While it’s a valid point you are making would you really want to go to a club that probably will be just as bad as we were?

If it was West Ham, Bournemouth, Palace etc I wouldn’t hesitate if I was him but a repeat season? No thanks

hey all those teams youve mentioned  are all going to be struggling  this season for one reason or another europe players leaving or left and managers not getting it right, nor time in the job.

Dibling as well you would imagine and potentially Fernandes. He (MF) would have to be slightly mad to turn down PL options for a season in the Championship - he doesn't need that development.

Have Rangers signed any left backs?

Why do people want this out of interest? Do people see someone Sunderland have deemed not good enough as a potential long term option for us then?

Not sure I said I wanted it.  I would rather we signed Johansson from Stoke.

Patterson is far better than our current alternatives to Ramsdale though.

Okay so in a years time if we get promoted then potentially all 3 are on our books and we're looking for another yeah?

McCarthy will be out of contract in a year.

Personally prefer Manning to Taylor as a LB. Taylor better defensively but offers absolutely nothing going forward.

Hopefully Welington will be first choice.

Taylor, Wellington, Manning. We don’t need three so there’s an odd one out somewhere.

Manning got lots of assists at Swansea but looked as dreadful going forward as defensively under the same manager here strangely.

He probably wants to convince the club and fans to consume vegan mars bars deep fried only in vegetable oil before he tackles that one.

Taylor didn’t play well today but you’re forgetting just how poor Manning was last time out. Watch the Brum away, Leicester away and some of the other highlights and you’ll see what I mean. Agree Wellington should be first choice based on the cameos last season.

Thought Welington looked really up for it today so hoping he’ll emerge as our first choice.

Not a fan of the first two, but have seen very little of note re Wellington. Several have said he reminds them of Bertrand, but apart from a slight resemblance in appearance I don’t see it (yet).

He will get tested defensively far more than today, as will Sugawara but they didn’t half bring some energy and willingness to get forward and put deliveries in compared with the first half with Taylor and Bree.

Those not travelled today and aren’t on extended leave so ABK Bednarek Aribo and Manning too?

Ramsdale, Bednarek, Brereton, Aribo, Bella-Kotchap, maybe Archer?

They’re my guesses anyway.

Adam Blackmore specially asked him about Arma & BBD.  Said both can be “as important as they want to be.”

Of course I want Ramsdale to start and he was ok last season but I was disappointed in him.

I've seen keepers make more of a difference to us over a season, handful of good games but also mixed with he didn't look top level

Yeah, he was pretty poor. Was speaking to my agent mate (a Villa fan) and I suggested if they lose Emi they should take Rambo off us. He laughed and said he'd heard nothing but bad reports when being offered around (which he is being). Clubs in the PL were not impressed even in front of our car crash of a defence.

Losing Ramsdale's wages won't be disastrous. If anything, it might help us balance our squad for the promotion push.

If balancing the squad means ditching some of the shell-shocked dross from last season then Iam all for it.

Good thing is that its pretty clear, especially if Still prefers a 4-2-3-1 shape, where we need reinforcements the most - and that is right across the '3' - especially given Fernandes, Dibling and potentially Edozie are likely to be leaving.

Real lack of threat and creativity in those positions whereas pretty much everywhere else (aside from maybe GK when Ramsdale goes) we are well stocked I think.

Certainly in a situation where we need quality, maybe just 2 or 3 more additions, rather than quantity signings wise.

Aribo when he goes will add further to the funds for that part of the pitch.

What’s surprised me is Bednarek still being at the club with an alleged relegation release clause of only £6m. Roma supposedly bid a couple million more than that only in January.

I heard that Ramsdale was keen to set up in the South of England, he wanted to put some roots down here. That throws that out of the window, looks like Sunderland is almost done.

£25m, big chunk off the wage bill, and some decent time to get ourselves a good keeper to replace him.

Don't be clever Saints and proclaim he doesn't need to be replaced, as you will lose the fanbase on mass.

Bang on with this, the way football is going it’s those wide and withdrawn strikers that get you the goals.

Current CBs:

Bednarek

ABK

THB

Edwards

Quarshie

Woods

Sanda

We clearly have too many cbs at the moment. My working assumption has always been that ABK and Bednarek will both be off, leaving us with 5. If bednarek doesn't leave then I think we have to assume that THB is off.

And Stephens to add to the list, and to be on that list for a couple of extra seasons too.🙂

I can exclusively reveal now Gasperini has left Atalanta for Roma Bednerek is no longer a Roma target.

He likes ball playing defenders not ones who fall over a lot and looks like simple jack.

ABK, Bednarek, Smallbone, Aribo, Manning, Fraser,

One of Armstrong and Diaz

Ramsdale and Dibling only if the money is right.

I'd also look at loaning out Edwards or other centre back.

His form last season in this division would have him pencilled in as a starter for us in my book, especially with Bednarek and possibly THB  departing. But you wonder if that even registers with our lot whose focus will probably be developing Sanda and Quarshie above all else.

Perhaps you need to use the right word... volume, in the context of measurement, is an expression of how much space a substance or object occupies, not an expression of numerical quantity.

To use your expression, some people really are fucking dense, especially when they live in glass houses and start throwing stones...

I am 💯confident that will be the case.  The reality is, most clubs would probably see them both as good enough for the Championship. For aspiring Championship winners, that’s another matter.

Yet Bazunu remains reasonably popular, or perhaps it’s just politely popular, among support at games. Have to wonder how bad he has to get for the ‘nods’ to turn on him.

What’s this Matsuki fella like then? I’d forgotten all about him. Seen him described as a ball winning midfielder and an attacking midfielder.
