The9 Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 (edited) Hang on, no-one's said "sauce" yet - and shouldn't the thread be renamed "This is the place to slate Marc Jackson?" I mean if it makes you all feel better, and all... it's not like Fry's given him any credibility for weeks anyway. Edited 30 June, 2009 by The9 Ok, someone said "saws" as I was posting it... charliemiller Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 For Clarity The Middle eastern Group brought by Jackson have withdrawn because the timescales and pressure to complete caused by the clubs situation mean that they do not have time to complete in the manner they would wish . This has been further complicated by the sale of assets. They took the view it was better to withdraw at this point for the good of the club to leave the way open for the remaining swiss bid. saintjay77 Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 As laughable as his ideas and plans may have been, the guy did at least try to put something together in an attempt to buy the club. How much did we do? he certainly got allot further than many would have expected him too and it doesnt look like he wasted much of the administrators time either. he came, outlined his plans, must have proved funds to get as far as he did, didnt look like the best option so sat back while Pinnacle co(ked about with things for weeks and he gets a right slating on here by a load of cyber warriors. I for 1 am gutted we will never see the monorail and Monkey island and I think you lot will in time come to realise what a visionary the man was! Many a true word spoken in jest. I think that if Jackson has formally pulled out it means that the battle has been lost. Whether that means that someone has "won" the bid or that nobody will remains to be seen but I don't think Jackson would formally withdraw without there having been some sort of result. Like Peter Reid miraculously fell back in love with the Thailand job this morning probably as a result of having been told he didn't stand a chance of getting the Saints job (as Jackson was out or the bidding). Well there are two realities aren't there. The reality that I think we all "knew" that MJ would not buy the club, and the reality that despite this he was in discussions with Fry and, I would bet, he had also sounded out Peter Reid too. Despite what Reid said publicly. I find it too coincidental that both MJ and PR made announcements today.

He certainly did get a lot further than many would have expected him to, and if we somehow survive all this questions should be asked about that. I wasnt trying to have a dig at anyone. I was talking tongue in cheek but in responce, you bought your season ticket to watch the saints, not to help the club I can only imagine that he got as far as he did based on evidence showing that he could have gone all the way. I guess his plans or efforts were never going to be as good as most others but if he was the last chance then his offer must have been in the ball park of what was wanted by the administrators? IMO it would have been the future commitment and funding that would have been below anything the others have bid. But look at the Pinnacle bid, they were supposed to be the best option! MJ bid = Not allot offered for now and for future but for the sake of the argument lets say it was guarenteed. Pinnacle bid = more offered for now and for future but when it comes to it the funds arnt really there so we are a month further down the line and still no pot to P in. I just think that while MJ's bid would have been no good for us he may have actually been offering a realistic bid with real money. I doubt it personally as his bornmouth bid fell through when it was time to show the readies but even so its still more than most others have done. NickG Posted 30 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 30 June, 2009 perhaps my thread title was a bit childish and not needed, but it is a tense time and he said he had taken over cherries - completed - only for it to be denied say he had backer with money - only for them to disappear say he had Reid lined up - for Reid to say he had never heard of it.
