If this season is to be a homage to 50yrs of 1976 then I'd day this one, and I would buy this one.

Ebbsfleet’s new kit looks pretty good - the stripes stops for a clean sponsor then starts again….

This in white and red with P&O Ferries in the middle?

Would give me horrible 22/23 vibes...

I am prepared to believe that the club will go with something very much like this - 50 years since our greatest day (and the away kit sorts itself out as well).

Even more than the Hummel revival kit last time, this is an absolute no-brainer. I can't believe they wouldn't do it.

It’s the first replica kit for 8 years that I’d actually buy and wouldn’t look daft in as a middle aged bloke in a medium size. Last season’s were horrific, especially the Barbie away kit. I’m not against using pink but that was vile. That black/red pin-striped away design @Carozzi posted on here looked nice too as something I could wear other than at the games, although that would be a third kit as they’re understandably going to go yellow/blue on the first away kit. Even that looked really nice.

That was not the home kit in the FA Cup winning season.

This was the home kit, as seen in FA Cup semi final vs Palace.

Even that looks nice though, albeit not as lovely as the 76/77 variant. Compare it to last season’s vile effort compounded by the very tacky logo.

Ok this in an interesting minor detail but doesn't alter my view that if the club don't bring out a version of that admiral kit for this season then the entire commercial department needs to be lined up and shot.

Decided to create some concept kits based on some of the 25/26 puma templates that have already been released

Southampton 1.png

Home shirt is almost exactly this, from what I have heard. The away is yellow and blue stripes. The third is black and red but no word on the exact design.

The general theme seems to be retro remakes this year so we can only hope that Puma have nailed them. 😃

As most of your previous posts are pretty much on-the-money then I'll take this as just about sealed.

Calling @Harold K Steptoe to the new kit thread to verify 🙂

With stripes on the back too............ It would be perfection.

Don’t see the fascination some fans have of wearing blue shorts with our home kit - you’d have to be in your 80’s to have seen us wearing them .

Other then red and white we’ve no real tradition of out kit as we’ve messed around with the stripes since the 80’s .

I'd like us to go back to navy blue (which we had for 59 years) because it just looks better IMO. Red, white and black feels like a colour combination from the 1980s. Dated. Naff. It's subjective though...and the club wont be changing back.

If we are not going stripes, then maybe a return to a predominately red shirt might be an option? Perhaps with two tone stripes like the 2022/23 Ivory coast shirt. Puma are often too fussy, but this is simple. too simple? Not sure if it works in red/off red...

was thinking more the two tone red of the 1985 kit.

ahh.. i see, sorry. Better but not for me.

If we’re not sticking with traditional equal stripes, something brand new would be better than regurgitating old kits imo.

Can’t see any reason not to have stripes on the back, other teams have retained them.

If not then I’d prefer to discontinue with the stripes, and have red and white halves, or the Keegan era kit.

Only negative on home kit is it looks like it’s a plain red back and the logo looks to be a sticker, but least it’s not a big rectangular one.

I see there's no blue present in P&O's logo, must have been a funny conversation during the negotiations.

Not keen on the candy stripes, but I guess there's a lot of nostalgia towards it, as with the Danish kit two seasons ago.

I mean if someone has gone to all that effort to fake it then fair play (and what a waste of time).

I guess we'll find out, but as it is 50 years since the FA Cup win I wouldn't be surprised if that was the design

It isn't a kit design that was used in the 1975/76 season, so doesn't work as a FA Cup winning tribute kit. It would be like using the 2024/25 '12 point' Premier League kit design as a template for a 2023/24 Championship promotion kit tribute.

It was used from 1976 though, the kit before then was more generic stripes. So this would work better as a 'nod' to 1976 (even if, as you say, it was the season afterwards). But the year matters, right? ;)

The stripe on the right goes down part way then vanishes. There's a double dark red stripe descending into the badge on the collar side. A collar that, as posted, does not fit the neck it's supposed to be attached to.

Logo looks off colour too.

Here's hoping it's a design they do end up using though.

Happy days if it is this, a fitting tribute to 1976, although I expected the away kit to be pure Bobby Stokes. Either way a very good set of kits.

The Hummel 80s throwback was the first top I'd bought in 25 odd years but for that home I may go in again this season.

The sleeves / shoulder detail on the home looks shite with that red half merging from top and bottom. They always have to find some way to cock it up 🤦

Quite like all of them tbh. Nice to see a football shirt with a collar again! Only downside is the sponsor block on the away shirt, oh and Stephens modelling the home shirt.
