Yeah, £3 million for Larin feels like we've been absolutely mugged off 🤦🏼‍♂️

That’s the point really, you’re going to win some and lose some, that’s the nature of this particular beast. Fans tend to look at deals in isolation, I doubt the brains at the top think that way. But the winning deals have really dominated in the last year or so. SR put their trust in Sheilds and Wilcox, and then through force of circumstance Rasmus got on over his head, that was the bad period.

So far, Spors has done a tremendous job. Also credit to Tonda, as I recall, when he took over he insisted we went for battle hardened experience, something we would never have done previously.  Previous regimes would have ignored Larin instead choosing to sign a Mara, hopping he’d turn into a Drogba.

Comparing Affengruber against Stephens and Wood, he's another upgrade.

Plus peretz and the two CBs can probably communicate in German, so loads of opposition teams won't have the fittest what we're doing.

Viking have just sold this lad to West Ham for £18m. Believable that they either don't want to sell Falchener now or that any deal for Falchener would get benchmarked at around £20m. Hard to believe that Spors will want/be able to spend that much on a centre back while we're in the second division

If they don’t sort it out I’m never buying a foam hand again.

Don't know much about either of the CB's we are currently looking at, is either of them considered to be much better than the other?

that's a tough question. Affengruber is a couple of years older, with 100 more games, so more experienced. Doesn't mean he is better though. Comparing them when one plays for a Spanish second division side, the other the Norwegian champions. Not easy. From the youtube vides, Affengruber looks like a no nonsense type. He spends a little more time sliding in than Id like of a top class defender, but he's certainly combative.

Falchener looks more stylish, but a Cb that wears his socks around his ankles is not for everyone. He seems to have an eye for a goal, which probably goes down as the least important part of a CBs game, but maybe suggests he is technically decent.  He looks a little quicker, but even that is hard to tell. I suggested Falchener a week or two ago, so he'd be my preference. He just looks more comfortable on the ball, so feels closer to THB in style.

Affengruber plays in La Liga for Elche, not second division.

Sky think Celtic are interested in Sugawara.

“But it’s understood the player is uncertain whether a move to the Scottish champions is the right one at this stage of his career.”

From the transfer centre.

I tried to format in a quote but it didn’t work.

This along with the original Ted Bates statue photo and that of the pillock with his phone are now part of the SFC folklore.

I can assure Yuki it’s better than a reserve/third choice RB (if Mads doesn’t get a loan move) at an English Championship club. 26 now so needs to get settled and his career moving again.

No, they aren't

They are in La Liga and were last season as well.

I realise I'm a bit hungover after going to a wedding yesterday, but for the life of me I can't think which one you're on about.

I hate to go all MLG on you, but that original sketch was for a new Bournemouth stadium complex... The originator being Lifelongcherry, aka Lifelongsaint, aka Marc Jackson...

He'd be an absolute hero up there as well, a marauding RB with a good shot and cross. Lack of decent opposition will cover for his defensive frailties.

Mmm, don’t see the rough pencil sketch i meant in that article atall. The one I remember definitely had SMS with an ‘extension’ and the infamous petting zoo. I wish I’d saved a copy - someone surely has it saved somewhere?

I wanna see:

Affengruber or Viking mush centre back.

A forward to rotate with Larin, target man hold up the ball.

Tyler Dibbs on loan can cover right wing and forward postions.

So 3 incomings and it'll be a decent window.

I seriously doubt we're getting another forward in and bumping Mubama down to third choice to barely get a look in.

I've got a copy somewhere... It was definitely for Bournemouth.... We sort of adopted it for SMS over the years...

I fail to see how Larin, Mubama and Dobbin (who isn't a striker) is stronger than Larin, Stewart and Archer.

I hadn’t heard of either until a few days agreed. Impossible for us to make any informed judgment really, although would now be happy to see either Falchener or Affengruber signed.

From the little seen and read, Falchener might have the edge in my book. Bit taller and a couple of years younger, although I have to remind myself that’s probably irrelevant as he’ll look to fuck off in a couple of years. But he does look more of a goal threat and the prospect of him,  Schlotterbeck and Larin getting on the end of a Manning free kick (as Saturday) or a JWP corner would be an exciting prospect. No idea how Affengruber matches up in that area.

But either would see us have the best defence in the division.

Anyway, back to the transfer window...!

How do both compare to THB on your computer game?

So really its

2025/6 - Stewart, Archer, Larin

2026/7 - Larin, Mubama

Weaker for sure.

I must admit when I hear we're linked with a player nowadays I have more than likely not heard of them so always pop over to FIFA or FM to see their stats. 😂

Thats how a loan would work though 😜

Another pic that amused me was those two ladies who usually get the coach to away games and were clearly obsessed with Russell Martin, as they sent a letter in to the Echo in his defence.
