Mads Roerslev been with Brentford for the last 6 years playing 121 times for them between 2019 and 2025. Plays as a right wing back or right winger. Played for Brentford when they got promoted and has played for them at times in the prem too.

 

More recently (last season) been on loan at Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. Looks like he only made 7 appearances for them last season though. They had an option to buy but did not take this up.

 

26 years old, made his senior debut for Denmark last November. Signed a 4 year deal, no mention of fee.

 

Looks like he has played on average around 20 times for Brentford over the last few years, mainly due to injuries to their preferred right backs but has seemingly done well enough to be offered contract extensions along the way. I believe they probably deem him surplus to requirements with the players they now have playing there hence the loan to Wolfsburg.

 

Imagine this is an upgrade on Bree/Sugawara which will likely see one of those moved out. My guess would be Sugawara given the earlier post about him possibly being one of those to leave.

 

Stands at 6 foot tall so a fairly decent height although not a beast, certainly not an Arma or Weeman

Brentford will be in a relegation scrap this year and they're all happy to let him go, says a lot I think.

Why? Sounds like a really decent championship signing and only 26. If we get promotion I'd presume he becomes backup which is a role he's done successfully for Brentford as they survived in the prem. I can't see what there is not to like.

What? Having two solid players in every position is pretty much the cornerstone of building any decent squad. If Bree and Mads both get injured, we’ll just have to fill in with someone else, same as we did if Richardson and Butterfield or Cedric and Martina both got injured simultaneously.

Sounds like a good character and attitude, which Still has highlighted all summer. Also has two years Championship experience, something else Still highlighted as wanting. After signing Quarshie and Downs I did fear SR were reverting back to signing a team of untried youngsters having also moved away from the possession based ethos, but this sounds on paper exactly like the type of signing we need and the type of signing that has given us success in the past. A highly thought of squad player from a higher placed club.

Also, the right-back spot was a problem position in the team. Neither Sugawara or Bree are promotion winning right-backs, so it's good that we've looked to strengthen, rather than plodding along with them. A sense of the ruthless streak we've all been asking for, as Sugawara was fairly open about wanting to stay earlier in the summer.

Bree is OOC next summer, so if we're promoted, Roerslev can drop to back-up and we get a new RB in.

Yeah I'm with you, and everyone else by the looks of it. I don't see anything wrong with the deal. We needed a RB, one of our key positions, and we've got a PL right back in the door who has played and performed at the top level of this very division.

Looking at all the comments, the Brentford fans love him so he seems a good egg. And that's often just as important as being good in your position.

We were in a relegation scrap last year and let Shea Charles go out on loan, is he sh*te?

I know little about this guy but on the face of it, he looks a solid RB for this level with just the right balance of youth versus experience. I’m not sure I quite get this negativity.

The only issues I had with Stephens and his contract was that he was old and already proven not to be good enough in the prem. Neither of these things apply to this signing.

Yes mate, Shea Charles would be eaten alive in the Premier League.

Just don't get the point of giving him a four-year deal at all. But maybe he's on 10k a week and gets paid the rest in Legos.

Brentford have Kayode and Hickey as their full back options, they are better than Roreslev, yes, but both of their 'starters' are out of our league and thus irrelevant options for us. 

We are shopping in the market of PL reserve players, I don't understand why you're so upset about it. Who were you expecting exactly? We're not signing a starting PL player, they're always going to be a squad PL player.

He's not good enough for an established Premier league side who finished mid table last season. Even if we got promoted that wouldn't be where we were aiming anyway. What player were you thinking we would get? I would say a player with many Premier league games under his belt who has played a substantial amount of games for a Premier league mid table side is about the best we could get at the moment.

I do think people expect a bit too much. It's always going to be hard to recruit Premier League quality players in this division. We've just finished as the second worst premier league side ever ffs. 

Sign the best Championship players, get promoted again but then improve upon them once promoted. That's what we didn't do last time.

Why unnecessary? If we fail to go up we have a really decent championship right back for a number of years. If we do go up we have reasonable prem backup. It's not like he's 32.
