Hope Henry calls out the fine and suspended sentence as going too far. The FA should also donate the money to the Woodland Trust presumably.

The final decision was finally handed down today.

This spying saga is coming to an end.

I think the club was severely punished last May, and today's final decision is the right one.

Now it's time to move forward—time to show who the biggest club in Hampshire is!

Tonda so pumped he’ll probably take on Pompey and Boro at the same time in a 3 way match.

The full 48-page written reasons report is now available to read on The FA's website: https://thefa.com/news/2026/oct/07/tonda-eckert-update-071026

I've only skimmed it, but it's pretty staggering how differently the EFL and FA panels assessed Tonda.

Para 127..."Mindful of the findings below, we nonetheless found Mr Eckert to be a particularly impressive witness. That another Commission, on another day, were unimpressed with some of his evidence is a matter we have considered, but it does not alter our impression of him as a very impressive witness in the evidence he gave
to us, both in writing but particularly during the hearing".

A degree of vindication.

Anyone want to wager if this is the boro rat? Also, this is the only mention of bullying in the report - i wonder if this opens up an avenue of legal recourse as clearly those chargers were trumped up to hammer home the EFL sanction and try and justify the decision to give both boro and the EFL their "final".

I could have told you all about this result as I was up a tree with my iPhone outside Lancaster Gate but chose not to. Suspect Man City will not get a lenient time of it, but there will be a superleague with all the big boys conspiring anyhow. Long live lower league footie

A long time to what might be the “right decision?”

It's the decision. For Tonda, the club and us fans it was the right one. I think he's a lucky boy, but he's our boy.

Used to quite like Winter but his lack of balls at even trying to investigate Man City but eagerness to denounce us (via Boro, no doubt) was pretty pitiful.

Well I never.... I thought there would be a definite Ban imposed straight away! ....  Tonda will be thinking it's almost worth spying again... Get an extra nice little six week holiday! 😂

What a relief. Mind you, we had already paid a hefty price having our play off final place taken away and with it the chance to win £200m. Let's really crack on now and show the Championship what our Saints are really made of, starting with Pompey. COYS!!!

Fair play to the FA. Thought they were going to leave it to just prior to the weekend to really fuck up the Portsmouth game but feels like they've done the opposite here.

Serious momentum going into the game. Hopefully as up for it a crowd can be at midday on a Sunday.

Nice that they had the impact on the fans in mind as well...banning him would be a further punishment on us, and club.

Para 163 "In the unusual circumstances of this case, we consider that it is appropriate to have regard to the impact a ban on Mr Eckert would have, irrespective of whether or not he loses his job. That regard must include the impact on the Club, its supporters
and stakeholders and what would, in the Commission’s view, unquestionably be the equivalent of a further sanction being imposed on them if their Head Coach was unavailable for a period of six weeks in the Championship season"

Reading though the sanction document, the FA wanted to impose a ban of three months from all footballing activity and a hefty fine. (Paragraph 108)

The Indepdent Panel told the FA to fuck off basically.

Extremely telling that the FA Panel's considered findings don't resemble the EFLs in any way shape or form.

Its almost like the 3 championship clubs on the EFL board (Who pushed for the sanction - Hull, Middlesbrough, and Portsmouth - All of which anted Middlesbrough in the final) and an evidently not impartial EFL panel (with 2 of the 3 members linked to Middlesbrough) stitched saints up royally in May. As a minimum this should never be forgotten by the club.

Yep, that's the gist of it, and they also had a  very different opinion of Tonda, and essentially saw it as a double punishment of the club, fans, sponsors, etc.
