In which case they're fucking idiots, because they didn't expect a severe sanction from the EFL either.

First rule in business (and life in general) - never, ever make the same stupid mistake twice.

How can that be the first rule? Surely "Do not make stupid mistakes" would proceed this?

😉

He admitted in his statement to the commission that he authorised the missions. And his claim that he didn't know it was against the rules is heavily contradicted by the statements from the analysts.

Forget Bielsa. The benchmark is what happened with the Canadian women's team coaches.

Fair points, but I'm going to stick with my hunch for now... i.e. The FA won't ban him and he'll stay...I'm getting desperate for a Saintsweb "told you so" medal... ;)

Tonda is safe., This goes higher.

Great News, thanks.

I can order my new season touchline coat safe in that knowledge.

This is my fear now. We need clarity on who is going to be the manager first and foremost. I have this lingering fear that he will get banned late into the summer and we end up having to put Lallana in charge. I’d say there is no chance the Club could get blindsided by that but their response to this whole saga has been insanely shortsighted.

I can only imagine the club have employed these so called top lawyers, to stop Eckert being banned

Im very confused why you’d appoint Clifford Chance and then put out a statement like that without running it past them, which they clearly haven’t.

Yes. There’s nothing we didn’t already know. He bent the rules and maybe told a fib or two. He’s no Nigel Adkins, is he?

It reads to me exactly like something that has been run through lawyers.

I worked there for 15 years and if anyone at CC has signed that off then standards have gone downhill hard 😅

It’ll run well into next season too if we aren’t careful. How the fuck can we plan for anything with this over our heads and without a clue who our manager will be?

We’re useless most years without something like this to contend with, next season could be utterly chaotic at this rate.

I bow to your superior knowledge but I'd be rather surprised if this wasn't signed off by someone legal in some way. We don't know to what extent CC are involved with things.

Probably signed off by one of those firms who always bug you asking if you've been involved in an accident in the past 5 years.

I would be a little surprised if this has been written by our head of comms, im not sure hes got the minerals, although he should.

I thought some notes have been given to a third party and this is what was put out between the two.

Couldn’t agree more. He is an utter wanker who shouldn’t be anywhere near the pay roll still.

The FA will rightly ban him, and we will be looking for a manager about 6 weeks before the start of the season.

Hillarious people think he should be kept on.

We got caught, doesn't matter how, we did it. The punishment far outweighed the crime though. But I would rather see him gone in all honesty. He is one of a number of people that aren't fit to represent this club anymore.

What is the uproar about in this article? Is it because the analysts have said they felt pressured and that couldn’t say no? I cant see anything else that 1. we didn’t already know, and 2. that makes him such a wanker. If it is that the oiks were expected to do what the boss tells them, that that is exactly how it should be. They are exonerated because they are minions and the boss takes the fall. He has now we move on with Tonda at the helm. I just don’t see the issue.

My issue is it’s very poor form and a ridiculous risk to take for such a stupid gain, hence he is a wanker.

The other issue here is it’s plainly obvious he will be getting banned, the language in that article will be deemed very negatively by the FA. Yet we have inept owners in charge blindly hoping he will remain our manager, when he clearly won’t be able to. This will put us miles behind where we need to be in terms of preparing for next season.

I agree it was stupid. We were on a 20+ unbeaten run.. who’s to say it wasn’t worth the gain over games we haven’t admitted to?  I don’t think he’s a wanker at all. I’m happy to have someone at the helm that will do anything within his power to get us the results we need. It’s been nice having a manager with teeth and I don’t want to see him hounded out to be replaced by a another lapdog who rolls over to have his belly tickled by Wankersen and his wanky back 5.

I’m Team Tonda! COYS!

How can it be worth the gain when we got kicked out of the play off final? We didn't need to spy on teams, we should have been confident enough in our own abilities to beat these teams. And this wasn't in his power to do, he cheated and broke the rules.

did that report not say in a meeting on the Monday (before bor) that TE requested detail on whether HH was playing? he also wasnt impressed that the analyst didnt watch the training on wednesday which is outside the 72 hour period as training in the morning. Sounds like the analyst dept fucked up and there is no clear evidence that TE requested spying on that thursday.

All the intern statements were woolly like  "i didnt really have the option to say no" but in the next breath refused to spy on ipswich which didnt lead to his sacking but continued to do what was asked of him at boro.

sounds like the witnesses were covering their own arses a little with their statements. I think saints will be using this stuff to try and protect TE from being banned, essentially asking for information and relying on the analyst dept to know what & how they can get it within regulations.

We got caught. There is a possibility that we wouldn’t have been anywhere near the play-offs if it wasn’t for Tonda’s devious antics. Everyone’s at it, we were just daft enough to underestimate Boro’s chief chimp and got exposed. Otherwise no-one would be any wiser and we’d possibly be back in the Prem.

If everyone is at it, am sure more teams would have got caught out way before we did.

I am very much in the ‘keep him’ camp now.

Mostly because I really enjoy the tears of those who would hate it.

Imagine if we won the league 😂

One thing is certain in my mind. If the club were going to sack him they would have done so by now. They are in possession of all of the facts. The only way he will not be our manager next season is if the FA ban him. Bring it on.

I’m seeing it as everyone was at it but no-one cared or took any notice. Gibson exploited his inside knowledge that we would show up to ensure a route to the final. We should have been much cleverer but I don’t think we thought we needed to be. Our mistake.

Ok. We are going to have to agree to disagree. Neither of us have any proof either way.

Because they will not want to take any action until the result of any legal action we may take against the EFL, which it seems is increasingly likely.

Who knows. Why would we spy on our opposition in such a ridiculous manor.

It might get drawn out, legally, by us for example.

Imagine how many staff who have been sacked, or have grievances with clubs since the Leeds story. Yet not one has come forward and sold their story to the press, not one has contacted us or the EFL to drop the sides they have a grievance with in it. I’ve not read one report of EFL sides suspecting anyone other than us spying, and we’ve not read one report of Premier league clubs spying on other clubs. Since the Leeds story, there was nothing, not even an hint of it, until we got caught. Yet “everyone is at it”.
