Will Still's results against Lens last season were a 1-0 defeat at PSG (with 10 men) and a 2-1 home defeat, the winner coming 4 mins from the end. With Reims the season before that they drew 2-2 at PSG. So from a tactical stand point he'll set us up to be difficult to beat at least. Might not be a bad thing because we're shit when we have lots of the ball. That's probably the most interesting thing about the fixture, tactics will be different, no idea what XI Still will go with though, you'd have thought a number of changes

Less pressure and expectation for a win. Can we get the basics right. Be organised. Difficult to break down. That said, these games often don't tell us anything more about a season. Complete outlier in terms of performance, players used and attitude. 1

Draino76 Posted Monday at 20:00 Posted Monday at 20:00 I'm pretty sure he said 'crumple' and not 'crumble'. I'm not sure this makes much difference, but it's certainly something to think about. 3

Dr Who? Posted Monday at 20:38 Posted Monday at 20:38 I might just avoid this one and watch the Carlisle game instead. We are going out, just hope we keep it respectable.
Andy Hill Posted Monday at 21:36 Posted Monday at 21:36 We will be lucky to get nil with our inept strikers.

Pwoite Posted Tuesday at 08:48 Posted Tuesday at 08:48 Look, we played well for the first twenty minutes on Saturday, so Still should start with that eleven, but tweak it slightly. Obviously, McCarthy should start. He might consider the same back four, though swapping out the central defenders, as they were prone to errors. Mads was not the best, so also needs resting. In the centre, we know we have the strongest players, on paper, in the Championship, but Downes could be brought back, and it’s an opportunity for Aribo to show….. The attacking midfield did little wrong, apart from lacking control, not creating chances and giving the ball away, so they can be replaced wholesale, whilst maintaining our strategy of rotating the striker means it’s probably Matsuki’s turn to start. With Still’s clear game plan, the players ability to respond and the team all having a lucky rabbit’s foot hidden in their shorts, what could possibly go wrong???? Ive bought a lottery ticket, on the principle I’ve a better chance of winning than Saints have tonight! 3
Football Special Posted Tuesday at 09:31 Posted Tuesday at 09:31 Tonight's big cup tie, the one that really matters....no doubt home support will include the local idiot with a bell and a wig 1 1
DT Posted Tuesday at 09:40 Posted Tuesday at 09:40 It's okay, our manager is good on computers. And his Monday Night Football performance with a screen was definitely enough to get him a job as Saints boss. Definitely. Hope he has a good goal counter on tonight.

gio1saints Posted Tuesday at 11:10 Posted Tuesday at 11:10 Liverpool play a433 so I’d add an extra bodies in the middle of the park. Every match we look weak there. A formation that floods the midfield centre a bit more and makes us more competitive on first and second balls I’m in favour of. The MF can all run their arses off for sixty minutes then get replaced frankly. Typically that might be something akin to a 4 2 3 1. Putting names to the formation : Mccarthy Mads. Woods. Quarsie. Gelert Charles. Casper Scienza Azaz. Robinson Armstrong( or RA/DD) Bench : Fellowes Downes Sesay Matsuki, Manning, Cam, 2 other forwards & an U21. Probably still get smashed but it’s an opportunity to get a look at a different formation free hit.

Charlie Wayman Posted Tuesday at 13:53 Posted Tuesday at 13:53 (edited) So the players he picks tonight deserve to play whereas the ones that don't didn't deserve to anyway. Pretty devisive don't you think? What kind of message does that send to squad members who don't make the starting XI or the bench? Very clumsy choice of words that will come back to bite him. I'll wager a bet that Will's mates Shoehorn, Wee Man and Manning will get a game. Edited Tuesday at 13:59 by Charlie Wayman 1

Wade Garrett Posted Tuesday at 14:18 Posted Tuesday at 14:18 Personally, I don't want to see Bazunu, Harwood-Bellis, Stephens and Downs anywhere near the first XI. I'm tempted to include Manning and the RB as well, but not sure about their replacements.
