Latest odds:

Eckert, O'Neill, Rodgers, Carrick.

Not sure they know anything (the bookies)

Amused (terrified) to see Jesse Marsch in there.

Odds reflect where punters have placed bets, not the liklihood of an event happening.

All it takes is for a few Saints fans to read and place bets after Alan Nixon or Alex Crook have said a random manager is getting the job and that manager's odds will shorten even though the story is nonsense.

It does not take much money in next manger odd markets to move them.

It’s going to get to the point of beggars can’t be choosers very quickly 😂

For example, Russell Martin is far from anyone’s interest right now but if you were left with the options of him, Jesse Marsch, Tonda Eckhart or Gary O’Neill…

Got to be Viera.

He really fancies living in Winchester, but less keen on Romsey.

Wondering if Viera - despite his iffy managerial record - might be an optimal choice… big name, bit of ‘glamour’/media attention, potential loans from Arsenal/Man City, and perhaps most importantly from an SR perspective - the chance to promote TE as #2 (as he was at Genoa), with an eye on succession planning…

[NB I doubt very much he wants the job!]

I’d have all 3 before Martin.

Looking at the realistic options on that list, I’m guessing Carrick is the most obvious? Assuming SR don’t go full SR and appoint Tonda…..

Although that is partly true it does not negate that it can be influenced by the likelihood of who the manager will be.

There have been several occasions, from memory, when there have been concerns about inside information impacting on markets (was it Harry R or is that just me stereotyping?).

Also, market will also be influenced by genuine possibilities.

SR ‘doing SR’ is worryingly likely…

Betting odds reflect the betting market but also take into account other factors that impact on probability. As an absurd hypothetical - Poch quits the USA citing his desire to rekindle his love of Southampton. He might not get the job. People might not bet on him. But the odds would naturally come down to protect the bookies profit margins in case it DID happen. Or, for a less absurd example, the odds are likely to be lower for somebody without a club with championship experience even if nobody is betting on them specifically.

I take the point that in the absence of much concrete information about who we are looking at fluctuations are most likely a result of betting patterns but reject your conclusion that odds do not reflect the likelihood of an event happening. That’s what they are.

Apparently the last manager got a few good results before being appointed ,  since then Swansea have 4 wins so he had to go . So interim managers should not be judged by their early results before appointment full time 😄

Tonda is getting the gig, this season is irrelevant now anyway. May as well give it to him and wait for better options in the summer.

Plus I piled in at 15/2 before the QPR game.

I’m fully expecting Tonda to be announced as the new manager on the Monday after the Charlton game

Thumping win for Charlton then…

It's been 10 days since Will Still left.

Is it unrealistic to expect the club to give fans an update on the process?

When are the Fan Advisory Board next due to assemble?

Do we need to get Stu Romsey Saints to take him on a tour of Romsey? Maybe they could meet up for "chat"

Why is this season irrelevant? We are 3 wins off the playoffs. Giving the job to Tonda would be a ridiculous decision in my view.

Given their apparent penchant for pulling out of 'difficult' interviews, I would suggest totally unrealistic...

Totally agree writing of this season is mental, I think our shot at the auto's is gone but there is nearly always a team that climbs up into the play offs and we are not that far off.

Not true, movement in odds is not exclusive to Saints fans placing money in the market.

I did not say it was exclusive to Saints fans.

Yes you did

”All it takes is a few Saints fans to place bets”

In fact, it doesn’t have to be a few, it could be 1 or 100.

Please be more specific in your posts.

That sentence does not imply exclusivity. It provided an example.

I doubt Will still interviewed. He’s been back in Belgium with family pretty since his sacking.

Pinch of salt that.

How many interviews would Spors require for the 'preferred candidate(s)'? Martin said that he had numerous interviews before being appointed at Rangers, and Ekhart said that he had 4 (I think) interviews at Saints before getting the U-21 job. I know both of those situations were in the close season, but I'd imagine that Spors & the Board would want to interview those short listed more than once........

I don’t really get the upside of appointment these young inexperienced managers on the up and I’d have even included rohl in that category it’s not like your gonna make profits out of it it just means the manager is way more unproven and risky then going for someone with a lot of experience

Yes, been going on for years. There is a whole section on the website, including meeting minutes.

Theres such things as Teams, Zoom, Goole Meet etc which makes talking "in person" so much easier nowadays😂

Not like you can't conduct an interview via Teams or such is it?

I’m calling bullshit on the photoshoot of its manager related.

There’s no way anything like that wouldn’t leak, then again if it’s Tonda Eckhart who would know the difference. 😂
