I think Spors might have pulled off a masterstroke here lads

Yes, and it’s not Bundesliga 2!

8 hours left before the window slams shut. No other names have been mentioned, so it's fair to assume it's Larin or no-one.

Don't worry, SR are relaxed about the situation

Rasmus does need a replacement for Juan at Goztepe

I expect the intention is to spend 5-6m on him, then sell him to our parent club , Goztepe for 500k in the summer , and then they’ll cash in for 20 million for him in a couple years time

6 foot 3, so definitely going for a taller striker this window.

My Canadian mate lives in Mallorca and is actually a season ticket holder at Feyernord.

He reckons Larin is the greatest player he’s seen since Guido Carillo.  He says don’t be fooled by the fact he couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo - his xG is off the scale.

Pretty sure he's coming - and that we're going to need a bigger banjo.

and he is our main target

Really? Both would equally be considered a huge gamble. At least the canadian has played (all be it not that well) at some competant level of european football.

If we like the look of this young fella, I hope its as a replacement for Archer, who clearly needs to go, and is considered '3rd choice'

Now, lets be clear, this Larin guy does not excite me one bit. However, (unless I'm mistaken) his stats are for the top leagues in the respective country. Thats not to say that all of those leagues are better than the Championship but it has some relevance within the context.

A fair point. I wonder what McBurnie or Keiffer Moore (often mentioned on here as the kind of player we should have signed) stats would look like is these divisions? McBurnie's time in LaLiga wasn't exactly fruitful goals wise.

McBurnie scored 13 in 80 games in the PL, 3 in 34 games for Las Palmas in LaLiga, 55 goals in 145 games in the championship.

Moore scored 5 in 35 in the PL. 69 goals in 226 games in the championship.

Larin scored 43 in 87 in MLS, 31 in 86 in Super Lig, 8 in 38 in the Jupiler Pro league, 18 in 86 in LaLiga, 0 in 8 in Eredivisie

Ruben Selles doing us a favour.

I had no idea he was now back out in Spain. How does he continue to get jobs😂

14 games, won 4, drawn 4, lost 6 in the spanish second division.

Looks like he'll be on the job hunt again soon.

3:07 We'll soon coach that out of him, cant have players tracking back with intensity and attempting to challenge the ball in defence.

Tall, strong guy. Nice first touch, decent feet...looks like he is willing to dribble. Very left footed. I like the look of him, but difficult to know if he can make the step up.

Been in meetings all morning and come on here hoping to see some news at least, what are our lot doing?!

Anyways, this Larin link does seem very 'Championship reality' - sas fact is if he had a better track record or was in top form he'd be looking for a move to one of the bigger leagues - PL, Series A, La liga or Bundesliga 1. Anyone who comes in is pretty much guaranteed to be either less well known, out of form or a young gamble...

Immediately a better option that Larin... Although he's have that by default by not being (called) Larin.

The reported opinions of Feyenoord and Mallorca fans (as well as recent stats) obviously don't fill us with optimism but for those on here going on and on (and on) about SR's scouting it would appear they are not alone in their crapness given that both those clubs took him on. We might also use Leicester recruiting Aribo as another example!

Perhaps it's just the financial reality of all of us skint minor clubs. My hope is that he really wants to play at the World Cup, so plays out of his skin and gets on the end of some of Fellows' lovely crosses, when we will all forgive him his clumsiness.

It does seem best to wait and see, although with Downs it didn't take long to come to an opinion..

The thing is, it's been reported that quite a few clubs in different countries have been interested in Larin and we are in pole position so he must have something about him. Still hoping we can utilise the pl loan market as well.

Damon Downs was wanted by other clubs. It isn't a mark of quality just because 'it's been reported'.

Indeed, and We were told at time that it was a real coup getting Downs over other supposed interest in him. Spors was patting himself on the back for signing him. How did that work out?

Clubs being interested in him doesn't mean anything to saints. This is what Gemini came up with when asked the unbiased question of "whether Larin is good enough for saints".

Doesn't sound like his match fitness / sharpness is up to much either tbh.

Who knows. Maybe fellows, scienza, and azaz will feed the donkey... Tbh I am more concerned that we have no cover for those 3 than the main striker. At least AA could have filled in on the wing - looks like are only plan for that is to rehabilitate edozie, which we're only doing because no one else wants him and we basically can't give him away 🤣

I assume the plan is to hope that Stewart stays fit and have this guy as the backup with Archer staying to provide an alternative if we can't get the young guy over the line. That does rather seem like we are settling for the rest of the season which is unfortunate for anyone planning to purchase a half season ticket if they still exist.

Another passenger then.

Well, what an exciting transfer deadline day this is. Will we sign Cyle Larin or won't we? I guess most of us are hoping for the latter. Failing that, at least we can look forward to that surge of hope we'll get when we manage to offload him at the end of the season.

Rumoured that Juan, who we loaned and sold to Goztepe, is set to be sold on to Lille - £20M.

Haha. We’re effectively Goztepe’s feeder club.
They’re the big dog in this multi-club model.

What a benefit! What a privilege! 🤣

I’ve suggested this over on the Sport Republic page but it’s being vehemently disputed by all of the usual suspects 🤣🤣

There’s a video with Rasmus telling their fans that they’re the main and biggest club in the model.

He's scored 6 goals in 21 games in Turkey. If he goes for £20m, that'll be good for us as we'll have some form of sell on clause. Had he stayed here, he wouldn't be getting a move anywhere close to €20m

They won't let us have any of their best players. They sold their star striker, Rômulo, to RB Lepzig for £20 mill in the last transfer window and now he's scoring goals in the Bundesliga.

£5m + add-ons + sell-on fee.

I don't know, I'd imagine he's one for the U21s initially, but he's playing first team football in Croatia right now. He is first choice for them too, playing the full 90 minutes in the last four games, scoring one and assisting one.

Done very well there to be honest.

Went from thinking we'd get £50m to thinking we'd get absolutely nothing for him in the space of a couple years.

Possibly, but I cant find any stories linking him to anyone else. His agent may have leaked the story to the press and mentioned that others were interested.
