Had a choice of whether to watch James or James tonight and I ended up choosing James. Nice big scoreline from James's team tonight.

Jack Stephens gets a mention in the world club cup final 👏👏👏👏😂

As someone not watching, my only tenuous link guess would be Cucurella's curly locks?

No, they said Levi Colwill has been like his hero Jack Stephens tonight

Given footballers can't resist pulling Cucurella's hair, should its continued existence be considered an unfair advantage?

Trump joining Chelsea’s trophy presentation is up there with the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. He just refused to leave. Haha.

If I was one of the Chelsea players (or manager) I would've told him to f*ck off. And then dare him to try to deport me using his masked ICE Gestapo thugs while 100 million are watching.

Just another corrupt guy getting mixed up with Chelsea.

Just read that Chelsea get $142.3 million for winning the Club World Cup. Not exactly healthy for the game.

Nothing about that tournament is healthy for the game…

America should not be allowed anywhere near our national sport. Trashy and tawdry from start to finish. Far too much money in it these days. Ridiculous wages, huge transfer fees and obscene prize money. I remember my Dad who was footy mad going through the roof when Johnny Giles was the first player to be paid £100 a week. He went on and on about how many hours he would have to drive his bus to get that. Just as well he can't see how FIFA are ruining the once humble game of football.

I didn't watch a minute of that tournament, even Chelsea / Man City fans I know weren't interested  yet Fifa will claim it was a success. All about the global product

Do Chelsea even have a pre season now ?

Chelsea have played around 43 weeks of football. As for FIFA they made £2b so of course they will see it as a success.

I wasn’t really interested I watched Bayern Munich beat that New Zealand team as I was bored and thought the whole thing was a farce. Watched the semi final PSG V Real and was blown away by PSG to be honest so watched the final as was expecting them to dish out a similar performance tonight but Chelsea were excellent. Crap tournament and nothing more than a money maker for FIFA but I did enjoy the semi final and final

I think with the bald FIFA guy saying its a success due to the revenue made sums it all up really.

Not too much about the fan experience, prestige etc....nope just about money made.

Johnny Haynes (Fulham) was the first 100/week footballer. Johnny Giles played for Leeds about ten years further on.

Me neither, purposely. Zero interest.
A pure marketing operation and a way of shoehorning in sub-standard Middle East and American teams into the world order. FIFA are jealous of the revenue that UEFA have via their club  competitions, and this is Infantino’s idea to counter it.

if ever a photo summed up everything wrong with the modern game…

Absolute nonsense of a tournament, and it seems a pretty hollow success for Chelsea - leaving aside the $ won of course - as it means fuck all to most fans.

The whole thing is a Watneys/Texaco Cup type tournamnent designed for billionaire owned clubs in the 21st Century for a global tv audience. In truth the Watneys/Texaco Cups meant more to the real fans of the clubs taking part at the time.

No doubt Chelsea and their players will be crying about too may games towards the end of next season.

I consider myself fortunate to have lived trough a bit of a golden era of football 1960's - 80's , before it started on the slippery slope to what it has now become.

The World Cup itself wasn’t popular when it started in the 30s

So who knows

Yeah, but that was countries - therefore it united nations. Is anyone outside of Surrey that excited about Chelsea winning this? Chelsea & City aren’t even the best two clubs in England.

They will keep running it though as it creates TV revenue and armchair football fans will pretty much watch anything.

I’m more than happy for the ‘Super clubs’ to bugger off and do this all the time. Leave the rest of us to it…

Perhaps I was a bit obscure or merely of an older generation:

In UK slang, "johnny" can refer to a condom. It can also be a more general term for a man or boy, similar to "chap" or "guy"

What is a Johnny in Cockney slang?
Johnny-bag - condom.

Never mind.
