SFC Announcement

Southampton Football Club ("the Club") wishes to make clear that it is continuing its discussions with a number of potential candidates for the post of First Team Manager.

Contrary to some highly misleading comments published this morning, the Club has made no ultimatums, has not made any approaches without appropriate permissions, and is fully aware that appropriate compensation payments become due where the candidate managers are currently under contract. The Club has acted in an entirely professional manner and will continue to do so.

No further comment will be made on this matter until the Club has appointed a new First Team Manager.

'continuing its discussions with a number of potential candidates for the post of First Team Manager'

There you go. The official line is we haven't made our minds up yet. Ridiculous the amount of time it's taking. Maybe this is a weakness in the new structure of the club. If it takes this long to appoint a manager, how long to sign a player.

Not happy.

Someone's telling porkies? Either the Chairman of S****horpe is telling fibs or we are.

Or maybe no one is lying. Adkins agrees terms subject to compensation to his current club and that has not been possible to negotiate.

Scunny are p*ssed off as their fans favourite wants out but they can't get the money they want for him.

We are in limbo as the negotiations have been fruitless.

The search continues. No need for the vitriol, surely.

This is the first word we have had officially from SFC for sometime, including this morning reference Adkins.

At no point did SFC claim it was a done deal with Adkins, all guess work by the media which appears to have been led by the scunny chairman.

i will keep an opened mind.

See this is what happens when people talk before it is confirmed by the club first. (See Echo issue on training ground and also that defender from Voventry as well). That means Phil brown is out as well as he blabbed on talk sport yesterday. So far MON and EH have been very silent on all fronts. :)

Who do you support? Me I'm Saints so I'll go with our side of things until I hear anything differently.

Are you a little thick? Why would I post on here and have supported Saints since 1956 if I wasn't a Saints supporter? Perhaps I'm not blinded to see the other side of the coin, as you seem to be.

Notice how the quotes from the Scunny chairman don't say we didn't offer any compensation, only that none was agreed.

Methinks they were asking for a silly amount and we walked away.

What's caused their chairman to come out with claims of tapping up in effect... could be us, could be him, but there's no way of telling for the moment.

Did you read the quote from the Scunny chairman and the statement from SFC? They contradict each other!

No vitriol, just making the comment that one is telling porkies.

I am a little concerned that the Scunny chairman stated we made an ultimatum for him to resign but that doesn't strike me as Cortese's style. So I would refer back to my theory and this being an emotional p*ssed off reaction from him.

I think most people are impatient as you, me included, but it's hardly ridiculous or a slant on the structure. Probably more indicative of the number of applicants.

Aston Villa took 3-4 weeks to appoint Houllier and they apparently only interviewed 3 people.

Get a grip mate!!!!

Sorry Norm not meant the way it came across - what I was trying to say is I'll beleive my club before S****horpe

I wish they'd update the BBC article with our statement, looks very bad on us atm until they do, when it'll be down to people to make their own mind up.

I hope they leave it as it is, reporting the truth not our embarrassing fingers-in-ears-not-listening denial of everything.
