears.....

SR's 10 year plan got leaked internally?

Maybe they didn't fancy playing in the National League. 🙂

Hadn’t he had a new contract offer on the table for some time before the summer though? If he’d really wanted to stay, surely he would have signed it. (With the caveat that we don’t know what the actual contract offer was of course - maybe it was derisory).

I thought it looked like they offered him the contract, and then when it became apparent he wasn’t going to sign it they basically decided that they needed to sell him, which was when they started preparing the ground and trying to proactively ‘set the market’ (eg inflate the starting price in the bidding war they anticipated) with all that nonsense that they put into the press about him being a £100m player.

Then when only Everton showed any real interest, and at a much lower price which was diluted further with add-ons etc, the club still pretty much pushed him out of the door at that point because we needed the money. Which we then wasted a big chunk of on players who haven’t been able to get in an already very mediocre team, and paying off yet another failed manager a few months later.

Yes, he wouldn’t sign the contract on offer, so rather than let his contract run down he was sold. Now it would appear in the current circumstances, a very good piece of business by Saints just for a change…!

Yeah that was my understanding too. But that's a bit different to 'he was all set to stay until something happened and he suddenly decided to leave at the last minute'.

There had been no indications at all from either side that he was ever considering signing a new deal, we were obviously going down so needed to prepare for the financial impact of relegation which meant making some big sales (from a squad where only Dibling and Fernandes could really be considered 'big'), there was no way we could countenance letting him run his contract down, and Spors did nothing but talk up his sale price from the moment he arrived in February. That seems totally out of whack with suggestions of him being 'set to stay'.

Lets be honest he was never worth 40 million. I never thought he was even in the summer. Given how much money we have wasted, that extra bit of money could prove vital.

So basically you're saying SR screwed the whole thing up for Tyler and us. Sounds about right for those shysters.

Are we surprised that he is finding it tough? I for one am not. To me it was pressures from advisors who may or may not have been acting in his best interests. It is such a shame if it doesnt work and there is no way he can come back as we are not going to shell out big money and wages to get him back

The money was obviously too good to turn down. But from a footballing perspective I felt and still feel that he’d have been better off “doing a Grealish” and playing for us for a season. It was obviously the much higher risk approach but there’s a real chance that this whole episode puts his development back a good bit.

From a financial POV it was a no brainer to move. But given his previous struggles when living away, it was always going to be a big risk. Maybe a sell but with a one year loan back could have been the better option for all parties.

He ditched us twice before the age of 20. Who gives a shit if he's having a lovely time or not?

Let it go, chaps.

For sure, I wish him the best but he's not in a Saints shirt so I don't really care how his career goes now.
