It's seeing this that makes me further wonder how that championship season would have gone with someone competent in charge.

I think we'd have won the league, or at least pushed Leicester really, really hard. It was a tough season with 4 run aways, but we were the 4th placed team when we really shouldn't have been if we're honest.

I only ever saw us as a playoff side, we were never truly in that auto race - always on the fringes, which was pretty frustrating. The last min wins against Millwall, Watford, Birmingham etc really papered over some cracks - they were great and all, but we did struggle in most games we played I always felt. We were never comfortable.

Out of 46 games, I only really remember Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea, Blackburn and Preston as being comfortable wins. The rest were utter slogs.

They need to be brave and trust the process.

I wonder how many busses have engines at the ready in preparation for multiple players being thrown under them?

Meghoma seems to have gone off script already, very direct and putting balls in from deep. Not long before a player's revolt.

Hahahahahaha. I remember many being slated for saying how bad he was.

Well, well, well. He clearly pulled the wool over a lot of people’s eyes.
Sadly, it also shows how inept SR are that they fell for this charlatan

Blokes an absolute fraud. I honestly don't know what he's saying/doing to get his defence playing so badly.

Or you never see Meghoma again. Or he goes to a Russell realignment camp.

It struck me last night watching Charlie for Everton, getting stuck into contests and driving forward at every opportunity, Martin couldn’t wait to get him out the door.

Losing Alcaraz was a travesty. Martin was a prick for how he treated him.

I don't think you were alone. I found it a really weird season, In fact I'm still really conflicted by it as we finished on 87 points and got promoted, but it never felt right. Something always felt off.

I'd have been accepting of us swapping out in the summer we got promoted, but we were never going to do that.

The unbeaten run was triumphant though... ;)

(Yes, I know... I'm sure I'll let it go one of these days... 😁)

Please don't sack him rangers. At least let him get tonked by celtic first.

I’m hoping for an absolute humiliation, Leicester style, just so the scales can finally be lifted from the cultists eyes.

First time I’ve seen them under Martín. Blimey, what a shambles. Looks of total bewilderment on the faces of players and fans alike. Short of a miracle he’s a goner surely.

Wow didn't see the first goal, what the FUCK was the defender doing 😂😂😂

And the Keeper, he could just as easily ran out and cleared. Total indecision....... shit coaching and management.

He is of course the focus of discussion on the Rangers forum...

Right, but digging deeper into that one season: they conceded 19 goals in their first 8 games, which included a 5-0 and a 4-1 defeat. Things did significantly stabilise temporary after that - 7 in their next 8, 3 in the 8 after that, 9 in the 8 after that. We might expect to see that also in the next few months.

The worrying thing is that, after an excellent run mid-season, they reverted to type. They conceded 25 goals in their remaining 14 games, including another 5-0 defeat, and despite their 25-game undefeated run prior, they ended up missing out on promotion.

Overall, their first clean sheet came in October, and they had 11 clean sheets, which was about 10th best. Compared to the other promoted sides, they conceded 22 more than Leicester and 6 more than Ipswich. Compared to the teams around them, they conceded 20 more than Leeds, and 16 more than Norwich, and two less than Birmingham, who were relegated that year, albeit by a point.

Their results against the other top sides are also worrying. They were soundly beaten 5-0 and 4-1 by Leicester and also lost both games to Ipswich. They did beat Leeds every time, which may well have had an impact on him getting the job.

If there's going to be a chance it all comes together, he needs to make sure this Rangers side are more defensively solid than the previous teams he's managed. There's a real risk that otherwise we will get a few doing's, in Europe and against them.

Yep, I'm praying for a mini comeback... Reduce the score to 3-2 and the derby humiliation will still be on! 😉

Nah, you know what it'll be if that happens. "We won the last 70 minutes of the game 2-0".

The rangers goalkeeping coach doing the halftime punditry (not sure that's a good idea) just laughed at a joke at Martin's expense.

Bit like when we had Ramsdale doing punditry when we got tonked against Spurs, it was an utter humiliation

To those who say that this is childish bitterness and we, as mature adults should move on and in good grace turn the other cheek.

Fuck off, this is pure catharsis! I'm bloody loving it.

This isn't about you Rangers. Well, your board's terrible decision making maybe.

Watch and learn Saints fans. We used to have some guts in us as well….

In the words of @Matthew Le God... "Protests don't achieve anything"... ;)

Astute observations there from that Rangers fan. The only thing he missed is the reason we beat Leeds 3 times, and that was because we were coming off the back of a run of poor results each time, and it was the only time that Martin relaxed / parked his 'Russball' tactics for those games.
