Surely this is only a "crucial money-spinner" if you're a rose-tinted Pompey maths specialist. I make that about £2.50 a week minus expenses and whatever buttons and soiled condoms they manage to collect.

I guess it depends on how long they can keep the top prize 'rolling over'

Ignoring the 'money can't buy' prizes for the moment, there's £1350 a week in prizes plus about £230 a week to pay into the yearly draw. Gives a payout of £1600 a week against an income of £1300. Sounds like Pimpey maths again.

Far to many people on the main board getting un necessary. Llalana and shaw will go but there is big money there. Biggest indicator will be the calibre of manager they employ which might give an indication of the chairwomans intention

Its just nice that for once in the close season we are not the ones being pasted. I am enjoying the peace and quiet and laughing at brighton who are deluded beyond belief

don't worry I'm told the Fareham Parish magazine are trying to get a decent story to publish, but you are not newsworthy enough even for them

LOL, that is quite cute really, fair play. Saints Foundation proceeds are invested in local community projects I believe, rather than academy wages et al.

This line made me chuckle

There will also be an annual jackpot draw where one of 10 finalists can win a tax-free £12,000.

Tax? Never heard of him.

A "Share Prospectus" so are these actual shares in a company or still voluntary donations with no value.

Well in their own words from the prospectus:-

Community shares cannot be traded and they cannot go up in value but may go down if the Club

incurs sustained losses.

That doesn't sound like real shares as I understand them.

They're shares in a company, just not in Pompey.

You get a share in the Pompey Supporter's Trust, who promptly make a voluntary donation to the club with your never-to-be-seen-again cash.

Can't be traded?

Don't have any real value?

The money goes to the Trust not the club?

What a fricking bombshell that is! :o

It's as if these so called 'shares' are in fact just donations sold to simpletons via emotional blackmail, smoke, mirrors, and smallprint that is glossed-over in the PDT's chosen media partner's regular sales bulletin begging letters, and the donations are being used to prop up an unsustainable business model that refuses to reduce wages and has delusions of grandeur based on some success just after D-Day...

I wish someone had said before.

I'm now just starting to wonder if this is 'real fan ownership' after all. :scared:

Matt Smith ‏@Matt_Smith78

So #ExeterCity loan more money from the PFA to help cash flow! Pretty sure when #Pompey loaned money to secure our survival we were "Cheats"

Ian King ‏@naggerpagger

@Matt_Smith78 As PFA loans have to be paid back no one would have complained. Not repaying debts that's a different matter.

Matt Smith ‏@Matt_Smith78

@naggerpagger we borrowed money to buy the club, paid pack well ahead of time. Our cash flow as a fan owned club is well above expectations

Ian King ‏@naggerpagger

@Matt_Smith78 I stand corrected then. I didn't realise all creditors of Portsmouth FC had been paid back and no debts had gone unpaid.

Matt Smith ‏@Matt_Smith78

@naggerpagger debts to creditors left by the previous owners are being paid and ahead of time.

Does this include the taxman? (Rhetorical question)

Who could have seen this one happening....

FORMER Crawley Town goalkeeper Paul Jones is close to signing for League Two side Portsmouth, according to Sky Sports.

The 27-year-old played every minute of every game last season for Crawley but was released at the end of the season when his contract ran out.

It is thought his substantial wages stopped cost-cutting Crawley offering him another deal.

In fairness Crawley are paying salaries that are equivalent to lower end League 2, have average crowds of less than 4,000 and have some of the lowest entry prices in league 1

In other news, mighty Gibraltar picked up their first ever win on the international stage beating Malta 1-0 this evening. No doubt they'll thank pompey for the lesson in football that they received a couple of years back, oh and the squirrel recipes!

it seems like a revision of the Glazers leveraged debt model, revised on a much smaller, pikier scale.

The fans are simply subsidising the PDT investors, whose real shareholdings in PFC can increase, if they can continue to convince the fans to pay for emergency maintenence at fatpipes, laying a new pitch at ROKO etc by way of more donations, they get to see an increase in PFC business/asset value, which they can balance out by loading more loans onto the club to support the unsustainable wage bill and keeping there majority control!

Agent Connolly's loan deal with Oxford is up, and I think he still has a year left on his contract, so I guess he's on his way back to the septic isle. That'll confuse the hero-villain swingometer.

Oh yes, the season ends after the playoff final I believe so Agent Connolly, or as I like to think of him, Angel Connolly, will be having a nice summer in the treatment room courtesy of pompey :mcinnes:

Why are you so sure we have an unsustainable wage bill? FFP rules are strict in league 2 - 55% of turnover and monitored regularly by the FL. We also have to report our finances to the FL regularly due to all the poor ownership from before.

If you look back through the thread archives you'll find one of your cousins saying exactly the same thing before your last little dabble with insolvency (or maybe the one before that) - "It's why Lampitt has been parachuted onto us, to keep an eye on our finances".

Lolz.

I may be wrong but the parachute payments, which you no longer get, have been included in your turnover figures, making you wage bull look small by comparison. Without the PPs the wage bill is a large part of your turnover..

So automatically you are assuming then we have not budgeted going forward for the PP's not being included in turnover? Understandable due to the past recent history but I'll be very surprised if we go down that road again so soon after the last few shambles. The accounts will be interesting and should tell the story.

I've not been keeping up to date with movements in and out but how many players from last season's squad have been release/moved on? And don't forget that you have to start paying Connolly again as well.

If you can't move the payers on they'll be on the same wage as before and to attract new/better player's you're going to have to pay a decent wage. Given that the aim is promotion WASP is giving it 75% that it'll be **** or bust again....

At times the outrage on here feels a little strained to me, but this...

http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/news/article/share-opportunity-for-young-fans-1618451.aspx

I genuinely find this shocking

I like the way that they avoid mentioning any dates for when this months worth of free work will happen. It's almost as if they assume all 16-17 year olds within the septic isle will have no job and no further education to attend!!!

"As you can imagine, places are limited for this unique opportunity and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

If you are interested, then you are more than welcome to bring friends along to the programme too."

So, places are limited but invite your friends?

£35 'contribution' I assume is to cover the climbing of the walls in Dorset.

Otherwise it seems they are getting a load of kids together to brainwash them, teach them the hard sale/begging tactics, then send them out across portsea to aggressively seek more donations into the black hole.

first thing I thought when reading it as well lol. Climbing walls in Dorset? I thought the prison there was a ship off Portland, there again we could arrange a few haver sacks loaded with concrete for them to to take a dip in
