we can all be very sensible and help them choose their kit for next season

Home kit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MTHC7N2

Away kit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3HJBLSQ

Third kit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3HJBLSQ

none are particularly offensive unfortunately ( well, they are all incredibly offensive to me, but not to a neutral is what i mean)

It says "est 1898" on the kits. Surely that should say "est 2012" ?

Trouble is in England fan ownership is only ever mooted as the last chance to stave off bankruptcy when the club is down to its last quid (or minus £120,000,000 quid in some cases). If they had been run as mutual from the start, like Barca, the situation would be totally different. I don't think you need a billionaire to get promoted and do well, its just a lot easier and quicker that way.

Newport's current fan-owned status is indeed a response to stave off bankruptcy, but unlike some they had the sense to do it before their financial situation got unmanageable.

However their default position since being re-formed after bankrupcy in 1989 is being owned by fans who are local businessmen, and the community share fundraising they've just done has come about because the local bloke with the most money who helped get them into the League lost interest and left them with a load of contract and transfer-based debts. The fans mobilised and in 2 months the debts were covered and the club has already been able to get a new manager and move up the league out of the bottom 4.

The contrast with Portsmouth couldn't be greater, it took them 2 relegations and 2 admins even to consider a fan takeover.

I always though you didn't wear after Armistice Day but only leading up.

That would be what we call "an administrative oversight" then. i.e. no-one there bothered to think about it until they realised it was too late. No doubt they'll spin it as some crap about "having the widest audience for it" or something, but fundamentally, they forgot.

Surely Ian Holloway should be banded for Sky Sports as he dares criticise the magnificatist bestist fans in the world for booing.........how dare he do it on national TV.

He was trying to claim that it wasn't a boo-worthy performance at the same time, so not sure I agree with him. The whole thing was dire.

Things that amused me from not-really-watching that (I walked in from being out just before half time and it was still on in the lounge after I'd washed up, etc):

1) Danny Higginbotham on commentary and David Prutton in the studio, not a Skate representative anywhere.

2) They were awful

3) Booing

Also of note, apparently they sang "stand up if you hate ISIS" which falls somewhere between "impressive" and "moronic and deluded" depending on how you feel about the sort of people you'd expect to be singing it and why they were singing it. Though I couldn't actually hear it properly on tv at the time, I could tell they weren't singing "the Scum" for once and couldn't work out what they were saying.

Being highly cynical about this, I assume "immigrants" or "refugees" didn't scan, so instead they happened upon the nearest thing to a "right answer" they could get in that situation.

Third kit and away kit links are the same above, Hatch...

Nice choice of socks between each of the three options there. Also sticking with Sondico's p155-poor parks quality kit for another year. :D

According to Sports Direct who appear to own them and sell their tat, 'Sondico is a specialist football equipment brand with a rich heritage in gloves, balls and shin pads.'

http://www.sportsdirectplc.com/our-brands/sports-and-leisure/sondico.aspx

Furthermore, 'Sondico is the official kit sponsor of several teams within the English football league, including Yeovil Town, MK Dons, Port Vale and Gillingham.'

Strangely the bestest are not mentioned, perhaps for fear of devaluing the brand. They can only aspire to be mentioned in the same glorious company as rock-bottom Yeovil :mcinnes:

Stay classy, skates

It's one for The9 really but I'm sure MKDons and Port Vale play in Errea shirts not Sondico.

This is true, they wore Sondico last season though (as did the Skates). Gillingham are wearing own brand kit this season. Basically Sondico (Sports Direct)'s website is conveniently about 6 months out of date.

Why on earth do Portsmouth need a third kit? For all their TV games?

Because someone will buy it, and because they choose to have a blue home kit and a white away kit, which is one of the most popular two-colour combinations in the lower leagues so both those kits will clash with someone fairly often.

Meanwhile, Saints have a 2 kit combination that are only both going to clash with the opposition in some convoluted scenarios:

eg If we play away to a team in a cup who have dark shorts, or red or green socks, or away to a team playing in both red and green (there are none in England).

The Prem is fairly laissez-faire with shorts clashes but will want to ensure the socks don't clash, whilst League Cup and FA Cup rules insist on short and sock changes in the event of clashes - our black home, navy away short is therefore an issue in away cup games. Home shorts or socks with the away shirt would look awful so fairly sure we'd have alternate green shorts and navy socks sitting around on the off-chance there's a cup colour clash.

I can't think of a Prem side that has red socks but would also clash with the green kit so we're covered in all League instances by just wearing the away kit.

Cook said: ‘When you are at club like Portsmouth, if you don’t fear for your place in the squad, there is something wrong.

‘Lads have a habit down here of becoming too comfortable.

‘It’s a lovely part of the country, Gunwharf has nice restaurants and life is good.

‘If we don’t have success, you won’t be eating in Gunwharf – you will be eating somewhere else.

‘People must prove they are worth their place in the team.

‘So it’s important I shuffle the pack.

‘You’ve got to remember it’s an honour to play for this club.

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/ex-pompey-administrator-trevor-birch-joins-struggling-bolton-1-7072831

Birch was a key figure in helping the Blues achieve community ownership during an April 2013 High Court victory.

As joint-administrator for BDO, formerly known as PKF, he won respect at the Pompey over his handling of the complex situation.

Chairman Iain McInnes once joked a statue should be erected at Fratton Park to mark his contribution.

I wonder if the creditors thought the same...?

Think before you post, don't be an utter fool.

It's because it's the special kit for when all those nameless minnows play their Cup Final at Fortress Fratton. Where the occasion (and best atmosphere in world football) is too big and gets to the referee.

"The visitors found themselves trailing after two wind-assisted goals left them 2-0 down after only eight minutes against Bristol Rovers."

Those plucky youngsters even had to battle the weather. Everything is against them. Perhaps they should bleat to the Minister for Portsmouth who will make sure all future games are played on calm nights.

Even with an almost new team this season the pompey players are too frightened to perform in the "Cauldron of Passion"

:mcinnes:

Not to mention that they only lost to Championship Reading in their first 6 home games of the season, with the same group of players who've only beaten a non-League side at home in the 6 home games since. Somewhat suggests the "not being able to win at home" issue isn't related to either the location or the people there - though I suppose you could make a case that after getting booed off in only their second home defeat of the season the players might not be as keen to impress as they were.

Link isn't currently working, but on the bright side I got to see their web provider's "amusing" message:

Oh, and their half season-tickets are on sale for £185: http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/news/article/pompey-half-season-tickets-are-on-sale-now-2806467.aspx

"You will also guarantee your place for Fratton clashes with Oxford, Leyton Orient, Bristol Rovers, Cambridge, Newport, Notts County, Carlisle, Plymouth, Wycombe and Northampton."

Because hell, you wouldn't want to risk getting locked out of those 11 matches with only 5000 empty seats every match.

I may be going to one of them of course... :D

'Cauldron of passion'

That's a new one.

Brings to mind TWCTB providing to the halftime entertainment by interfering with his sistermum in the centre circle, roared on by at least three of the mostest passionatest evar, at least of whom is banging on a drum with absolutely no rythmn.
