Other Team's Transfers

Laid out along The Nicola Cortese corridor ™ at St Mary's.

took the safe key with him did he, seems like they can put it in but not take it out. Bit like the old night safe system that banks used to have really. Old metal trap door that traders shoved bags of cash in at the end of trading and after bank closing hours. Ah for the old days, never even got robbed either.

Fantastically honest comments from Lukaku...but probably not what you want to say when you've first signed for Everton!

"a chat with Martinez on deadline day..."

Surely this is a quote from when he went there on loan last year, not a recent one from his perm move.

Can't see that terminology endearing to the Blue part of Liverpool "look at the players who came from here and went on to a BIG club . . . ." maybe a course on the intricacies of diplomatic language wouldn't go amiss. Always providing of course [source dependent] it's not a wind-up from the Red side of the divide.

£28m (BBC) for Lukaku seems a lot to me. Good player, but not great. Wouldn't have wanted him for that price.

2012/13 - WBA 35 games 17 goals

2013/14 - Everton 31 games 15 goals.

JRod

2012/13 - 35 games 6 goals

2103/14 - 33 games 15 goals

So Lukaku has done it 2 seasons in a row, while JRod has only done it for one season. What are people talking about with Jay, £15m? Seems a bit of a disparity there, and to me shows that the common assumption that English players are over priced is not always true. Or rather, it's not just English players that are over priced.

Not a transfer per se, but Ravel Morrison has beaten up 2 girls and been arrested so he might be off to ze clink. Need to adapt the Marlon King song for when we play West Ham, but Christ knows what Big Fat Sam's team will be like if the only player capable of not playing hoof ball is in prison and the £15m horse hasn't been put out of his misery yet....

That's "convenient" for Big Sam. He and the board seemed to be at loggerheads over Morrison and now it seems that Sam was in the right. But...it's such a shame that these kids have no idea how lucky they are and some just **** it away. Too much money at too early an age (or any age for that matter) has led some to think that they can behave as they want and that they are above the rest of us. Not the first person to do this, and certainly won't be the last.

I'm jealous of Eveton - they have been linked with Lukaku, they bid and the deal is done - why can't we operate as smoothly as this?

The Lukaku deal didn't come out of nothing. The player had a good idea of what he was getting into, and obviously enjoyed his time there last year. Everton pitch themselves as something different and make a bit of a cult of all of the players that went and stayed there, which happens quite a bit.

They have quietly managed to amass some impressive players through this loan-em-first routine. Looks like we're having a go with Bertrand.

Widespread reports claiming Frank Lampard is on the verge of agreeing a short-term deal at Manchester City. Lampard is due to join City's sister club New York City FC next year, but it is now being suggested he could make the move to the Etihad until he makes the move to the MLS next March.

Newcastle signing Lascelles and Darlow from Forest, great couple of prospects. Think they are loaning them back for a year.

Would say of the teams below us last year they have done the best business so far on paper.

Certainly now have squad depth far in advance of us.

If that does happen I would be a little bit jealous, they're the sort of 'young exciting English talent' we're supposed to be signing ini?

They've bought two future England regulars there for 5 million. Excellent business.

Whose done the best single transfer for their team.

Factoring in the team strength in that position, cost and likely adaption to the league if from outside.

I think Dusan will be up there in the top 5 new signings in the league when you consider the above, think maybe Cabella also looks good and maybe de jong (siem).

The legend of last summer's transfer window the wolfs winkle has joined St Etienne on loan.

Norwich City FC @NorwichCityFC

#NCFC can confirm that Ricky van Wolfswinkel has joined Saint-Etienne on a season-long loan

Yup it was about this time last season that we were being told by the resident miserable windups that we had done the worst in the transfer window and we were nowhere near Norwich in terms of adding quality also our board was a joke over their inability to get any signings done. From there it was easy for them to predict our miserable season and floundering to 17th...

Darren Lewis ‏@MirrorDarren 4m

Tottenham have had an offer accepted for PSV winger Memphis Depay. Nacer Chadli set to go the other way. More @mirrorfootball

Boo!

Good buy for them, on the plus side for us it makes Morgan going there less likely as they can't offer Chadli in the deal (for some reason I think that's what they tried before, but could be making it up)

Barcelona agree £15m fee to sign Thomas Vermaelen from Arsenal

An incredible price for a player who is a bit-part at Arsenal. And Barca's policy of spending stupid amounts of cash on over the hill defenders is proving quite impressive.

Especially as they've just signed Jérémie Mathieu from Valence as well, same profile CB/LB, roughly the same price 20 million € can't be far off 15 million £.

Mathieu is 30 and he's had a bit part career really. Amazed that Barca are in any way interested in him, mind you given the shambles that their defence has looked on occasions since they've not had Pujol I guess you can understand them wanting to multiply their options.
