Feyenoord monitoring Edozie.

I know it's phraseology, but "monitoring" what exactly? Monitoring whether anyone else puts a bid in before they offer buttons at the 12th hour?

They are "considering making an approach". I'd of thought if they were interested, they'd of enquired some time ago (which they may have). I guess the later teams leave it the better deal they think they can get. Just how much if his wages do they want us to pay you wonder?

Yeah I’m not sure I see it. Maybe monitoring is ‘an as option should Brathwaite leave in the summer’.

I can’t see them dropping £20mil on THB in January but they could come back in the summer. I read they need a right back so I expect they’ll be prioritising that if anything in January.

In the dugouts. They're the bestestest.

Absolutely nailed-on that West Ham will want THB in the summer to add to their “let’s rebuild Southampton’s terrible relegation side” project they’ve been piecing together for a few years.

So to summarise, we are desperate to sign a striker but not a single one linked all window other than very loose Piroe assumptions.

Ins - Peretz, Bree return

Outgoings - Edwards, Bazunu, Downs, Fraser.

Linked with leaving:

Larios - recalled and permanent move pending confirmation

Archer - linked with Rangers

Arma - Linked with Wrexham, Boro, Stoke and Ipswich plus ‘options’ abroad

Edozie - linked with Feyenoord

THB - linked with Burnley, Everton and WHU

Aribo - likely sit on our wages till summer.

Linked with arriving:

Unknown striker

18yo CB

Lots of rumours about first team players leaving and the only rumoured in we've had is an 18 year old centre back no one has ever heard of. Classic.

Probably. Even at a discount, Rangers don't spend £10m+ these days

With PSR, clubs seem to keep players on the books, letting their value depreciate (while they are perhaps sent out on loan) rather than selling earlier at a loss.

Someone who knows accounting and PSR better than me can put me straight, but I guess it's along the lines:
Buy £20m (player on a 4 year deal). Player value goes down £5m each year. After year 1, value is down to £15m, with £5m 'loss' accounted for in PSR. Alternatively, if you sell that player for £10m after one year, that puts a £10m hole in your accounts rather than the £5m depreciation. For me, getting £10m back is better than £0 if you allowed the player to stay for four years while continually going out on loan, but maybe PSR is more of an issue than cash flow.

Standard SR tactics as per our last promotion to the Premier League. Sell experience, gamble on youth.

Not sure the cub are "desperate" to sign a striker.

If we're really lucky, could be the first signs of SR cashing out...

Under 21 coach promoted to first team coach.

Sell all the players.

Under 21 players promoted to first team.

Genius if you think about it

When you fill your team with mediocrity that you then have to loan out because you can't sell then this is where you wind up.

Well those words have been used by excitable journalists but we really should be:

Arma - looks off

Archer - trying to leave again?

Downs - already loaned out

Stewart - not able to stay fit for long

Good luck making that deal. He's scoring goals for fun for them isn't he?

Does feel like one of those 2 will be leaving though. But who is their replacement?!

If I was Archer, I'd be looking for a move. If I was Armstrong I wouldn't turn my nose up at a move to Boro or Wrexham.
A little `smoke' around both does suggests that moves are possible, but they will be dependant on us finding someone.

Dylan Lawlor might be a good replacement, although Cardiff would be reluctant sellers.

18 in 19 league games. Not happening, but they're now out of Europe and despite being second in the league are 14 points off leaders PSV...

We did feel this way in the summer and then Fellows, Azaz and Scienza all appeared with little chat beforehand. Not saying it will happen this time of course.

Quite a jump from league 1. Its mute as he won't leave Cardiff for us.

We're not bringing players in (certainly perms unless incredibly cheap). We spent so much in the Summer and then getting rid of Still we're not prepared to spend any more.

For me, right now, shaping up for a 7.5 out of 10 window.

Makes sense. No one was complaining about a lack of spending last summer. It's not a bottomless pit. The players that are here need to up their game, come together as a side and start getting some results.  Hopefully there will be some money to spend next summer, although it will require plenty more outward loans and might require sales of the likes of Armstrong to fund it.

As it stands now, getting the current value taking amortisation into account, should be considered.

But the club is such a tactical basket case. The next manager we get might well want two up front, with one of them being more of a finisher. So, more like Archer.

They have to obtain some knowledge of what they think it's going to take for promotion, and what that squad should be like. But they are more concerned with player trading than coherent team building.

There's a nice feeling knowing we can doom other clubs with our player sales. See also Leicester.

I still chuckle at them taking Vestergaard and Bertrand. Before that, offloading McGoldrick (and getting Sir Rickie using the funds), Fox and Harding to Forest.

I reckon Dragan has had enough and is clearing the decks

You aren't alone. I guess the next couple of days will give some clarity. If we do sell THB, AA, and Archer, without significant reinvestment, then we'd have blatantly given up on this season and potentially any pretext of getting promoted - and it really would start to look like them readying for a sale.

Good news. I want the cancer removed -both players and the management. Some short term pain for long term gain

Really strange that Edozie has been ostracised???? What exactly is going on behind the scenes? When you consider some of the players we have brought in who are downright crap it truly makes you gasp…

Unlikely to be a Carillo or Ankersen Brewster’s millions window this time. Not that this is much relief.

Absolutely no idea. Still said he was injured but then reports came out that he's been fit all year. Even if we didn't want him long term you'd think we'd have been playing him to keep his value up.

I'd of thought Dragon would want to be in the PL before selling, otherwise he will lose money. I would guess its pretty tough selling championship sides for good money too. Getting to the PL is not beyond the realms of imagination this or next season. With one more parachute payment year left, SR will think they have a decent chance of promotion. We may struggle to see that happening right now, but they probably don't.

How would reducing the quality of the playing squad and deciding to target a bottom half championship make the club more attractive to a buyer?

Yes we spent a lot in the summer but we also received c. £70 million for Matty and Dibling. Surely the kitty isn't empty.

For what its worth, transfermarkt says net transfer income:

24/25 -EUR81.46m

25/26 +EUR73.46m

But transfer fees are only a part of the financial story. The parachute payment is a lot less than the PL money. Wages are less, to help offset that.  But the long and short of it is that the club loses money and transfers have had to make up the shortfall to the tune of about £25m-35m over the last few years. We shall see what the 2025 accounts say in a few months, but I doubt we are flush.
