JackFrost Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 Thought he deserves a thread of his own. Picked us up after consecutive losses under the Wilkins stint and with squad morale at a season low, and turned us into a force that even Huddersfield couldn't stop. Absolutely fantastic job and well done!

um pahars Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 Adkins has done very, very well indeed, particularly at the business end and given how hard Huddersfield have pushed us, the way he has got the team to respond has been very impressive. Well done.

dubai_phil Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 The way our team have come out onto the pitch in the past few games has been fantastic. It has been a very very long time since I have had real confidence that we would go out and do a job. After all the years of pain we have a bunch of players who are a TEAM again Well done to Nige And that's it fingers are going as the beer flow
aintforever Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 Amazing achievement considering we were bottom when he took over, Huddersfield have been on fire and we have had a lot of key players injured. Give him a full pre-season, a bit of cash, and we could do a Norwich next year.

Jimmy_D Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 Last season we missed out because of the points deduction. But thanks to Adkins we're up at the first equal opportunity, great achievement. Leeds didn't manage that, very few teams manage to bounce back up this quickly, even with the money we have.

corky morris Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 Being honest, I had my doubts (still do if I am being honest), but fair play for an excellent job. The recent run has shown him to be a lot more aware than I had given him credit for. Deserves manager of the season for what he inherited when he did. Huntingdon Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 He's done an incredible job, there's no question about that However, at Scunny the only money he had in the Championship was to fight relegation, he never had a chequebook with expectations of mounting a promotion challenge. The next 6 months will show what Adkins is made of If he achieves another promotion, he'll enter the hall of fame
Special K Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 When he was appointed i thought we had missed the chance for promotion this season. I certainly didn't think he'd turn it around so quickly and was not that taken with his appointment, tbf. Glad i was so wrong. Superb effort from NA and all the staff - a cracking job, brilliantly done.
Steeleye Saint Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 He took over when the players were at their lowest and turned it around - has to take all the plaudits for what he's done. up and away Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 Being honest, I had my doubts (still do if I am being honest), but fair play for an excellent job. The recent run has shown him to be a lot more aware than I had given him credit for. Deserves manager of the season for what he inherited when he did. Adkins was not my first choice, but definitely my first choice from managers I believed we could get to come to Saints, so a practical first. I would pick Adkins every time over Pardew, Adkins learns from his errors and when things are not going well and most importantly, he can actually get the players to do what he wants, whereas Pardew struggled through the whole season with that. There were a couple of things that Adkins let go on too long, exposing the flanks to easy attacks and not rotating players enough for the volume of games, but at the end of the day he sorted all that out and the resolute display we gave in grabbing that automatic spot with both hands was extremely professional. It's going to be interesting now to see how he does in the Championship but i really have to thank him for getting my belief in football back again. Under Burley I really struggled with the fact their was no empathy from the player to the fans, now the whole club is more atuned with the fans then ever, something Nigel has brought about. One other good point, he gets the manager of the month award without the curse being the last month, well done Nigel.

sammysaint Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 Well Done Nigel DONE A GREAT JOB in league one, now we need you to turn us into a playoff championship team if the money is still there, i don't expect promotion next season but l expect to finish mid table, if given a good budget then try and sneak in to the playoffs, to do so i feel we only need 2/3 top championship players and to keep AL JF AOC RL ETC... UP THE SAINTS
Ian the Red Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 To all those who doubted him, and still doubt Cortese I hope you have changed your mind. gaz Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 I'll hold my hands up and say, I said ''who?'' when he was appointed. To me, he was fairly unknown. NickG Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 the test was the last few weeks - not next season. The way he has dealt with the pressure and expectation in the last few weeks is admirable. It has shown through the players. He was confident enough to use different tactics. He knew this squad was good enough and didn't follow the fantasy football tactics advocated but some on here in January. Top performance and wish people had been as confident as him and not given up on 2nd etc

s0108787 Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 Buying players is a collective effort from the scouting network at the club and the manager is just one person who has a say in it.
doddisalegend Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 Well done Nigel and AC promotion it is. However as I have said before we have had the most expensive team in legaue one history, we have resources some PL teams would want. Second was a bare minimum this season IMO. Happy as I am at the moment (which is very). I'm waiting to see how we do next season in a league full bigger teams before I hail Nigel a genuis. He has IMO earned himself the right to a full season to have a crack at the championship and I hope the chairman agrees this time. Getting out of this league really should be the easy bit (and credit to hudders for making that harder than it should of been). Nigels test really is next season, If he can get us to do a Norwich in our first season then I well have Nigels love child. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Nigel does in the summer team wise now.
Kingsland Red Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 Top appointment, a man who plays the percentages, and has brought a calculated quality to a club that has been on a bit of a whimsical journey with the likes of Burley, Pardew, Arry and, erm the Dutch, ( I did like Pearson though). BotleySaint Posted 2 May, 2011 Share Posted 2 May, 2011 We could so easily have lost our nerve in these last few games. But instead we've gone into them in style, with confidence and been able to express ourselves as a footballing side. The only sad thing is we can't catch Brighton!!
