Poor old JWP is getting pelters from the fans.
Disappointed for him as he did well for us.
Re Fernandes, I wonder if we would be interested  in re signing him if we went up and the Hammers were relegated

Wouldn't it be great if we get promotion, and West Ham get relegated.

I don't mean that against Fernandes, as I really like the chap, and do not begrudge him a move (no matter how bad it was).

Just would be great to ee them go down.

Anyone else think he's a little overrated ? Don't get me wrong he was by far our best player but it's all relative. He was the best player in the second worst performing prem team in history. I'm not sure he is as good as we think he is.

What I have said to West Ham supporters I know is that Fernandes is a very good player, but far from the level needed to transform their team

Yes I think that's right. He has potential to be a very good prem level player but it's not like he was getting buckets of assists and goals. He wasn't at the same level as someone like Lavia or livramento in their positions imo.

Unfortunatly not , fielding said to be difficult once the dew had settled on the outfield . Plus wood could only manage 2 overs. I think they did well in the competition though.

Wrexham defence wide open, but that is some finish.

Amusing how bad their defence is, the third is just as bad. Must be nice having so much time to pick a spot.

Liverpool have had 19 shots 2 on target so far , Burnley 2 shots off target struggling ,  glad Saints didn't stay up really,  so unequal in the Prem.

80% Liverpool possession!

For some reason not considered good enough for us though. I'm sure Downs will prove better value in the long run 🙂

If I was Wilder I'd say thanks, but no thanks. But he probably fancies the $$$.

They could still be paying him under his last contract, he only lost his job a couple of months ago!

That's crazy, but he will improve them

I see Wilcox continues to make zero difference to the ongoing demise of Man Utd. Think he talked the talk but can't walk the walk.

They have the players but they are being played in the wrong position with the wrong set up says Danny Murphy and the Manager believes in his system and won't change ,  sounds familiar to us Saints fans 😄

It an amazing job isnt it. Perfect job for Russell Martin. Come up with a philiosphy, identity call it what you want, bring in people to do it, if they screw up sack them and repeat. All the credit and power non of the responsibility.

He's a Blades fan which helps. Any other club and he'd probably tell them where to go but he'll probably get hero status now at his favourite club whatever happens this season. Mad owners to get rid of him in the first place. Leeds stuck with Farke after we went up and they went up the next season. Sheff Utd could have done the same. Good for us I suppose.

Boro tonight looked good value for their position at the top of the table. Strong all over the pitch and their second goal was an example of the pass and move football we should be well capable of. We need a run of wins to get back into contention. The next 5-6 games will tell us a lot about our direction of travel but maybe this is going to be a transitional season where we don't mount a challenge for the top six. Hard to guess which way it'll go for us.

Yes, we will learn a lot in the next couple of games if we can mount a play off  challenge. So far you have to say we are no where near the level required.

Still has had the new signings all week now so let’s fuck the excuses and start getting results.

They have a new manager (hot off a relegation with a team on parachute payments), lost their many goal supplier, who was the 2nd best player....and there they are.

I guess the proof of the pudding will be after 46 games. I truly believe we will be above them, certainly top 6, hopefully top 2.
Our squad is comfortably better than everyone except possibly Leicester and Ipswich. Pisses over the rest. Down to Will Still to get the players playing as a team, and I believe he will.
Give the guy at least until Christmas 🎄 to get some form and continuity, see where the land lies then. COYR 🤞🤞

Wolves, played 5, lost 5.

How long until people start talking about a 12 point season. They look hopeless.

West Ham also look poor, surely Fernandes couldn't get relegated again. Two relegations at the age of 22 would have to be a record 😂

They were utter crap early last season but got away with it again. They remind me of Everton a few years ago, never seem to flush.

That being said, the promoted three are actually holding their own collectively this year. All that hot air about the divisional gap getting too wide just seems like a cope now.

Sunderland about to be on 3/4 of our points total of last season.

This is game 5!

Does this mean we can stop talking about the gulf between Championship and PL getting wider each season? None of promoted sides lost this weekend

Sunderland doing everything in this game that we failed to do last year. Defending well, incisive forward passing, taking their chance when it came. They have a decent chance of staying up I think.

If they play in red and white stripes, I'm switching...hey.... 🙂

Millwall look better than us. Watford look dreadful and yet managed to draw with us.

Only saints under SR could spend over 50m in a league where some clubs can only afford a budget of a hundredth of that, and still be one of the worst teams in the league. Absolutely shambolic running of a football club

Smallbone making a decent impact as a sub.

Pleased for him after the stick he took here, must be smiling to himself seeing them 4 points ahead of us in the table.

Millwall unspectacular tonight but they really work hard as a unit, battling for the 1-0 , need to get that effort from our lads

Millwall now just 2 points off second spot - who'd have thought it? 🙂

Quite. I think a lot of people, neutrals included, were blinded by the “Sport Republic effect” and assumed that the gap was getting far too difficult to bridge for all newly promoted clubs based largely on our performances, rather than taking us in isolation as a horrifically poorly run football club who were so under prepared it was untrue.

It’s key not to tar other clubs with the same brush, who actually have a clue how run their club, with our premier league “effort” last season.

Sunderland definitely showing our lot up a lot. Went up through the play-offs with a team that on paper looked weaker than our play-off winning team. Then they sold Jobe Bellingham. But, after that they made numerous signings around the £20m mark. They even signed one player for £30m, smashing our transfer record. Got a decent goalkeeper from Holland as well for £11.5m, so they do exist, you just need a good scouting team. Granit Xhaka was a smart buy for their Premier League experienced signing too. They also made eight of their signings before August. Giving their new signings a pre-season.

While, when we went up we were signing Adam Lallana, Charlie Taylor and Ryan Fraser on frees, Nathan Wood and Ronnie Edwards for small fees and Sugawara and Brereton-Diaz weren't that much either, while Cameron Archer was hardly an ambitious signing.

We were haggling over fees for Liam Delap, Matt O'Riley and Fabio Carvalho, while Sunderland were a lot more aggressive in the market. Identified a talent and signed him.

This.

Can’t really dwell on it now, it’ll always be a shame we never properly went for it but it is what it is.

That is the tactical genius of SR. You can hope they’ve learnt from their mistakes, but given their lack of admittance to learning from past errors, I doubt it.

Just shows how useless the table positions are this early in the season. Millwall will be bottom half come the end of the season.

Given that they seem hell bent on doubling down on their horrific mistake with Bazunu and the copious other horrors they’ve made, fair to say that humility and writing off their mistakes is not in the make up of their boardroom.
