I like your reasoning, I really do, but this is where I think the sentiment comes in, heart ruling head. 

Adkins was great for us at the time. But time has moved on. He’s had more ‘downs’ than ‘ups’ since leaving.
 

When he was here last time he had an ambitious squad eager to climb the league. These fuckers ??? Will the players respect him here now ? That’s questionable no matter how he has fans on his side. 
 

As Lord Duckhunter points out the comparison  with O’Neill at Celtic just doesn’t stand up.

We also had owners that had a clear plan, and there was a togetherness from the new age of Southampton Football Club. Anyone coming in under the current set up will struggle.

Seems pointless just dropping that link in here. Even if sacked at Spurs Frank will be linked with better and more prestigious jobs than mid-table Championship. 
 

People will point to the Danish and Brentford connection. But despite the passport, his time at Brentford will have given him firsthand insight into Rasmus being a knob. 
 

Interesting question from Frank though, which is the real one ? The organised team manager at Brentford or the bloke who was all at sea with Spurs ? Perhaps his time at Brentford was a success due to the structure (and recruitment) put in place by others (Giles). This isn’t meant to start a discussion on the merits of Frank - it’s irrelevant to us - but highlights the difficulty in assessing a manager/head coaches achievements at earlier clubs.

Sadly, the more damage they inflict on us (which has accelerated hugely this season), the less chance we have of ever appointing named or well known somewhat experienced managers.

It will be promising L1/L2 managers at a push which will be our ballpark come the summer. Obviously we didn't do too badly with Adkins, but it's a totally different context now. There's no new manager who fixes this IMO.

Proper championship managers, who have a good track record of getting the most out of the majority of players .

it has to be next season. Not Tonda, Wilfred Nancy or some other dickhead with no experience of high level football/championship football

Neither are a sect choice but both are effective and have performed better with less high profile players. That's the type of manager I'd be targeting.

Don’t be ridiculous, that ship sailed years ago. There was no chance he’d leave Brentford for a club of our size and there’s less chance he’d do so after spurs

Neil or Robins are good shouts - proper, decent football managers with Championship experience. Would SR pay the money to get them though? I genuinely think a revitalised Ralph would come back and do a great job. A wild card would be Gareth Southgate - would he be tempted to look at it as a long term ‘project’ (although hate that word!) of building the club back up.

Previously I'd have said no to Ralph coming back but given our current state I would certainly take him. No chance it would ever happen with SR in place though.

He wouldn't take any shit, plays 4 at the back and isn't fixated on passing the ball backwards and sideways for 90 minutes.
