Fairly standard these days that players maintain fitness throughout summer. Back in the day it was properly on the beach, players turning up for pre season overweight and unfit. Year round fitness is monitored much more now.

Yep back in the 80s they’d often come back a stone overweight and preseason would be getting the weight off. Now they have summer training plans which are tapered to keep fitness levels but also support recovery. That, however, is very different to the intensity of preseason which is designed to build levels and sharpness back up again and why it’s so important players get a decent preseason or else they’re playing catch up. Makes MLGs laughable comment about being at the World Cup effectively being a preseason show his lack of understanding of real life away from computer games

Interesting if true. Would be one of their best players (for the third of the season he plays). Sounds like his agent has potentially dropped one here though as doubt he'll get anywhere near his salary with them than here.

I could think of no reason why any player would join Blackburn at the moment over Southampton. Would be a genuinely astonishing move which is why I think it is bollocks.

I have absolutely no idea if the Blackburn rumour is true, but I doubt he has too many options (due to his injuries and salary expectations) so maybe they are the best 'northern' option avaialble to him, if thats what he's looking for.

I never went that level, but I did used to post the odd thing on a football rumours website (purely because it was funny) and for a while within a day or two those “rumours” would surface on either 606 or this forum.
