Mr X Posted 8 January, 2009 Share Posted 8 January, 2009 Because British coaches can't work with Dutch players? No because he's suddenly being allowed to sign players from his home country (admittedly prob free transfers) Lowe obviously has faith that hes going to turn things around and that he will he will be sticking with poorvliet for the remainder of the season
Saint Martini Posted 8 January, 2009 Share Posted 8 January, 2009 VI report it in Holland as a done deal. http://www.vi.nl/NieuwsItem/RodaJCHaaltAddoEnLaatSaeijsNaarSouthamptonGaan.htm Good signing in my opinion. He's a real leader and before he joined Roda he had a few successful relegation battles with ADO Den Haag so he's sort of familiar with the situation. Not sure if he's 1.90m but he's quite tall and he's got good composure on the ball. In the Netherlands he always scored a few from corners so hopefully he'll do the same here. Thanks Martini that sounds encouraging, I'm surprised we haven't tried this avenue before. He CANNOT be any worse than Lancashire who really is Sunday League standard - Perry was doing his nut V Man U as he had to do his work and Ollie's and Perry isn't 21 anymore although glad we have him. Lancashire should be loaned to Eastleigh, he wouldn't even cut it in the Conference with Nick Holmes and Salisbury.

saint1977 Posted 8 January, 2009 Share Posted 8 January, 2009 Is is just me, or does he look a lot like Claus? See what you mean and the good on the ball description from Martini fits that as well. If he's signed that's good, he really cannot be worse than what we've been using. We should have 3 or 4 of the best youngsters in the side and the rest should be players like this given our relegation fight.

Let's hope he gives some stability to the back line.
Alain Perrin Posted 8 January, 2009 Share Posted 8 January, 2009 He CANNOT be any worse than Lancashire who really is Sunday League standard Stupid statement. I assume you had similar comments on Crouch (before he came good), Bennett (before he came good), Williams (before he came good) etc. etc. Lancashire is not Sunday League standard and to suggest so says more about you than it does about him. There might be an argument that he is not yet ready for the Championship, week in week out, he's certainly no match for Man Utd's strikers, but I think he stands a chance of becoming a good footballer. Will he play for Arsenal or Chelsea, probably not - but are we Arsenal or Chelsea?
