Miltonaggro Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Look at the positioning for the first goal against Hull: 1 1
sfc4prem Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I've said it before, he has crisp packet hands and wrists. He frequently dives late. It's almost comical, like he's been instructed to do so to take the piss out of us. His attempt at diverting the header for the first goal to safety was comfortably one of the worst parries I've ever witnessed. I swear the bloke must be some sort of Portsmouth spy sent to fuck us over. Has he cast a spell on the people in charge? If they were lazy, all they would have to do is look at the raw data about his shot-stopping ability. Terrible. 4
bugenhagen Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago As long as we persist with him in goal, we will let in most shots on goal. Doesn't matter if we play Russball or Stillball. He reacts so slow. We will need to score more than 2-3 goals most matches to get draws and wins, and as horrible as we are on the pitch right now... this is gonna hurt! 3
Gloucester Saint Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Still safely in possession of the keeper jersey in my worst ever Southampton XI for any division.

bpsaint Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago It’s honestly got to the point where I’m starting to think the bloke has a contract clause that means he is guaranteed to start. I can’t wrap my head round it otherwise, he’s fucking shite and if he’s doing it in matches you can bet he’s doing it in training. That many managers and coaches can’t be blind to something so obvious surely. 2
LGTL Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Worst GK in the league two years ago. And the worst GK in the league this year. Not exactly a surprise is it. 3
S-Clarke Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Is there really any point debating this fool anymore? He's an absolute abomination of a goalkeeper - this is from my eyes, not from stats. That first goal was a disgrace and I'd drop him for that. The club massively ballsed up on two things in the summer - thinking George Long is all we needed as GK competition, and giving Jack fricking Stephens, Captain Supremo, a 3 year contract. Those two decisions right there will make the new signings almost null and void. 14

Which is why I appreciate your post about Will Still and agree that last season was bound to be damaging but I’m 100% certain Will Still is NOT the answer. And for the reasons you’ve put here. No DoF working with me makes those two decisions. Or they get a blast in public if they did it regardless. So he’s either a piss weak yes man (SR speciality) or as I suspect more, he has a dreadful lack of judgement. I cannot believe that Bazunu suddenly turns into Gordon Banks in training. 1

I just don't see the answer in swapping out a manager after 6 games, and especially when it's SR who would appoint the next one. He may well be a yes man, but as long as SR are in charge, all we'll appoint are yes men - so getting rid of him doesn't really change anything, we'd just pivot to someone worse. We've got to give him a chance to try to reset what went before. But the core problem at this club isn't necessarily Bazunu, Stephens or Will Still - it's Sports Republic and what their muddy hands have done to us. 1

I broadly agree on the club and SR - only prospect of any sustained improvement is them selling - but there’s no pattern of play whatsoever, Bazunu is still in goal and the defence looks every bit as bad as when Martin was here. Midfield doesn’t exist. There’s nothing to build on. Someone like Carrick knows the division and should stop the worst of the stupid goals. And stops the successive relegation we are on the way to. Absolutely criminal that he’s our first-choice keeper. I still can't get my head round how shit he was for that first goal today. The header has no power in it whatsoever, but his reactions are so mind bogglingly bad that by the time he got down he had no chance of making what should have been an easy catch, and just threw his hands at it in a blind panic with absolutely no idea where it would end up. I've seen better keepers than him at my local 5 a side centre. It really does beggar belief how someone at Saints decided he was worth the £12m we paid for him. 5

Lee On Solent Saint Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago McCarthy should have a run in the side now, can't believe I'm even putting this forward. Absolutely done with Baz now. 5
Lord Duckhunter Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago He’s fucking pony. Need to get AM back in, he’s poor, but still a level above Baz. He’s going to cost us, over and over. 7
beatlesaint Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Hopefully McCarthy will have a blinder against Liverpool reserves on Tuesday and make it virtually impossible not to pick him next Saturday. And no, I cannot believe I’ve written the above sentence, it just shows what a shitshow this club has become !! 2

They don’t have the credit in the bank to be making more catastrophic lack of judgement errors like thinking yet again that Bazunu is fine as number 1. He’s synonymous with these charlatans unfortunately as one of their first key decisions was hanging their hat on him being the future of our goalkeeping department. 1

If SR take us down as far as the National League - if Solak really wants to rub it in on behalf of Milan Mandaric - Bazunu would still be the worst keeper in that division. Only consolation of his latest Frank Spencer display is that even Spors might actually think twice about giving the Irish Tommy Forecast a new contract. Edited 16 hours ago by Gloucester Saint

