A competent keeper saves both goals today. I know there is a danger of us over analysing him due his many years of abject failure and even the best keepers have a mistake in them but both goals were right in front of him. I honestly think an outfield player playing in goal would have better reflexes. It doesn’t make a difference that the ball went in off a hand as their striker was there to make contact and a keeper should come out and close him down. He just stood on his line and pulled a dance shape like he’s on a dance floor. The guy is a woeful excuse for a professional footballer.

How anyone can defend Bazunu is absolutely beyond me.

By definition, contrarians don't need a reason to defend the indefensible.... ;)

He started as an outfield player, wasn't good enough so had a go in goal. He's clearly not good enough at that either but continues to steal a living as a professional footballer at our expense. Somebody high up in the club needs to have the balls to say enough is enough because this has gone way beyond a joke.

We have to protect our investment. Fully expect him to be handed a nice new shiny five year contract before the start of next season. The twats running our club think he'll be a £30m keeper one day.

The buck should stop at ekhart for selecting him. It’s been blatantly clear for at least two years that bazunu is a absolute disaster .

he’s always gonnna be shit but can we make sure hes not doing us damage by playing him

I'm not sure we can blame Tonda. He has a choice between Bazunu or McCarthy neither of who are good enough for the Championship. Either would be ok as back up goalkeeper but they are not what is needed as first choice.

That was my gut feeling ( he should have closed down striker).

When a cross comes into our box does anyone ever think to themselves, that's ok, Bazunu will come and deal with that? There's more chance of a table football goalkeeper on a rod coming to claim a cross than Bazunu.

Don’t think McCarthy is anywhere near as bad as bazunu tbh he might make an occasional error but can at least make saves .bazunu just doesn’t look like he knows what he’s doing and is constiently terrible.

even will still was starting to see how bad bazunu was and dropped him after a while

The simple shot he let's slip from his grasp is a real shocker and it's something he seems to do on a regular basis.

This is exactly it. And that save wasn’t some superhuman skill, it was him flapping about because of his mistake

The fact he couldn’t even hold onto a shot that most Sunday league keepers would’ve held, is alarming. Hes just absolute shite. It’s barely believable that he’s playing at this level and absolutely laughable that he’s played in the premier league . His overall goalkeeping attributes, when you look at everything about how he performs, in my mind place him at national league level

Anyone also noticed that since his monumental fuck up at QPR , when he came wandering out to claim a ball he was never going to get and presented their striker with an open goal, he now refuses to come for anything at all. Nothing. Crosses now get whipped into the 6 yard box line and he’s still rooted to his line. He has the presence of a 15 year old kid in goal, and all of the confidence and authority of one too. Hes been the biggest shit stain on this clubs demise under sport republic and yet here he still is, not doing his job properly .

you ask any defender what they want their keeper to do when crosses come in, and they’ll all tell you they want a strong authoritative keeper who will come for as much as he possibly can, and take command. This clown does the exact opposite. I even suspect even he’s a little embarrassed that he’s still our first choice, he knows he’s shit too.

The only way Gav will ever be a £30 million keeper is via the Euro-millions. Better fucking odds too!

Again, every word of this is painfully true.

Realistically, he’s about National League level.

He’s so, so shit.

Be interesting to see Bazunu’s career trajectory when Sport Republic finally cease their negligent work experience placement and let him go. I reckon it would take the likes of Eastleigh or Waterlooville a one week trial to suss him out, maybe less.

Let’s remember 3 1/2 years ago some people at this club thought he was good enough to pay £10m and throw him straight in as a Premier league goalkeeper when he’d never played about league one level.

Where are all those people that used to pipe up saying he was good enough because he kept clean sheets for Ireland by the way?

Yep.  He would seriously struggle to get a start in the National League.

He’s simply too small mate. Club are gaslighting the fans on this. Bizarre.

Usually the Bazunettes appear, pom poms flailing, after we’ve narrowly won with only a couple of clear fuck ups. Doubt they’ll show up after the Coventry game.

I genuinely believe that we got promoted out of this division last time because he got injured. McCarthy is pretty awful but again today, come out and collect Baz, it's very simple. His mistakes are costing goals time and time again.

And I've never seen him play but he owns a pair of gloves so perhaps George Long is worth a try. At the very least, by picking him, Tonda would be sending a message to SR that we've been saying for years.

I’ve defended him recently but today was back to the days of having an outfield player in goal eg Dexter Blsckstock, Colin Clarke. It wasn’t just the goals, Gavin looked painfully out of his depth in every department of his position. Even his kicking, the only part a few posters reckon he does well, was ropey.

McCarthy until January and a new #1 because Ramsdale ain’t coming back and Alex is out of contract in the summer.

Indeed. Best description of his physical presence in the sticks was on this very site - Like an anorexic Warwick Davis

McCarthy also comes and claims crosses.

and if the guy wasnt offside he missed a sitter of a follow up ............why cant keepers hold onto the ball/,not just our failure of a keeper but all keepers.........they seem reluctant to clutch the ball and opt for parrying or punching the ball back into play and sometimes into even more of a dangerous position from where it started. ARE the balls too dangerous to hold onto now?

Lads, he is "fine" for the Championship

Has there ever been a player in any other position that had been so blatantly out of their depth that we’ve persevered with for so long? I can’t think of anyone. Obviously they didn’t fancy him In the premier league so signed Ramsdale. I assume they hoped he’d come on a bit since last time in the championship. I’m not sure he has.

HE is the one player that personifies Sports Republic.

Even now, after a new dawn, he is still No.1

Bazunu  Norwich 2 : 1 Southampton

if McCathy Norwich 0 : 1 Southampton

if Ramsdale  Norwich 0 1 Southampton

Why are we still insisting on plating Bazunu?

Every game, every game we need to score at least 3 to 4 goals to bail him out. But we are unlucky today

I’d check McCarthy’s history against Norwich if I were you
