Huddersfield build-up

OK. Since I don't think we've got one I'll start it.

This could be a defining match. Win and it's a clear statement of progress, 6 games unbeaten and would be close to the playoff places. Lose and it would be a big backward step. So although a win would be great, I think I'd take a draw.

The tactics will be interesting and a measure of how NA will adapt to different situations. At Sheffield we played more like the home team and last week totally dominated going forward with most of the possession. But if you look at the highlights of Colchester vs Huddersfield from last week It was three counter-attacking goals that won the match against the run of play.

I would expect to see the same team as last week but with Spiderman back for Chaplow and Guly playing behind Lambert, or possibly no Guly to start with and a 4-5-1 with Chaplow and Spiderman rather than a more attacking formation leaving us more vulnerable on the break.

Anyone a member of the Huddersfield boards? Are they cacking it?

Nope, about 90% of them i'd say were confident of a win, by 2 clear goals by the look of it. Lots of "a repeat of last years 3-1 win" being said. To be fair they could be right on that one, I hope not though

One of our lot is on there going by the name of "liebherriffic" making a rite bellend out of himself. If you post on here, sort your life out mate.

----------------------DAVIS---------------------

BUTTERFIELD----FONTE----SEABORNE----HARDING

PUNCHEON----MORGAN-----HAMMOND----LALLANA

--------------LAMBERT-----GULY----------------

Subs: Bart, Martin, Richardson, Dickson, Chaplow, Barnard, Chamberlain

Only one change from last week, Morgan back in for Chaplow. That team ought to win tbh, although i'm expecting it to be a tough game since it's away and they won 3-0 at the weekend.

1-1 methinks.

We have to start Guly after last week. Team should be:

Davis

Butterfield Fonte Seaborne Harding

Puncheon Hammond Chaplow Lallana

Guly Lambert

Bench of:

Bart, Schneiderlin, Dickson, Jaidi, Barnard, new striker guy, Martin

(cracking bench now by the way.)

Much as I like Morgan & think that he should be a starter there is a very good case for not changing a winning team the lads that played last saturday all did enough to keep the shirt so I agree keep the same side.

As you say our bench is looking good we still have Richardson to come back as well good competition for places the only players that can be sure of a start are Kelvin Fonte Lambo & Lallana.

Udders will be a big test can we keep our momentum going I would take a draw a win would be fantastic we would be right back on track with a win. COYS

I occasionally drink with a Huddersfield ST holder (not bad, seeing as he drives 240 miles from Surrey for each home game for him) and he does not rate Lee Clarks tactics at all in terms of formation and substitutions, so I think the way we are currently playing will make it a little easier than it might seem.

It is well worth keeping an eye out on here : http://www.htfc-world.com/ a few days after the game. Some of the old match cartoons/movies are really funny.

I've been reading that for years, even last season's lost was easier to take after reading the piece Danny put together.

We CAN win this. We've definitely improved under Adkins, strengthened one or two areas, and Guly seems to have aclimatised to the rigours of League One football. Huddersfield's form has been patchy, but they had a good win last weekend, and on paper their team is very strong. Complete and utter 100% performances from every Saints player on Saturday and we can win this, I do, however, think a draw is the most likely outcome. I'm going for a 2-2 draw with a line up of

Davis

Butterfield, Fonte, Seaborne, Harding

Puncheon, Chappers, Hammond, Lallana

Guly

Lambert

subs: Bart, Richardson, Jaidi, Dickson, Morgan, Ox-C, Barnard.

Morgan for Chaplow only change

doubt it, I expect Barnard and Chaplow to start instead of Morgan and Guly, hope we don't p*ss them both off so much that they'll be on the phone to their agents before the afternoon is out.Mark my words if Morgan gets dropped because he was away on international duty we can say good bye (or adieu) to him,but I'm afraid NA is stupid enough to do it.

I'd stick with the same team that beat Tranny. Harsh on Morgan and Barny who have been pretty good this season, but I just don't see the point in changing the side.

To have the best possible chance of winning the game? The Saints side that beat Bournemouth was different to the one that beat Tranmere, yet Saints still won easily.

Yeah, but I think the "If it aint broke don't fix it" principle applies here. After the Wednesday game, where we were the better team but hardly world beaters, I would have forgiven people for wanting to make changes. I wasn't at the Tranmere game, but by all accounts we completely played them off the park and there were no poor players.

I fully respect those who want Morgan back though. It's a fantastic dilema to be in. :D

The 'aint broke don't fix it' logic is really simplifying football. It suggests you keep going until it breaks, and doesn't actually show any regard for your opposition, which changes every week.

Would we want to give no consideration to who we're playing? To me, studying the opposition, not being surprised by them and coming up with the best 11 and tactics to overcome them is by far the most intelligent method and I'm glad Adkins is doing that. If we have the same 11, it's because he thinks it's best for this game. Maybe some players are better away from home than others for instance, or some better against pace or strength or height...

True, but I think the side which beat Tranmere is the one mostly likely to beat the Udders, simply because they played so well. I think stability will help and taking out players like Guly or Chaplow for Morgan or Barnard wont help. I think Morgan has better ability than Chaplow overall, but I don't nescessarily think the team will automatically be stonger with him in the side.

From BBC : Quite happy, I think the keeper and Novak are quite big players for them....

Huddersfield will be without winger Lee Croft, who is serving a one-match ban after his red card at Colchester.

Goalkeeper Alex Smithies (leg) will also miss out, while midfielder Anthony Pilkington (back) and striker Lee Novak (hamstring) are doubtful.

Southampton will welcome back Morgan Schneiderlin, who has returned from international duty with France U21s.

Defender Frazer Richardson could feature for the first time this season, after a dislocated shoulder.

Wouldn't change anything from last week.

I'll be late on parade on the match day thread have to go out to Sharjah today.

Highly traumatic experience spending any amount of time up there, it's like going "Oop North" except they don't have beer up the road..... Shudder
