SWLondon Saint Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Also got no idea why he puts Downs on the bench if he doesn't think he can make an impact, it can't be any better for his confidence than just being put in the u21s for a few games. 2

bugenhagen Posted November 1 Posted November 1 As we have very little chance of hanging onto a 1-0 lead, the way for us to win in this division (until we build confidence) is to get into a 2 or 3 goal lead, and hope that the opposition gives up a little and takes their foot off the gas. No point in trying to be solid in numbers at the back, as we crumble under pressure no matter how many bodies we put back there. 2
chownie20 Posted November 1 Posted November 1 5 minutes ago, AlexLaw76 said: Azaz will play 'from' wide, I should imagine. We will be WIIIIIIDE open in the middle of the park, that is for sure. Unless Edwards is actually going to play further forward? 433 Edwards CM.... please!!!! 1
saintant Posted November 1 Posted November 1 (edited) No excuse for not ditching the failing 3 centre back system today. Should have gone 4231 and he'll have a lot of explaining to do if his line up doesn't pay off because the vast majority of us can see it doesn't work and are sick to the back teeth of it. He's making it very hard to back him and call for more time because he doesn't help himself. Edited November 1 by saintant 4
sockeye Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Only one spot above the relegation zone. Not sure how much time Still has left if he can't grab the majority of points before the next international break.
pingpong Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Back 3 again, not sure why he still persists in such attacking formations when we need to be more solid.
RedArmy Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I think it’s pretty fucking clear he is following orders with the formation. His comments this week about 4-2-3-1 being his favourite formation underline that for me. 3
LaptopSaint Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Love the back 5! No idea why Fellows makes the bench. He might come on and create something ffs
DT Posted November 1 Posted November 1 McCarthy in goal, Armstrong in attack and Will Still as coach equals away win. Hopefully by enough to catalyse some action, finally. 1

ant Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Starting lineup looks gross. Feeling pretty fucking despondent on the walk to the ground. The guilt of having bought a season ticket when money is tight is more of a motivating factor to attend than any anticipation of enjoyment. 4

Who would force the manager to persist with a formation that is shit and doesn't work? Particularly at home. 4
AlexLaw76 Posted November 1 Posted November 1 (edited) This will probably be our ugly 1 win in 5 or so...you know, because we again have a far better group of players than the opposition. That will be followed by many saying "see, SEE...it is all coming together" Edited November 1 by AlexLaw76

SambaMaverick Posted November 1 Posted November 1 5 defenders, two holding midfielders... Still is petrified
Saint NL Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Well at least we can't drop into the bottom three today, it'd take a big Sheffield United win and a heavy loss for us.

Osvaldorama Posted November 1 Posted November 1 absolutely shocking lineup. I cannot believe how negative this manager is
UpweySaint Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I’m not in the Still out camp (yet!) but that sort of selection puts a lot of pressure on him. Has the feel of a must win to get our season going again and give Still a bit of breathing space. Also feels like a big game for Azaz - still yet to see much of anything from him so far. Good to see Matsuki on the bench, I’ve liked him in the little I have seen of him. The November fixture list looks relatively forgiving so if we can find some momentum we could start moving up the table.

Unless Edwards is actually going to play further forward? Nah, he didn't put Edwards in MF the other day, he put Stephens there even though he's probably worse on the ball so it'll be the back 3. I reckon Azaz will drop back into mf when we don't have the ball to match up as they normally play 3 at the back as well.
Willo of Whiteley Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Five at the back. I can see the fans getting on the teams back

Willo of Whiteley Posted November 1 Posted November 1 All he is doing is going to add the pressure on himself
Tommy Posted November 1 Posted November 1 7 defensive out field players in a must win home fixture. The cowardice continues pissing down, gonna get soaked on walk back to the car, should have just stayed home.
CB Fry Posted November 1 Posted November 1 4 minutes ago, RedArmy said: Rasmus Wankface is another Russell Martin, losing playing your way is more important than winning ugly. What "orders" are there that involve paying 15 odd million on the best winger in the league and not playing him? There are no "orders". 3

hypochondriac Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Let's say we played four at the back and he lost. He'd be under pressure but at least he would have tried to do the right thing. If he loses now he's really left himself open to relentless abuse. 2

If this is true he needs to have the balls to call out those at the club who are telling him what formation to play. Personally I think he's deciding on 3 centre halves but I have no idea why he's persisting with it.
Willo of Whiteley Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Osmajic is absolutely going to bully our defence, and Flynn Downes is definitely getting a yellow card along the way.

OttawaSaint Posted November 1 Posted November 1 If the 3CBs was working then fine, continue with it but it hasn't. No reason not to go to a 4. This is maddening. Why have been subjected to some of the most stubborn twats on the planet as managers?
