Need someone with some bollocks to ask direct questions.

Is that really question you’d like asked yourself because you don’t know the answer? I’m going tonight but wonder if that’s a useful question. I’m sure they would say they are working on it and that’s that.

For a question asked to be worthwhile has to be one in which they cannot trot out a standard approved answer without even having to think.

They are not going to reveal “state secrets “ - they are not going to reveal who is leaving they are not going to say what the most they will spend is on a player they will not commit to a final points tally or position or even formation or playing style unless it’s the generic “ attacking and pressing” answer. Shouting at them for last years failures will only make you look stupid. Criticising SR for last year - fine- but it’s not a question it’s just a rant.

Im considering the following though re SR

Preamble: “Last year the club was unprepared and uncompetitive in every footballing way possible”

Actual question  What specific management and player performance evaluation measures have you installed to ensure that will not recur - or if it does it’s identified quicker and appropriate action taken.

Follow up : My view is that as much as it was Russell Martins team it was obvious that the support and advice he received was inadequate or incompetent or both. There’s been changes but what truthfully have the Board learned?

not happening and not much incentive for the player to go either

On another note, Dibling has just liked an EFC related Instagram post about them getting Grealish on loan. Why do players about to leave their club do that?

Well as it will be Grealish taking his place in the transfer saga, it could be seen that he's quite happy not to go

Heard anything about us signing Didier Baptiste?

Also heard we were trying to sign Karl Fletcher before he got murdered so switched our attention to Luis Amor Rodriguez who wants to leave his current club after the chairman tried to shoot him for banging his wife.

Just shows our lack of ambition. We should be aiming for that Luke Davenport, the bloke has better vision that any other forward.

I used to know a couple of people within the club, two of the transfers we got in at the end of last summer I called in late July.

Although I don’t hear as much nowadays.

Thats why when I read things with no substance on social media and then they end up on here I just roll my eyes in embarrassment. There were two “rumours” yesterday morning alone.

A few years back I posted a fake rumour and within maybe 48 hours it appeared on here. 🤣

Antonio from West Ham. One last season bullying the Champ? Would love to see it but of course would never happen. Or could it?

Callum Wilson now there and so his place will be under threat

he has. Think it was revealed several days ago, although a story on BBC has only just posted about his official release.

They didn't renew Antonios contract, so he's a freebie now. Feels like a Wrexham or Birmingham style signing though.

Interesting that the fee turned out to be just £6m, so, pretty much what we supposedly offered. Whether or not Sheff United turned us down (because we are a rival) or they accept the fee but he simply chose Feyenoord, we'll never know.

or perhaps we never even bid for him. The new CB was on the cards at the back end of last season so unless we needed another then i think its unlikely.

Southampton have had a bid for Coventry's Jack Rudoni rejected by their Championship rivals.

Saints made a hopeful move for the midfielder, but their offer fell well below Coventry's asking price.

It is unclear whether Saints will now return with a bigger offer. Frank Lampard is reluctant to sell the 24-year-old after he made 43 Championship appearances last season.

Rudoni bagged an impressive nine goals and registered 12 assists from midfield.

Southampton may need midfield additions this summer with a number of players expected to leave.

Mateus Fernandes and Joe Aribo are expected to depart, while Will Smallbone moving on has not been ruled out.

Flynn Downes and Shea Charles are expected to be regular starters for Will Still's side.

Obviously no idea how true this is but, if true rings the usual alarm bells. Are we going to play hardball with the likes of Everton over Dibling and, at the same time, make derisory offers for potential decent signings like Rudoni? If so it only end one way.

Hey Turks, I may be needed in COT as I called this a couple of days ago 😀 Id like this signing BTW

I mean I'm basing this on total boredom but we could potentially see the following events:

Aribo, Dibling & Fernandes (crying) depart

replaced by

Fellows, Rudoni & another? Wonder if we 'go back in' for Rak-Sakyi.

You might be right, and I am not too sure of the credibility of the source, but slightly left field to have us bidding if we didn't. He also seems to have decent insight about Sheffield football. The same poster said Bannan wanted to stay at Wednesday a week before he signed a new deal. he also said Ducksch to Brum back in July (that deal went through today) - perhaps that was widely know, I am not sure?.

Maybe we still want to offload other CBs and want a top quality CB to replace Bednarek. It feels a stretch. I guess it matters little now

He's said on Tuesday that Hamer wants out of Sheff United.

Rudoni certainly fits the bill in terms of the physical profile we want and if you look at Coventry last season it was pretty much crosses into the box all the way with Rudoni often arriving late into the box.  Get the impression that's a similar style to what Still wants to implement too.  Looks like a lot of his assists were from corners which will be handy with Quarshie, Downs and Stewart in the squad.

...at last we start to get the nice part of the transfer window (with losing you best talent being the bad part)...the hope and excitement links to players like Rudoni, Spertsyan and Fellows.

I'd guess it would be one or the other between those two if being eyed for the AMC role in the 4231.

You're probably right due to the cost both would incur however Spertsyan played mostly on the left of that three last season.

Jack Rudoni is represented by the same agents as Will Still, Quarshie, Edozie, Harwood-Bellis and Archer - so they're well known to the club and Spors has already done business with them twice this summer...

Not sure Coventry fans have picked up on that, as I'm currently seeing Cov fans denying he'd be interested in coming to Saints. Can't imagine we haven't checked in with him and his representatives based on the above

It's just the way that all transfer negotiations work. Or any kind of auction for that matter. You have an idea in your head what's the maximum you're prepared to pay before walking away, then you start much lower than that.

There would be much louder alarm bells if the club were going in close to Cov's valuation with our very first bid.

Not much change out of 30m though

And neither should there be. If these rumours are true then I'm very pleased we are looking at some proven Championship quality.

But that's fine. Still £15m left out of selling one of our two crown jewels.

43:47 Preview of Southampton for this season

They think we have an absurd squad for this level.

They have zero fucking clue these two. The whopper talking about Pompey has literally read a tweet from a well known (bit of a whopper) football analyst in Pompey and passed the knowledge off as his own.

Am I the only one who thinks we're weaker than the group that came down last time?

I don't personally right now, but TBF most on here thought that team was the best in the League - better than Leeds & Leicester.

All the experts think Shea could be the best midfielder in the league this year, so that's certainly a positive and better than Smallbone from 2023.

KWP is a loss, but don't think anyone else really is versus that 2023 team, and at the moment we have Dibling and Fernandes as well. Where do you think we're weaker?

I'd say we're roughly similar. Swap Adams for Archer, both great in the champ. Bednarek for Quarshie - different strengths. Stu Armstrong I'd say we miss, and KWP. But we have a much better version of Charles than last time, and Edwards. Also Jay Robinson and Sesay look  promising. Add Sugawara and Welington and you've got a decent number of options at least.

Maye they are expecting THB to go before the end of August so that would open up a slot particularly if Wood goes on loan.

I agree, unless Rudoni plays from slightly deeper...the 6, 8 or 10 position conversation.

We always gets posts like "I hope we have more than one target", and it seems we have made bids for both, at various points in the window.
