Saints 2 - 0 Yeovil Post Match Reaction

Much needed win!!! Hopefully this will give us the confidence to push on and win more games, consistantly.

We musn't play next week thinking - "well we won last week, so we can chill out for a few games now since the pressure is off"

None of that. We need to win consistantly, start getting up this league, uniting the fan base and enjoying supporting SFC again. C'mon!!!

"Couldn't score in open play"

No pleasing some people.

Happy to get off the mark, notice how much more solid our defence is?

We'll eek out alot of 1-0's and 2-1's this season.

Our next few fixtures are very winnable.

We shouldn't fear anyone given our performance away at Charlton too. Again we're looking a tough proposition to beat which is the first thing we need to do and then build on attacking. Waigo sounded like he gave us a bit of spark needed when he came on.

Looks like my pre match routine is now going to have to include a bottle of Moet and Full English breakfast for lunch :D

I'll have to see if Saints will sponsor this new routine ;)

Didn't seem to play particularly well but as we have been saying for weeks, don't care how the first win comes just so long as it does.

Hope that sets it up nicely for the epic trek up to Carlisle, hopr the players give a performance and get the result that the loyal fans who are making the trip deserve.

Only 16 points from the playoffs now :p

Only team in the bottom 8 to get any points.

Glad to have picked up 3 points, but the most important thing is to keep the momentum up. We can't go to Carlisle on tuesday and expect to beat them like people on here did today with Yeovil. Hopefully the win will inspire confidence amongst the players and we can build on what we've achieved today.

From the sounds of it, Papa gave the game a little spark when he came on. Perhaps he could start and come off at half time if he's not fit enough to carry on against Carlisle, an early goal could be crucial and he certainly seems like he's an active player. Kept the linesman busy anyway! :D

it's next Saturday by the way. Can't wait until this game now as me and the lad are going as it's relatively local to me. COYR

could'nt score in open play against Yeovil...**** poor

Unbelievable....

Do you not realise that we are in League 1 beacause over the last 5/6 years we have been a poor team. It is about time we don't just expect to beat teams because we are a 'big' club. i'd take a 1-0 win with a throw in being dropped by their keeper into the net.

Well, bugger me,we get a result against Yeovil and all is good.

Great we got 3 points..at long last.

I'm chuffed we got the result but chuffing heck we won by getting 2 penalties, besides that we actually created very few goal scoring oppotunities.

Once again we struggled to break a side down,we had no width and rarely tested their keeper.

Apparently the season started today, according to some, well excuse me if i don't get too excited.

You know what when the final whistle went I knew someone would be quick to point that out..........

A win is a win is a win is win is a win is a win is a win is a win :-) get the idea???

Anyway we are clearly the strongest team in this divison as we are holding up the rest :-) Looking forward to us being the weakest !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If only Liebherr had been able to take over a few weeks earlier then the first win may have not taken so long to come eh?

I don't know the answer to that one I'm afraid. Football is a queer old thing, nothing is really ever certain. I guess by rights you could argue that Man Utd should have won in '76. But every team is capable of beating another on 'their' day. Look at Havant & Waterlooville in the cup a few years back. Or even dare I say P'mouth, today making history by being the only Premiership team to have lost its opening 6 games......... nothing is ever really cetain is it, outside the "top 4" in the premiership that is. But VERY best of luck to Saints, I trully hope this is the confidence booster they need to push on and build on. Tony

We were good today, not exceptional but all the players did what they needed to do.

Yeovil came here and gave their complete all, that's probably as well as they've played all season - but we were resilient and solid enough to push them back.

I thought the CB Pairing was excellent, Jaidi had a top home debut and i don't remember him missing a single header, he's very assured and composed in tricky positions and he got us playing from the back on a few occasions.

Hammond in midfield was excellent too i felt, box to box, tackling and spraying the ball about - he was everywhere.

Lambo did well - led the line expertly and i felt he worked quite well with Saga, who i must add gave 110% today - although he's lacking a bit of sharpness it must be said.

Papa did ok - still a little rusty but he injected some pace down the team and could have scored with his 2nd touch! (ok, it was straight at the keeper - but he fashioned it well) He'll get better with games.

Overall, 2-0 - easy and we have a win. I'd have taken a win with a goal in the 93rd min off a cows backside tbf, it didn't matter how we did it - just that we did. Onwards and upwards...

Come on own up, your not really how your coming over..... its just an act you do for attention.

Bloody good result, winning and not playing well.. good sign... no goal against, without the minus 10 would be mid table.. squad is unrecognisable from 6 weeks ago.

Like any one but the few negative morons that come on here it was obvious things will take time but in the last 6 weeks i have felt for the first time in years that we are in competent hands and moving forward.

Doesnt mean i think we will be promoted this season [but i can hope] and even if we lose next week [but hopefully not] i will still feel the same.

If that makes me a happy clappy so be it, id rather be that than one of the few dull idiots that can only pick out whats wrong.

Looking forward to one of the likely suspects insults. [come on you know who you are]

Well of course it isn't certain but it would have probably been more likely.

Our defence won absolutely everything today. Ok, so Yeovil don't exactly have the fiercest foreward line, but in previous seasons their big lad up front would have won all his headers, but today he won nothing. Jaidi and Trotman were so dominant, along with Harding and Thomas who won a lot on the floor. We were never threatened really.

Morgan looked really up for it, as did Hammond. We still played it high too often, bypassing the midfield but when the ball did go through our midfield we were doing ok. We still need a natural winger, James and Lallana aren't wingers, but when Mills came on he looked good.

Pretty good win, nothing special but that doesn't matter. We desperately needed a win and we got one!

Oh and Lallana's corners are still embarrassing.

Congratulations. I am very pleased to see Saints record their first win, and I sincerely hope it will be the first of many to come. Regards. Tony

Why do you sign your name? We know who you are.

A fraud. How anyone believed you is beyond me. Quite why you had your website on display with your mobile phone number on is quite funny in itself.

Time for you to jog on..

Chris.

Well i was there and appreciated what i saw from the lads.

The first win was never going to be pretty, it just needed to be job done and we did it.

we were never going to thrash them today, the confidence isn't there for that (yet).
