Saintjersey Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Excellent news, will provide good competiton with Mills and hopefully means that Molyneux will now be out of the door.

stthrobber Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Should be on the OS shortly. Great signing IMO, i've rated him highly for a while now. Must admit I've never heard of him, but concensus is that he's a good signing, so happy with that.
Clifford Nelson Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Excellent news. That will stretch both Mills (plenty of talent, needs experience and strength) and Molineux (can't say whether I think he can make it or not).

eelpie Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Excellent news. That will stretch both Mills (plenty of talent, needs experience and strength) and Molineux (can't say whether I think he can make it or not). Molyneux is green and makes mistakes. If AP can turn him into a L1 standard footballer AP could do it with it he rest of the team. I suspect he will be moved on.

So if you see some nutter getting carted off my the stewards, that would be me.
Give it to Ron Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Great signing for us - just what we need and AP really seems to have sussed the squad pretty quickly. Next! To be fair mate it would only take about 20 minutes! No pace, no width, lack of height at the back., no creative midfield....

thegaffer Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Just need to find another Michael Svensson. Quick, strong in the air, great tackler, and one of the best centre backs ever to have worn the red and White.
scott_saints Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Bit worrying that apparently Brighton had him on trial last week, so it seems they didn't want him...
aintforever Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Well done, it's the sort of player we should have got a year ago, finally a signing that makes sense. It's like a breath of fresh air having a manager buying players we need instead of a chairman accumulating a bunch of young assets just in case they might increase in value. Arizona Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 I've added a confirmed squad list to the HCDAJFU sticky. Make what you will off it, but there's 23 players, including DH. The list also includes 4 'keepers, Molyneux, Pulis and John (who is still out of contract) so still very thin on the ground IMO.
allsaintsnocurves Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 well I don't know much about him but at 6 foot we certainly can do with some bigger boys at the back in this division. I suspect that Lee M will be considered too small and shipped out. If we get a big right back in then you will know the thinking behind AP! I think a big defender who can play across the back four would be a good addition and a right back. I see L James being used more in midfield which is his proper position. I'd like to see some players leaving as well to get the squad size down...this creates more of a team spirit as well!
Give it to Ron Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Bit worrying that apparently Brighton had him on trial last week, so it seems they didn't want him... How do you know they didnt want him? Maybe he decided we were the better option? Seems to me its not just the players that need to change that losing attitude. Kingsbridge Saint Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Good signing on the face of it. Right age, 6 footer, experienced. Keep that revolving door spinning like a top.
rolosfc Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Very good signing, lower league experience and the right age. Hopefully that means that Pardew witnessed the awful display by Molyneux on Sat and he'll be making a swift exit!

Chez Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 was a decent prospect at Brighton, but having made his move to Leeds he was a failure there and they shipped him out. He moved to Ipswich and he didn't fair much better and was loaned out a few tiems before being reelased. I don't remember him in the games against us but his record over the last few years is patchy at best. I'm glad we have signed a 6 footer though and hopefully League 1 is his level (surprised Southend did not try to sign him when he was released by Ipswich) but a little unsure. Obviously what has gone before doesn't matter and its all about what he can offer us. Hopefully he will prove to be a solid defender offering the height we need. eelpie Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 I reckon we should not have too large a squad again. Just two good'uns for each position, plus one or two quality versatile utility players. So Molyneux should go.

Glasgow_Saint Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Should be on the OS shortly. Great signing IMO, i've rated him highly for a while now. If the guy is that good, why dont Ipswich want him? + why doesnt anyone else? He's been available for a few weeks now and no trial or speculation linking him with other clubs? I dont know anything about him, mate who supports Ipswich says he's "Inconsistent"
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Don't get me wrong I'm glad to see that we are signing players, but I thought we had plenty of cover at L/B and L/M? Are our existing options (Molyneux, Mills etc.) really that bad? Surely it's Centre Backs that we need? A strong midfielder and a proven goalscorer would also be good additions, but I'm sure that will happen.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Ipswich supporting friend has just sent me a text to say that when he's interested he's a good player. When he can't be arsed (which is quite often by all accounts) he is shocking! Sounds like what we've already got :\
Katalinic Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Bit worrying that apparently Brighton had him on trial last week, so it seems they didn't want him... I think it was more a case of he was training with them (one of his former clubs) to keep fit until he got an offer. Happens quite a bit.
