Willo of Whiteley Posted September 25 Posted September 25 If we’re talking goal scoring records can I put forward by record back in the day at Goals when I played seven-a-side? I scored ten over the course of the year, absolutely piss-poor but based on this logic I should be a starter for Saints. 🤣 1
Anders Posted September 25 Posted September 25 18 players scored more than him last season in BL2, I don’t have a problem with signing players for the future but we should have been signing a centre forward who could make an immediate impact. 6

When your first touch is so poor you need to be able to hold off defenders but like Stewart, it's frustrating how he's not using his size to his advantage at all. Suspect he'll be shipped out on loan in January back to Germany. There is usually someone who needs games and is available on loan for us to bring in during the January window.
Marsdinho Posted October 2 Posted October 2 No surprise, but Downs has not made the latest USA squad.
Toadhall Saint Posted October 2 Posted October 2 That’s not going to help his confidence but if you’re not scoring as a CF thems the breaks.

Turkish Posted October 2 Posted October 2 US loss. Two weeks extra training with us. He'll be cooking by end of October.

Osvaldorama Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I said it on the match thread, but I’ll reiterate here: he looks like he’s never played football before 4
whiteleySaint30 Posted October 4 Posted October 4 3 minutes ago, Osvaldorama said: I said it on the match thread, but I’ll reiterate here: he looks like he’s never played football before Totally agree - i know the stock answer is to give him time to settle but surely that is to understand team tactics/formation etc. You'd think he'd arrived with the basics of being able to run, pass 5 yards, trap a ball and head a ball...... 4
Wade Garrett Posted October 4 Posted October 4 At least Ali Dia was a trier. Downs is just fucking dire.
Disco Stu Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) We have to cut our losses with him. Leave him in the reserves and ship him out on loan with a discounted option attached in January. Edited October 4 by Disco Stu
Bewildered Posted October 4 Posted October 4 With any luck AFC Totton or Sholing FC will be in the market for a backup striker in January. 2
Saint NL Posted October 4 Posted October 4 This guy must be fantastic in training, he shouldn't be anywhere near the team. Unfortunate as Stewart will be out for a while, we have only Armstrong and Archer left.
Lee On Solent Saint Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Tessem on Solent really trying hard not to say he is absolute shite 2

RedArmy Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Another summer signing destined to be loaned out in January. Bravo SR. 5
Willo of Whiteley Posted October 4 Posted October 4 A striker that scores a good goal in pre-season and then goes anonymous afterwards. A condition known as “the BBD effect”.

Gloucester Saint Posted October 4 Posted October 4 5 minutes ago, Football Special said: I actually believe he's worse than Ali Dia Fixed it for you. This is why AI scouting by itself doesn’t work, you need to watch players properly several times live. And I mean the player not the actual game. The fans are going to make mincemeat of him if he doesn’t at least display some work ethic and compete in the air. As usual, we have to do the club’s work for them.
SaintNewForest Posted October 4 Posted October 4 How's he wormed himself ahead of Archer & Robinson, then? I'd be fuming if I was either of those 2 3

LoyalSaintSO50 Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Take no pleasure in saying but he is absolutely horrendous and somehow gets worse each appearance. Which nutter decided this was good business ffs? 6
LGTL Posted October 4 Posted October 4 It’s incredible to be honest. Where do we find these complete idiots? He’s the worst striker I’ve seen in my lifetime, without question. 6
Katalinic Posted October 4 Posted October 4 If you told anyone he had won a competition to play today I suspect they would believe you after watching him. 3
Baz Fl Posted October 4 Posted October 4 With Stewart injured I’m afraid we are going to be subjected to more shite from Downs unless we move AdamA there which hurts him or Archer. Either way who the hell is Fellows meant to cross to? Three bloody years we’ve asked for a proper #9 and Spors give us Downs🤬 Ollie McBurnie was a free, he would have at least given us a physical presence in the box. 1’s and 9’s will save an average team, that’s just a basic fact that seems to allude SR & Spors 6

God now we in deep shit. Basics of a football team is to have a striker, unless your happy with draws.
Mboto Gorge Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Surely time to cut our losses with this fucking clown and exclude him from the squad. We must have a big striker in the under 18s who could do a better job than this idiot. If I was Still I’d be banging Spors door down asking him what the fuck is this he’s lumbered me with , and demanding a replacement in January, though it’s worrying in itself that Spors is capable of signing such complete dross. Lost all faith he can find a decent alternative too. 2

Osvaldorama Posted October 4 Posted October 4 It really says something when we are watching relegation threatened sides built on a shoe string and seeing better strikers 8
dsrdorset Posted October 4 Posted October 4 He's no where near being a footballer at this (or any) level. And never will be. End of discussion. 2
Dman Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Is he shit, or is the manager killing him. All of our attacking players have looked a bit crap. Probably the former based on what we’ve seen, but I’d like to see him play for a manager who knows how to get players in behind.
Mboto Gorge Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) 25 minutes ago, Osvaldorama said: It really says something when we are watching relegation threatened sides built on a shoe string and seeing better strikers Yep, every time you see an opposition with a 10th20th/50th of our budget , have a striker who does a good job, keeps our defenders occupied, wins balls in the air, holds the ball up and generally cause a nuisance and provide them with a focal point, it really hammers home the point of how mind bogglingly shit and grossly incompetent our recruitment is, we had 7 million where others have had 100-200k, and we’ve spunked it all on one of the worst strikers anyone has ever seen at this level, and for this club at any level. Fucking pathetic and Spors and his team need to answer some questions about this at some point. He’s not just bad, he’s horrific, barely looks league 2 level and plays like he can’t be arsed. After the record breakingly bad recruitment we’ve had to put up with prior to Spors arriving, for him to pull out this steaming turd of a signing is just taking the piss. Sheaf Saint Posted October 4 Posted October 4 You have to wonder what Still sees in training to make him think it's a good idea to play him. I genuinely can't think of a more ineffective player I've ever seen in a Saints shirt. Today I saw him receive, control and pass the ball once. Once! Every other time the ball came near him he either missed it completely, got outmuscled, or just couldn't be bothered to run to get it. The one time I did see him try and sprint to get on the end of a throughball, he looked like he was wearing concrete boots. He's fucking hopeless. 5

And *if* Stewart is injured for a period of time we're pretty much reliant on Downs to lead the line , crazy.
Mboto Gorge Posted October 4 Posted October 4 1 minute ago, Football Special said: And *if* Stewart is injured for a period of time we're pretty much reliant on Downs to lead the line , crazy. Yes and the irony is, Spors saw him as the main centre forward at the club when he signed him, his comments at the time said so. Well now he will see that come to fruition, This is what he wanted , the guy he signed to be our main focal point. Couldn’t make it up 1 1
lambtiss Posted October 4 Posted October 4 He looks as if he is waiting for an invitation to touch the ball.
Mboto Gorge Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Rasmus may aswell have stayed in charge of recruitment based on this signing. Doubt he’d have even picked out a worse striker than this joker

Either that or Baz has to go back in goal and we play out from the back a lot more. Both equally terrifying prospects. 1