Because there's no way SR are going to let him leave on a free after the amount they've invested in him. So we'll undoubtedly give him a 2-3 year extension in the vain hope that he will improve over that time* and we can recoup some of that £12m. * which of course he won't, because so fundamental are his flaws, like reaction time and positional sense, that no amount of experience or coaching is ever going to improve those aspects of his game. 3

Nick Leeson. Wasn’t he recruited by Rupert Lowe ? Probably the most damaging he ever made if so. At least he didn’t leave his worst appointments until he came tonSaints. Or perhaps he did. 1

S-Clarke Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Just now, Chez said: Doesn't Macca look, well, a little bit too old and slow? I've stuck up for him in the past, but is he genuinely a better option at this moment? Anyone is a better option than Gavin Bazunu, but the fact is the the club have somehow managed to fill our GK ranks up with 3 truly horrific players. Not one of them should be anywhere near a Championship side, let alone one who aspires for promotion. That George Long signing was everything that is wrong with us wrapped up in a single transfer. This is why so many people called it out at the time, a truly disgusting decision by the club. This wasn't personal against George Long, it's because the club had the opportunity right there to get better than Bazunu - the opportunity was right in front of them, but they flinched. Shameful. 5
dsrdorset Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I never want to see Bazunu between the sticks ever again. 4
Osvaldorama Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Genuinely the worst keeper I’ve seen play for us, in any league. And yet he keeps playing. This football club is relentless with how stupid, unenjoyable and terrible it is 4
Willo of Whiteley Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago George Long was a comedy loan signing, seemingly with noise of celebrations coming from east anglia when that transfer was completed. Alex McCarthy has been shocking for years, and one of our most expensive players. It’s maddening that this guy was third choice two years ago, yet out of the blue played the final 6/7 games and got a new two year contract! But the fact we’re debating one of the above challenging Gavin Bazunu sums it up really. Too much too soon when we bought him. We’ll never recoup that money. Just another £10m pissed down the drain. 1
beatlesaint Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago They had the choice in the summer if they weren't prepared to do both. One was get a proven striker at Championship level who would benefit from the Still style of crosses in the box, the other option was to get a decent goalkeeper. They did niether. Pathetic and even if Still does get them playing well the lack of a good striker and keeper will bite us on the arse time and time again. 3

They are killing this club with every poor decision after poor decision that they make. The club is falling to bits piece by piece under their “guidance”. Every season we get that bit worse than the previous one. They need to fuck off and start being put under pressure from the fanbase and be called out in a public manner so the wider football circle can see what idiots they are: after 4 years of this shit enough is enough. Another 4 years and we will almost certainly be in league one and that’s being kind to them, Edited 3 hours ago by Mboto Gorge 1
badgerx16 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Do our strikers look good in training as they are going against our goalkeepers, or do our GKs look good because they are facing Downs, Stewart, et al ? 1 1

HarvSFC Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago There was absolutely nothing stopping the club from loaning a new number one this summer after loaning out Ramsdale, one of our two good players from last season. Yet, we replaced him with a third choice on loan, because he's a good character to have around the dressing room. Surely, McCarthy already covered that criteria? This is the same club that went into the Premier League season with McCarthy as number one and Lumley as number two while Bazunu recovered from injury. It then became apparent that was a big fuck up and they panic bought Ramsdale in the last days of the transfer window. Unfortunately, our poor start to the league season didn't get the board to act in the goalkeeper department this summer. Looking at the free agent list for a Boruc like signing and there isn't a lot available, but Forster (shudder), Rui Patricio and Guaita are there to cover for a season and then reassess a new long-term number one in the summer.

They’re obsessed with Bazunu being our goalkeeping poster boy, that’s why. They were adamant they weren’t going to block his path to being our number 1 again for the championship. They literally don’t know what they’re doing. At first they thought he was prem level when he first signed, then after promotion even they had to admit they couldn’t go into another prem season with him between the sticks, so signed Ramsdale. But this season was their big chance to show everyone how good he is at this level , to somehow justify all the money and faith spent on him so they weren’t going to let anyone better than him ruin that chance. Absolute charlatans running this club , obsessing over a guy who’s literally costing points on a regular basis by being a genuinely terrible goalkeeper Edited 53 minutes ago by Mboto Gorge 2
