You would think Aribo has got something to offer in what might be quite a slogfest today.

Unless he is on a plane to Suadi or something

Still told us that Downes is still nursing an injury and not 100%

Downs is in cos Archer is also iffy

Otherwise it's all the usual boring suspects being selected. Where's the adventure Still?

Says a lot about the Loch Ness monster that archer is out and he’s not considered startable.

Yeah was saying this, WS really must not rate him. Unless Downs has been absolutely tearing it up in training this week. Hoping Jander has a great game in there with Shea, and they work out how to get the ball to the front 4 without punting it long

Downes… recovering from illness.

Downs… you’ve written off the new young striker already? FFS

Not sure I quite understand the logic of calling the players out for lumping it long to Archer when that’s not how he wants them to play and now giving them a target man so they’ll be tempted to lump it forward again?!

Downs is probably a better option for the style that Still wants to play. Needs to turn those easy chances into goals though. Anything other than a win today will be a worry.

Yep. It feels like he's playing an inferior player because he can't sort the tactics to stop us banging it long to the striker.

Having a big lad up top makes more sense with this squad. Fraser, Azaz and fellows all good at crossing the ball

Love the line up, happy to see downs get his chance and with the likes of azaz and jander playing he  might now get his runs spotted ..

They’re all good at getting in the box and finishing themselves too, maybe let them do that rather than just whipping crosses in for 90 minutes.

I'm really surprised Aribo isn't on the bench. 3 limited striker options, but only a poor/poorly Downes as a midfield option feels more than a bit strange.

Downs is going to be a TOP player. Trust the process

Maybe Downes is ok, trained well, but not quite 100%?

That bench is ridiculous. About time we started winning some games.

Always perturbs me a tad when I see a strong bench - I start wondering why the players on the strong bench are not actually starting the game? I mean is there some aversion to playing our best players? 😏🤔

Ha!! You'd hope.

On the face of it I don't get the selection thou. Amongst the various issues against Pompey was banging the ball long to a little lad. Playing Downs suggests we'll play the same way but with a bigger lad. On the other hand, Jander is in, presumably to feed Azaz more, and in turn play low balls into and behind the striker - that's Archer's game.

Will be interesting to see which way we go - football through the middle, or 1988 edition Wimbledon.

Big lumps up top are back in fashion. The long term plan is to get Archer on the end of Downs flick ons. We’re working with archer now to convert him into a new position of inside offensive lying false 11. A genius move.

Cheers. Interesting that all 3 goalscorers got minutes for the under 21's against Burnley yesterday evening.

A false 11, it's the future.

Start the game on the front foot, lobbing long balls in the box for the big man to hold up and cause chaos. Then when we've settled after 15 mins of that switch to a more direct style of high long passes into the focal point front man. Then close the game out by going long and high with balls in the box to the target man.

We need to be flexible.

It's why we've switched out Archer for Downs, clearly.

Loving all the calling for players who are not in the team atm, like they are the answer. Classic. Happens every time.

Haven't seen any of that.

Hope Janker is the midfield terrier we’ve been crying out for

spoke to a Hull supporting mate last night and he expects us to beat them. He said they were terrible so far this season. I congratulated him on getting 3 points today from us. He hadn't seen us play last week and was surprised to hear how bad we have actually been so far this season.

I'm not sure that's his game. Seems to be more of what the cool kids call an 8. Or more Cockerill than Case in old money.

Hoping Downs can have a real impact today and get off the mark. Good to see Jander starting too. Flynn is obviously not 100% fit yet.
