Smirking_Saint Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 I said that i thought Euell could do a job this year, but with the purchase of Lambert, i know who i am happier with, they wouldn't have worked together so, there we go. Oh how we could do with an ormerod now mind you

Saint Samuel Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 I thought Euell was great in the second half of last season, all of a sudden he started playing with passion and commitment, arguably our best outfield performer last season. Shame we couldn't hold onto him after going into administration, wonder how much he is on at Blackpool.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 He had a right old moan in 42 about saints. Neilza Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 Well I don't know how many games you've seen him play this year but a cardiff supporting mate saw him when Blackpool played Cardiff ad he said Euell was the worst player on the pitch. I prefer to judge based on what I've seen rather than the view of the press, a friend, a friend of a friend etc; Only seen snippets of Blackpool/Euell so can't judge him there but I can say I thought he was a decent player for us, just my opinion but one I voiced a number of times on here TBH. Now he's at Blackpool good luck to him I say.

Arizona Posted 17 September, 2009 Share Posted 17 September, 2009 I mean this in the nicest possible way, but Euell is a load of donkey gash. He was a night out in Ipswich away from not scoring throughout the whole of last season and his build up play didn't exactly give me a boner. If he scored against Newcastle then good for him, but didn't a couple of part time welders score for Havant against Liverpool a couple of years ago. Hardly proving us wrong is it. Rebel Posted 17 September, 2009 Share Posted 17 September, 2009 we couldn't really afford his wages when we signed him on a free - so we definately couldn't afford him or his wages before the takeover despite the occassional flash of talent he was never really that good for us - and was overpaid on the basis of what he gave us on the pitch week in week out and I dont think he really wanted to play for SFC or in League 1 - he was only ever here for the money much like Stern John really! over the season I can't see him being a great success at Blackpool - but for their sake lets hope he scores a few goals for them I wish we'd given younger players like Ranger, Baseya, Best, Blackstock and McGoldrick more of a chance instead of spending money we didn't have on players like Stern John and Jason Euell apart from all that its time to move on - and overall we are better off without him

If you have (bought / acquired ) someone, you have to play him, and the law of averages says that they will score SOMETIME during the season, but I don't expect a goal rush from Blackpool either. Newcastle are a better side than most - just a bad day at the office.
BotleySaint Posted 17 September, 2009 Share Posted 17 September, 2009 I thought Euell wanted to leave? Last year he wasted so many chances... every now and then one is bound to fly in by law of averages.

Last year he wasted so many chances... every now and then one is bound to fly in by law of averages. It's two things: 1) players depreciate in ability when playing for Saints 2) a Saints shirt represents bad luck ie - he was never going to score many goals for us... No When he was at Saints there were plenty who rated Euell and plenty who didn't. Likewise when he left some wish he'd stayed and some were glad to see the back of him. I doubt there is any one person who slated Euell and now wishes we'd kept him.
Super_Uwe Posted 17 September, 2009 Share Posted 17 September, 2009 I don't think he ever covered himself in glory at Saints, but again part of that IMHO was down to him playing almost as a holding midfielder when he first joined. He made his name as a striker and then played a bit deeper when at Charlton. But somehow we ended up plonking him in the middle of the park trying to get him to sit in there. God knows why. But anyway, by that stage the damage had been done as his performances were pretty cack. Again IMHO if you start off crap you need to do something pretty amazing to change people's views. Good luck to him though; it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Olly manages to get things going at Blackpool.

Jason Euell had lost any pretension to centre forward status long before he arrived at SFC , the lack of any real pace or reliable finishing ability generally being considered a handicap in a striker . An OK (in the main) but massively overpaid centre midfielder sums him up nicely . Edited 18 September, 2009 by CHAPEL END CHARLIE
