itchen_dan Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 http://www.brentford.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=207076 It's Dickson's tribunal today. How much do you think we should pay for him? He looked very good on Saturday and I would say around 350k-400k? We were originally only going to give 100k but Brentford want 500k minimum. stevegrant Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 I reckon it'll end up at about £300k up front, another £100k if we get promoted, another £100k if he plays 100 games and then a 20% sell-on clause.
Junior Mullet Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 How good would it be if the tribunal decide that we have to give them Poolis in part-exchange. If Carling did football tribunals.......

benjii Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 It's compensation for the effort put into his development. The idea of including add-on clauses in that is completely illogical IMO. I sincerely hope there are no add-on clauses.

saint_stevo Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 Dickson has quickly settled into life at Southampton, playing in most of the team's pre season fixtures, and after an energetic performance against Reading at the weekend he looks to have done enough to secure the left back slot ahead of the start of the new campaign on Saturday. Sure Harding is thrilled

Sure Harding is thrilled Rather interesting considering his best performance I've seen him put in for us has been in midfield. I've been fairly disappointed with how he's done in the three games I've seen him play at left-back, to be honest.

Saint_clark Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 Thinking about it, it's possible Pardew was waiting to see how much Dickson was gonna cost before deciding who he was gonna sign in midfield/up front.
merrimd Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 Hopefully his poorer performances in the earlier games was down to the problems he had settling in - as per AP's interview on saturday. Have to say though I left St Marys a little happier knowing AL's replacement had such a good game. Fantastic delivery into the box, bet Ricky was licking his lips. stevegrant Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 The full deal, as confirmed by the Brentford OS - http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/page/LatestNews/0,,10421~2108883,00.html £125k up front. Further £25k payments upon the following milestones being achieved: 10 first-team appearances 20 first-team appearances 30 first-team appearances 40 first-team appearances Saints winning promotion There is also a 20% sell-on clause. Saint Bones Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 For the locals - how has Harding Been in the friendlies. ? Was one of our more solid performers from last years "match reports and online comments " Which, bar the radio coverage is about all I can base my opinion on (on a totally off note... finally get to see Fowler play for my local club:)
david in sweden Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 Nice one. Would appear Saints were justified in 'disputing' Brentfords c.£500k valuation. Of course Brentford wanted a lot of compensation..look who they were " selling him" to ...one of the richest clubs in the country .. Anyone selling to us will quote pie in the sky figures for their players...they would have asked 50K for the groundsman's dog ! The Tribunal are more logical. Our original estimate looked pretty spot-on.

Our original estimate looked pretty spot-on. With the alleged add ons pushing it up to 250k + sell on clause, I think Brentford are very lucky with this deal. Another 1 or 2 years and it would be a straight Bosman free. However, this tribunal fee is meant to compensate the selling club for their time and expense in developing a young player through their ranks. All well and good except that AFAIK Brentford bought him as a ready made player from Plymouth, who were the club who actually developed him and presumably they have already been compensated when they sold him to Brentford. To my mind the Bees are getting a decent wedge for an out of contract player whose only development with them was to be plonked straight into their first team after somebody else had developed him... Goalie66 Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 Why did the OS not reveal the full amounts payable as did Brentford? Some what undermines the credibility of the club if it decides to be economical with the truth and questions the validity of future statements!!. Some what undermines the credibility of the club if it decides to be economical with the truth and questions the validity of future statements!!. I suppose because really as it is all ML's money, it is his business and he'd rather not reveal the full price of what he has paid. One of the downsides of being owned by one rich man - but hey I am not knocking it before the bricks start getting hurled.

benjii Posted 2 August, 2010 Share Posted 2 August, 2010 Maybe we are negotiating with Brentford? Do they have cash flow difficulties? I think it should be a safe bet that he will play 40 or 50 games for Saints so maybe we're offering them, for example, £175k up front instead? Just a thought.
