Chez Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 as in Sky said we had signed but he hadn't. And the second part of the sentence relates to Guly just starting to show what he can do.
Colinjb Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 Sorry! You lost me there ... Back last January. Sky broke the reports we had signed him. As far as I understand it, we had a bid accepted and had agreed contractual terms. Ward had even said goodbye to his Coventry team mates. Sky got wind of it and broke the news as 'signed and sealed.' At the last minute the offer was withdrawn before Ward could sign the paperwork. Caused quite a hoo-haa.

Looks like we might want to keep him and he wants to stay, but residency for his wife might be a problem? If anyone can get a better translation that'd be great. 1st part: According to a report in Corriere Romagna, Cesena may also find place among the contenders for the Moroccan midfielder Houssine Kharja of Genoa. Former Siena, which also affects the Naples, it appears, by the leadership of Romagna, a goal more easily navigable than the attempt to bring home the Brazilian Guilherme Do Prado, which was sold to Southampton in the summer, whose difficulties are denied on British soil Small by the manager: "It's just a bureaucratic problem as soon as the wife will get British citizenship, will reach the necessary documents for Do Prado. So will the Southtempton, less than sensational surprises, "according to TuttoCesena. 2nd part The IDEA DO PRADO - Yesterday was approached an interest, in fact already quite dated, Do Prado del Toro. The Brazilian military happily in Southampton, but must resolve bureaucratic problems (basically have a residence permit for his wife), otherwise will change teams. With his time as manager has run until January 20 to resolve the issue, otherwise return to Cesena. The Taurus, however, no longer thinks of him since last summer, and in any case, being a playmaker, can not be the priority of Petrachi Do Prado. Not long back after driving back across France, but I'll see if I can find time tomorrow. At least I won't be out skiing as I picked up a nasty cold over in the UK. At least I saw two wins though, which is one better than the whole of the previous 4 and a half years I've been away! buctootim Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 Read to me as if his wife has some kind of entitlement to a British passport, and that her getting citizenship is the key to Guly becoming a permanent signing, because as a Lg1 player he wouldnt qualify for a visa as a sportsman of outstanding ability in his own right. Or I may be wrong.... I read it the other way round as that his wife is waiting for a settlement visa, if she can't stay he'll be off. I know from my own experience that having a British passport doesn't automatically entitle your spouse to live in the UK, and the whole process can take up to 6 months. If she had an entitlement to a British passport that could have been sorted out months ago as you can fast-track them and get it in a day.

suewhistle Posted 6 January, 2011 Share Posted 6 January, 2011 No. 2: Yesterday came up with an interest , in truth already rather dated, by Torino for DP. The Brazilian plays happily for Southampton but must resolve some bureaucratic problems (in practice his wife's permit to stay), [if not] he'll change his team. With his agent they've given until the 20th January to resolve the question or else he'll return to Cessena. Torino, however, haven't thought about him since last summer: and negotiating for a trequartista* [creative MF who plays in the hole] DP can't be the priority for Petrachi. Not sure about UK regs over accompanying spouses: could it be she has to apply from outide the country?
SaintNeil90 Posted 7 January, 2011 Share Posted 7 January, 2011 Adkins just did interview on Wave 105... Matthew Le God Posted 9 January, 2011 Share Posted 9 January, 2011 That doesn't sound confused with Adam to me. That Sky article is wrong and has taken quotes from a longer interview out of context and patched them together. Adkins said those things about Lallana, watch Saints Player and you will see the full interview where he says ""He's a marquee player. He's a joy to watch. His attitude is tremendous. He's signed long term, he's committed himself, for me he is a magnificent signing", all in reference to Lallana and not Guly. When Guly signs it will be on the OS, they have no reason to keep it a secret. Guly's loan runs out on January 23rd according to Adkins so he may not sign until after that point (and if his partner is allowed into the country). benjii Posted 9 January, 2011 Share Posted 9 January, 2011 Seems pretty clear that all parties want Guly to sign for us but that there may be a hitch that is outside Guly's control and ours and Cesena's. That would be a right bugger. The important thing is to reach a resolution asap as if he doesn't sign we will need to sign someone else.
