A farce indeed. If we get through to the final our fans need to drown out the "show" with a half hour rendition of Wonderwall. F*** 'em.

Exactly - when I read about that half time show, I was genuinely livid ... fkn ridiculous

France haven’t turned up…

Spain have been class but France’s passing has been way off it. Really surprised

WAY off it, very odd - however I did say to my household that France haven't had to come from behind (I don't think?) so we'll see what sort of team they are. Turns out, they don't like being behind and sulk.

I just asked Gemini to create an "epic line of commentary" for this occasion, and I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if this is what Sam Matterface will say word for word (if Spain win):

"On the fourteenth of July, they sing of liberty! They dream of revolution! But tonight, the French barricades have crumbled before the relentless, golden storm of La Roja! The tricolor is lowered, the fireworks are silenced, and on the very day of their grand national rebellion, the French rooster has been tamed by the Spanish matadors! The World Cup dream... guillotined by Spain"

The worst thing is, you can just hear the needlessly smug twat uttering single word of that.

Roll on the BBC coverage. ITV are just painfully shit in comparison.

My friends, I’m lost for words tonight.

Spain continues to be our nemesis.

The Spanish often stay on the ground to waste time.

As for us, we didn’t manage to play our game.

Whoever reaches the final, I’m praying hard that the Spanish don’t become world champions.

France been disappointing. Over hyped as favourites to win WC. Too much pressure in the end. Where as no one expects England to win each game looking at previous performance.  All good for England to go under radar.

Only2 shots on goal all game , that's why it's boring and one of them a dubious penalty !

England penalty not given for leg guarding the ball , Spanish player jumps in front of french player , collision and Spain get free kick ?

Posted (edited)

MBappe can be electric but any talk of him being successor to Messi and Ronaldo is mad. Never in their prime would they be so anonymous in such a crucial game

I’d actually rather being playing France than Spain in the final

We'll probably end up playing them anyway in the 3rd place playoff.

Fairly easy in the end. Now FIFA's favourite team and marketing figure Messi and Argentina. I suspect at least a Red card in game if England get early goal or any goal. France expected to win as will Argentina.

Ronaldo is heads above Messi he's a goal machine. MBappe is better in EA26 than real life.

Really? I’ve enjoyed watching them, quick one two touch play some of the turns into space have been excellent.

I just find in tournament football their style is so dominant and 1 sided it's boring. In the PL at least teams are built to play against that kind of Pep-ball now so it's gone out of fashion a bit, but it's hard to build a counter to it with a national team. France didn't press or defend well at all though from what I saw before I volunteered to do the bins instead of watch Spain slowly throttle the life out of the game.

I don't think he's anywhere near their level but Messi in particular disappeared for many tournaments for Argentina up till 2022.

Well done to Spain. They ran the midfield, got their penalty, and France struggled to put anything together. Spain's two full backs were versatile, squeezing anything left out of a French attack, that looked to have given up a bit as the end approached, with some wayward efforts on goal. Dembele looked to struggle again, but he wasn't the only one, when their quick through balls were being closed down.

Should England get through, at least they'll be used to being a bit disjointed but adapting, which will stand them in better stead than France.

Take your point but he won the Golden Ball in 2014 which is the best player of the tournament

0 goals and assists in knockout football for them before this tournament started. Yes I am saying that.

What has he done? Got Rooney sent off? Wow.

Love for England to win it in a spawny way like Greece won the Euros all those years ago.

Not sure if I'll be able to watch it tomorrow.

We've already had a far better run than that Greek run!
