Leicester go down 2-1 to Preston with the latter looking to be comfortably the better side

It's very very early but some interesting signs emerging

Sheffield United made it three defeats in a week losing 1-0 at Swansea with zero shots on target. Selles already has his work cut out there and I'm sure they'll improve but poor start for a team tipped to be in contention for promotion

Our squad does look stronger by the game, and we haven’t even played particularly well.

No one is lighting up the league, or certainly no one you’d have expected to.

Middlesbrough are looking pretty good value - scored for fun at Millwall away.

They won't be up there. The club have gone down this bizarre AI/Data lead transfer strategy whilst letting some of the better performers last season leave, I can't see them mounting any serious recovery if they carry on as they are.

They were lucky to get to half time 0-0, but fair play for turning it around and getting a win.

A team not playing well but getting wins is always a threat.

Not sure he's all that from what I've seen and the Leicester fans certainly don't appear to be unanimous in championing his ability.

Can we do some Saints ones?

Passing backwards when through on goal - £100

Possession being below 70% - £250

Alan Ball instituted fines in training for hitting high balls into the channels post-Branfoot to cut the long ball obsession out.

Seems like a few of the 'favourites' are really struggling to get off of the blocks so far. Still so much uncertainty around most of our squads, so it's hard to know what 11 you'll be able to field most weeks.

Ipswich seem to be struggling to find their way, they don't like like the same outfit they were last time out in this league. Sheffield United were tipped as well, but they look hopeless.

Early days, but it shows how important the next week can be for everyone. No one is going to run away with it this year based on what I've seen so far, so some clever and suitable recruitment could be the difference.

El Khannouss may be staying at Leicester -

Quote

Crystal Palace's negotiations with Leicester City over forward Bilal El Khannouss have collapsed with the club now considering other options.

Palace want a replacement for Eberechi Eze, who joined Arsenal for £67.5m last week, and El Khannouss was top of their wanted list.

However, Leicester now consider the deal dead, and feel they don't now need to sell to meet their PSR obligations, having sold James Justin to Leeds and Kasey McAteer to Ipswich.

Palace had indicated they were prepared to agree a structured deal worth £32m for the Moroccan forward, but Leicester are adamant they want £35m up front.

It could be posturing and forcing someone to bid more money, but like with us keeping hold of Matty, that would be a good bit of news for Leicester.

Probably the least trustworthy club at PSR calculations.

How shifting only £50m of players means they’re good with PSR is anyone’s guess. Laughable how they still haven’t been given a deduction yet.

Sheffield United were called out as 'one of' the favourites at the start of the season, but they look screwed to me. They've signed some utter dross (including the manager) and are now losing Gus Hamer.

and went with a bizarre appointment as manager.

Hamer is brilliant, so hopefully he goes out of this league

Yeah, he's off to Leeds.

Found this fascinating, Ipswich can now field WBAs entire back 5 from a few years ago.

I know Ipswich are tipped to win the League but I really can't see a runaway leader this year. This would be a good year for us to click and shine. Add another trophy to the old cabinet.

No need to panic yet but being outplayed by and losing to Stoke means we need points on the board ASAP.

Yes would certainly be nice to go into the International break with a win. After the last couple of days too it would give the whole club a lift before the derby. Big game tomorrow.

Getting cut adrift! New players will take months to click, Baz in goal, strikers can't score, Will is ginger, Jack is never leaving... it's all going wrong. 😆

Don't panic, early days and even a defeat tomorrow isn't a disaster. After the International break is when the newbies will have had some time to gel... and then we play the Skates. That's the must win.

Not sure how Leicester managed to hold on to young talent like this. Usually gets picked off by Man City or Chelsea academies before pro contracts are signed

Leicester recently won the FA Cup and Premier League, perhaps?

Watching the game last night and neither team looked outstanding. Fatuwa and Monga both shone but the rest were average

Mmm. I watched it too - rare for me, to be honest. I only tend to watch games not involving Saints if they are 'big' games - finals or relegation scraps or derbies.

It was a close affair, but I felt that Leicester got a bit lucky at times. Birmingham got into the danger area a fair few times and couldn't finish.

Equally, Leicester do have some quality and move up the pitch very quickly. Mavididi, Daka, Fatawu, heck, even Ayew all have a bit of tenacity, technique and end product about them. I even saw Vestergaard ping a ball brilliantly forward to the foot of their striker who had made a run.

I think Leicester will be up there.

Birmingham, if they get their shooting boots on (much like us) and stop passing about at the back too frequently (like a Russball team) will probably make the playoffs.

I also remember Vest absolutely leathering the ball from all of 45 yards against Brighton(?) at St Mary's and hitting the bar?

Leicester have won three games without playing particularly well. Take Fatawu out and they are poor.

Where as we have won once without playing particularly well...

With the money we’ve spent and the players we have in place, you’d have to say we are out and out favourites now to win the league.

Lol we're not winning the league

Boro top followed by West Brom.

Sheffield United dead last, with Ipswich hovering above the relegation zone.

And of course, Saints mid table.

Been a weird start to the season.

We could be mid table at Christmas and still go up.

I’m sure things will come together over the next couple of weeks, now players are starting to arrive I’m sure we’ll see gradual improvements.
