How does that make me a fool, hoping one of our best players will stay? There has barely been any mention of THB going, there has been plenty of mention of him staying? I would prefer it that, as one of our best players, he stays.  We have just lost two of our best players, I think promotion this season is already going to be more of a challenge than a lot of people are expecting.

As nice as it sounds to turn down offers, if we stop him from going to a top club in the europa leauge (assuming he wants to go), we don't then get the next THB through the door.

Adam Blackmore has been clear all summer that we won't be standing in the way of the players who have been here longer than a season (Charles and THB.) I do think he will go but I was hoping it might be less likely given it's so close to the end of the window. Tbh I'd have preferred him to go in the first few weeks if he's off.

Yes, won’t work like that as a team not good enough for promotion will be almost entirely replaced with players no where near as good overall. The change and disruption will be huge.

as I said, not going up this year will probability mean we stay down for a very long time, like most other sides before us, including Coventry.

So the team that over the last 25 games (with this manager) that won more points than anyone isn't good enough to go up? Get a grip lad. 

If THB is sold then I would expect that a more than capable replacement is lined up. Quarshie not really being used in pre-season suggests hes nowhere near being a consideration so we probabaly need two CB in reality if THB is sold.

Why is that clear? Signing players like Jander and Scienza shows the current recruitment team is capable of spotting good players (even if they have mistakes like Downs).

yeah it's a weird sentiment, if anything the last 3 transfer windows have been extremely productive in my eyes and I'm confident we can identify good players, at the same time I really dont want to lose THB, I'd rather we lost any other player than him, I think he's the most important player in the squad.

What is he supposed to say? He's obviously for sale for the right price, it's just if anyone is prepared to pay what we would want. I don't think it's a coincidence that the media interviews this summer have been from Stephens, Manning, Larin and Downes.

It's not really his "job" to do that though to be fair?! He's not an employee of the club. What he's reporting is the bid is way below what the club value THB at, so they certainly won't be selling at that price or even near it. It's not his job to say we won't sell him at any price if that's what you want, unless someone at the club has explicitly said that, which they haven't.

Pretty sure Blackmore said in one of his shows this summer that after speaking to Solak in Slovenia, he had shared that Charles and Harwood-Bellis could go with his blessing this summer if there was an opportunity they wanted to pursue and the offer is acceptable, because they've been here for a few seasons and been good servants to the club, haven't caused the club issues etc.

Not sure he stated the names explicitly but I believe what he said was that those who had just joined last summer would not be free to leave with the implication being that those who have been here longer would be free to go if we received an acceptable offer. That was widely interpreted to be THB and Charles which I think is likely true. Whether that will still be the case with maybe a week of the window left I don't know. I hope not!
